Yo Wisecrack! Surely you're all as excited for Rick and Morty to be back in our lives as we are! This is our first time trying a 'quick response' type format, where we dive into our analysis of awesome new stuff, but way faster. Let us know what you think! Send us your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, car keys, whatever.
loved the idea of a quicker, easyer to release format, go for it guys! :D
I think it's great, I enjoy being able to watch the episode and then soon after have the commentary to go with it.
Wisecrack shit guys, just keep up with the good work, i loved that idea of doin stuff quick and on the same quality much love from brazil. And plsssss bring got to this type of video
Wisecrack please more of this
This breakdown was awesome! I really like that you were able to respond quickly to the latest episode. I wish you might have touched on the robot versions of Rick, Morty, and Summer. I'd love to hear what you have to say about robot-morty realizing his humanity before being reset. Or Rick suggesting Beth cry 15 percent less. Anywho, thanks for another awesome video!
No mention of the morty bot randomly gaining sentience and discovering what it means to be alive? That was the best part of the episode
That was just a side-joke and not part of the overall story-arc of the episode.
that gave me nightmares to be honest. I feel a little more sad.
Sentient robot Morty deserved to hold his mother and run in a stream and taste ice cream but not just put it in his mouth and let it slide down his throat but really eat it.
i think it has been mentioned elsewhere that this could be interpreted as a westworld reference, but i don't think it necessarily has to be interpreted this way. anyway i thought it was robot morty's strongest moment apart from "haha, my sister died in the spaghettiooooooooooooooohhhh"
I AM ALIIIIIIVVVVEEEEEE....Hello
"Hard times create strong men,
Strong men create good times,
Good times create weak men,
Weak men create hard times."
GabrielKnightz damn circle's!
GabrielKnightz the crazy thing is we are on the weak men point
Circle of history man.
Oh Absolutely. Myself included.
Yeah.. no. A lot of post apocalyptic fiction shows the everyman reclaiming his agency and becoming the hero of the wastes. Let's be real here. Most if us would wind up as walkers if we were in The Walking Dead, presuming our fuck up left enough of us to reanimate. Most of us would end up as one of those random skeletons you see as set dressing in Fallout. We are Jerry.
I used to be in the Navy. And I remember how the older guys would speak about the difference that's felt when there's a war going on, and when there isn't. How, when there's purpose for what we're doing, all servicemen and women come together for a cause. But when there's not, there's all that bickering of a monotonous lives we live. Hurry up and wait. Look that phrase up, that explains how boring the military can be when there's nothing to do. And we're all trained to do something important, supposedly. But when there's no fighting, there's a lot of just everyone lashing at each other over meaningless nonsense, like no shave chits, and uniform creases, and how shiny we can get our boots to look. I used to work on Tomcat jets, and I can't tell you how boring it is when all we're doing is wiping them down all day long to make them look clean on the ship, so other squadron's can take notice, so our squadron can get a Battle E, just for having clean jets. Clean jets! Yeah, I know exactly what you're speaking of when you speak about the difference of being part of a purpose, and when not. There's this movie called Jarhead, that I really like. And what I like about is its a movie all about that whole "hurry up and wait" mentality that exist in the military. And how boring it is. A lot of people didn't like Jarheads because there was no action going on. Nothing but training, and training, and more training in remote locals in the world. Well, even though a lot of people didn't like that movie, I know us service people did, since, THAT'S THE MILITARY, in a nutshell. Exactly how it feels like being prepared to go to war, but not going to war, and then having everyone turn on each other for frivolous nothing reasons.
I would say thanks for your service, but instead I will say thank you for the philosophical analysis.
It's great, but maybe turn the music down a bit.
I agree this is great but the music is way too loud.
Odd to see you here, years later...
I'm surprised that he didn't bring up when Robot Morty starts ranting about wanting to live and experience life. not just having ice cream sliding down his throat but eating it actually experiencing it to its fullest. which actually sort of describes how monotonous and dull our modern lives have become that we just lay around dealing with whatever shit is thrown at us and not taking risks and actually LIVING life
that the only way we would reject this style of life if we were pre-programmed to live that way and not adapt to it as we "grow" as people
SuckMyGiggity Noot Or it was a joke and people just grasp for straws in this show about fart jokes.
Benjamin Price it's not grasping at straws if that's what the actual dual intent and message behind the joke truly is. I don't get why that's a problem for you?
Pat Brown It's not, but people give this show a lot more credit than it should have. Doesn't change the fact that it's a hilarious show and one of my favorites on TV right now, I just think it's fan base can be a little full of themselves.
Ad Vert You do realize that's not my point, at all, right?
no, life has been soulcrushing at every time in history for 99.99% of the people
clydefrosch life is soul crushing and short, don't live it unhappily, that's all you can really try to do, find some goddamn happiness in anyway you can. Find your joy
but my job doesnt make me miserable and neither does paper money. not even the systems tied to those things.
also, life and death shit has been known to be not just soul- but also lifecrushing for people for as far back as history can reach, so that doesn't seem like a good alternative to begin with
Yeah, I'm pretty sure 19th century Russian serfs, French peasants during the ancien regime, slaves in the US south or the indigenous inhabitants of the Congo free state, would be envious of the daily grind of modern westerners. Civilisation isn't all it is cracked up to be, but modern westerners have it very good by the standards of human civilisation.
Happiness is indeed relative not absolute, but once we accept that idea fully the idea of progress becomes meaningless. If people's happiness is solely down to biochemical reactions in the Brain, not external stimuli, then why do anything besides taking various types of narcotics? Does that mean that Mandela was wasting his time fighting apartheid? What about the chartists and suffragists/suffragettes? The abolitionist movement? Independence struggles? The Feminist movement?
These shit still mean life or death, but less cleary. Interesting.
Q: Is modern life soul crushing?
A: YES
Source: am living.
I liked how this episode of Rick and Morty took escapism from real life problems far more literally then expected.
Wasn't on board till you said Jake Paul, please explain how dabbing on the haters is actually an expression of how capitalism exploits children for profit.
Danny Daniels lol
ye better just be exploited by those that are already rich and mighty instead of being "exploited" by those that cant or wont work for any reason. and by the way: the absolute majority of people still want to work even when given a choice to stop. numerous studies have shown this before. capitalism is not sustainable unless you create more and more artificial industries which is already done with the banking industry and ofc the war industry. capitalism is failing many people every single day since many hundreds of years and people go and say no form of socialism can ever lead to a better life simply because specific forms of socialism (in most cases even in a dictatorship) did not work in the past. and no capitalism is not the root of all evil... greed is! capitalism is just a symptom ^^
"capitalism is just a symptom (of greed)" yeah... that´s one of the most important features of Classical Liberalism, which not only accepts and embraces human defects, for example greed, but creates a system of incentives that make them become a force that helps society by creating new inventions, building advanced infrastructure, investing in science and other wonderful things that improve the quality of life of everyone, in contrast to communism which believes greed is created by a capitalist society and thinks that once such system is abolished a New Man without envy or ambition will be (re)created...
"artificial industries (...) the banking industry and ofc the war industry" What is your definition of "artificial industries"?. The War Industry has a clear purpose: supply the always existing demand for tools of war, you can consider that immoral and I wouldn't disagree but the War Industry did not create war, I would say that is as old as Society if not older, so it is as natural as the industry gets. The same happens with banking, while they have other functions (i think) they primarily exist because of two:
1- people need a place to safely store their money (supplying an existing demand),
2- people need capital or money now at the expense of their future earnings to start a business or afford an object they either need or desire ( supplying an existing demand).
"no form of socialism can ever lead to a better life" as long as it only reforms capitalism, instead of abolishing it, Democratic Socialism is a good example(fun fact: Article 14 of the UDHR guarantees the right to own property)
"simply because specific forms of socialism (in most cases even in a dictatorship) did not work in the past" So we should just ignore all the empirical evidence that says socialism doesn't work in an industrial society because every time humanity has tried it, it wasn't the correct form of socialism? Please, enlight me, what is the one and true socialist way, you may select it from this list at will. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Types_of_socialism. Remeber it can't coexist with the evil ways of capitalism or end in a dictatorship when it has been put into practice.
Anyone else find it weird that Jared looks like Garyx Wormuloid minus the amazing eyebrows?
your similar hominid anthropoid DNA has it's limitations, there's bound to be good copies and bad reproductions...
Harry Rush They are probably brothers from an alien mother.
Jared doesn't play Garyx. Mark Schroeder does.
Yeah...weird...
Rick and Morty: Wub a lub a dub dub! (*fart joke) Life has no meaning.
Wisecrack: This is allegorical for the existentialist absurdity of our post-modern civilization and highlights how the existential duality of man will always manifest itself as existential cognitive dissonance and existential existentialism, Albert Camus, God is Dead, Post-Modern existential Existentialist absurdism.
Gee, who would'a thought someone who actively tries to save his family over and over has a hidden 'purpose' in life.
Lmaoooo bruh. Rick and Morty is a deep show tho.
I think you missed another side to the story. When robot Morty gains sentience, all he wants in 'life' is to be like the humans on Earth, happy, content, and experiencing what it is to be a real boy. The point being that we actually have more than we give credit.
Love it. More like this. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!!!
Tommy P Delanuit lol cracked me up
I just got shwifity with your comment.
Holy shit, jared is a real guy??? And he can move??
And he doesn't have mustache eyebrows.
Vicente Ortega Rubilar q2
It's only soul crushing if you let it be. Don't be Jerrys.
Don't be a normie. GET OUT!!! REEEE
"My man" - delusional Matrix glitch
How do you not be a Jerry ? Don't write half assed comments just to feel superior
Stop being such a Dave, Jerry.
Exactly. Do something, carve your own piece of the universe. Make it your own, demand your control. Me, I write a comic. I'm not the artist, and she has her own life, so it's not out yet. But that shit is mine. The hardest thing about freedom is that you have to rely on yourself for a definition of who you are.
I like this style for topics that may pass too quickly for a normal episode, but wouldn't want it to replace the standard wisecrack episodes
Thank you Wisecrack, for adding subtitles to the video clips after my suggestion :) Also, thanks for enabling auto-english closed captions. These really help a lot :) I have a unusual hearing impairment in which sometimes, even if i crank up the volume or replay the clip, i simply can't understand some words in TV shows. This is despite English being my first and only language
Forget about Jerry. This is all about summer. What makes Rick so dangerous? He doesnt look back. Created the monster universe? Nevermind, lets hop into a second universe where it never happened. Remember his clever "do better, Morty. dont fall for marriage, like me or your mum"...Sum-sum learns this in this episode. Looking back means making stupid mistakes all over again. It means living in misery. Learn from the past and move on. Nothing in the past really matters, but learning from it and not repeating it. Meaning Summer needs to let go of her vision of a happy marriage and not do the same mistakes as her grandfather and her mother and the society that failed to learn from its mistakes and immediately chooses to become dependent on a not-renewable source. Once the source is removed the society falls again. Morty on the other hand (haha) needs to let go of his anger towards jerry and he does as he follows the story of the strongest hand around that lost its family due to not being strong enough. Meaning sometimes things are beyond your control and you have to learn to live with that.
Later on Summer gives this resolution she have learned to Jerry (dont look back and move on) and Morty gives his sort of resolution to Beth (jerrys inability to fight for this family is beyond your control, move on). What this shows to me the most is that you need to learn to be your own person. Like Rick who never looks back and seems to not have any regrets, he just carpe on them diems.
You guys should definitely do more of these, good way to get some good quick ideas about shows and movies out that you can elaborate on later as necessary
Yes, I like this format, its not JUST a reaction video, it still has the wisecrack analysis we love and cherish. I would like an episode by episode for smart shows like rick and morty and maybe a seasonal review of lesser shows.
Golf clap. Awesome job!
Please make such videos for every episode!! Just a breakdown for all episodes will make my day!
Thoroughly surprised you were able to put this together in just a few days; quality stuff. More of this please; will watch.
More wisecrack the better
Totally dug the format of the new quick-release video. It's great to be able to hear the analysis so quickly after the episode's release. P.S. I freakin' love everything you dudes do. I'm a junior in high school, and your videos about South Park, and how the show tackles the diminishing returns of empty profanity and the ineffectiveness of PC helped me write my English final essay on censorship. You're actually one of my cited sources on that paper. Your video on the philosophy of the Joker also helped me with a separate essay, wherein I argued that Iago, the Shakespearean villain from Othello, is a psychopath, and that's why he does the heinous things he does. The Joker and Iago are frighteningly similar characters. And anything you've ever released about Rick & Morty has only deepened my absolute love for the show. So thank you. Seriously. You guys rock.
I am SO grateful for your channel!
MORE OF THIS! This video was everything I wanted from you concerning Season 3! Thank you Wisecrack!
Personally, I thought the Morty robot coming alive was a reference to the popularity of Westworld. Being nihilistic as always, the show was trivializing robot self-awareness.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Anyone notice the similarities between summer and the bucket head guy and c-137 summer and Jerry? The ones you so in Rickshank Redemtion .
Love the quick takes. Please continue to make them.
I Freak'n love the philosophy you bring to all your videos. One of my fav channels to binge. Thanks for all you guys do. Good Work!!!!
I thought the background music was Bad Apple for a moment
it was
Jaro Pennanen; fucking same!
Christian Gutierrez I don't think it was, or if so the melody never kicked in. The notes end differently on the second verse of the low sounding part. I looked it up and I can't find a version of it from the musician listed in the description.
Also, it is at this point I realize I have no knowledge of correct musical terms. /:
Have a video on every episode with the newest season 3 of Rick and Morty!
Yes!!!! Please
I'd love there to be one of these for as many Rick and Morty episodes as it makes sense for there to be but not to have them promise one per episode. Maybe an episode comes up where there isn't anything deep and not previously covered or there's something where a quick response wouldn't do it justice. The last thing I'd want to happen to Wisecrack is them succumbing to a schedule and quality getting lowered to meet expectations. I've seen it happen to many channels and don't want it to happen here.
Wouldn't that get bland? Then he would lose views when more episodes are released.
No
Only if it's good like this one
TBH, it's nice when you show yourself throughout the video. The user, myself, creates a better connection with you, the speaker. And because of that I think I understand your points better. I'm amazed at how eloquent you are.
Done well, would love to see you guys do more of this.
Do philosophy of Wilfred
Omar Ramo YESSSS, the only problem though is that it's not popular enough
That is why I try to push WIlfred down my friends' throats since I first saw it, we need more people talking about it :(
Omar Ramo there's some good videos about it on yt already. i swear wisecrack did one when it was finished.
No, make nachos instead.
Omar Ramo Yes!
Jerry's the only one who can kill rick since his such a non-threat
This video along with the fight club video and a few others are so incredibly MOTIVATING.
You really pulled me out of a rut. Thanks Jared! and thank you WiseCrack
Really enjoyed this video. Would love to have one for each episode this season, although I understand that'd be very hard and time-consuming schedule wise. Thanks for making awesome videos
This is awesome, keep it up guys
Dayum

Id rather the videos came out quickly like this and its better seeing you actual move any way
What was that show/movie that had the kid saying "working jobs we hate to buy shit we dont need"
I'm pretty sure thats Fight Club
rodrigo hernandez that movie is ''fight club'', it's one of those movies you that you HAVE to watch more than once, not because it's confusing but because of the....SPOILER ALERT! Nvm just watch the movie
Fight Club. It’s fucking fantastic you should go watch it
That "kid" is Brad Pitt in Fight Club. A must-see.
Great video. Excited to have a podcast from yall.
Man, I just start to subscribe your channel and I am loving the Rick and Morty videos
I understand the theme of this episode, but I don't agree with it. It is true that modernization makes things easier, but that doesn't mean we have to live in a blood thirsty anarchist society to have a meaningful life. People can create meaning by making art, making groups to socialize, playing sports, fighting for a noble cause, etc. It is true that no one wants to be like Jerry, but it doesn't have to end in a Fight Club scenario. What about the great inventors that fix society's problems? The artists that entertain us to make us feel relieved? Destruction should be replaced by Creation.
damn, good argument
Arturo Reyes Cortez hell yeah man! You got it! Replace destructive actions with positive creative and constructive ideas and actions.
Good point. I just wonder if it was easier to find fulfillment back then, or now.
Well WE can do that, but the Sanchez family can't. The problem is they inherited Rick's need to make everything extreme or suffer massive ennui. Only Jerry is comfortable not being in the center or something wiser heads would stay away from. I guarantee you if Beth started going on adventures she'd stop drinking. Or at least slow down to levels consistent with living a normal lifespan. That's what attracted her to Jerry, she sensed that in the sort of situations she likes, life and death, he would be great. It's no coincidence that when they fight off Cronenbergs they both get hot.
Arturo Reyes Cortez Shut (burp) up Morty.
The Philosophy of Gravity Falls
The Philosophy of Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared
The Philosophy of Steven Universe
The Philosophy Of Thanos
The Philosophy Of Stan Lee
They most certainly did the entire DHMIS series. It was one of the first Wisecracks I ever saw.
I loved that song you wrote about Waterloo!
Loved this, guys. Would love to see more.
"Season 3 is ruined"
"Female writers ruined rick and morty"
"It's sjw bullshit"
People love to hate everything
Dude, no one said that here. This aint Schwiftposting lol
This episode wasn't really SJW in the slightest. Unless I didn't know already, I wouldn't be able to tell the episode was written by a woman. It's still classic Rick and Morty nihilism and existentialism.
Honestly isn't complaining about SJW bullshit just another recreational triviality that's embedded itself into modern society? Say for instance the same as complaining about recycling. In itself it's just complaints inside of complaints.
Grady Childs the only reason why dad has even come up it's because of the sjw that were complaining about there not being any female writers before
I have absolutely no problem with female writers just hope they don't stuff a shit ton of feminist shit in it. Keep the variety of topics going.
Also this episode wasn't really funny. Hoping they do better.
I don't think it's necessarily modern life and comforts that're soul crushing. It's society in general. If you're living with other people, you gotta conform to some extent, regardless of societal type. Stop with the 'comforts ruin humanity' spiel, it's not insightful, it's pretentious. Just let me be depressed about the benality of life in comfort please and thank you.
To extent yes. Most people forget the agricultural revolution was the worse thing that happened to the well being of most of humanity until relatively recently.
It's actually true. When things get easy, you get lazy.
I agree lmao.
Bose-Einstein getting lazy doesn't mean anything. Just because modernization has made life "easier" (at least for most people in MDC's) doesn't make living in the past or in a dystopian future gives life meaning. They only had something to (fully) occupy their time, but it isn't the same as having meaning. Struggles still exist for minority groups, white people, LDCs, etc. Dystopian, past, or present--struggles still exist but to confuse it with meaning I think is odd.
I think you're really missing the point of the video and the idea itself. How would you come to realise the inherent meaninglessness in everything, from an atheistic standpoint of course, if you were constantly engaged in a life-and-death struggle for you and your family's life, probably motivated in part by your own conscience to care for the people close to you and at least by societal norms by which you have been raised? Would you spend much time thinking everything through or getting on with your life and duties to keep yourself and your family alive?
I generally believe that absurdity only is grasped through disengagement, which, in my interpretation and Wisecrack's, is exactly what modern lige offers many of us through monotony, and distancing from death, something which in no way is present in the Mad Max-like universe.
In short, I generally believe meaninglessness to be one of the luxuries of the modern age, as it seems to have been glimpsed by the kings of old as they could sit somewhat comfortably in their castles and ponder, not struggling for life, drawing on Pascal, and us with all the time in the day, many us have.
First episode and you nailed it. Looking foward to what's next.
definitely want to see more of these!!!
Okay, WiseCrack, we get it; you like Rick and Morty.
Am I the only one who didn't like this episode very much? I mean, I didn't hate it, but I dunno I didn't like it. Also the characters are becoming a bit too bloodthirsty for my liking. Hope they don't go down the way of Family Guy.
Rick opened up a portal to an "Earth" where life is like Mad Max. Of course it's going to be violent.
Skeith This season got darker... But not because of the joy of violence like Family Guy; it was that the kids overcame their family's problems in such an immature way.
Skeith it's getting darker and darker, not just gorier, so I would say it's going in the exact opposite direction than family guy
loved this, definitely keep going with this quick reaction to episodes thing
Yaaasss more rick and morty videos and podcasts to keep me busy while I wait for the next episode please and thank you
