Angry German farmers stage country-wide tractor blockade against government

  • German farmers are staging a week of nationwide protests by blocking roads with tractors against the government's planned phasing out of agricultural subsidies.
Tractors and trucks gathered on German roads on Monday, including Berlin's main avenue leading to the Brandenburg Gate, causing major disruptions.
A constitutional court ruling on unutilised pandemic funds left the German government facing a 60 billion euro ($US65 billion) financial gap, leading to a sudden budget crisis.
The government backtracked partially, preserving the car tax exemption and staggering the reduction of diesel tax breaks over three years.
Despite this, the German Farmers' Association insists on a complete reversal and said it would proceed with a "week of action" starting Monday.

It’s not just the farmers. They get lots of support from truckers, craftsmen, employees in the service sector and many more.
I am German and I deeply appreciate, that the farmers made the first step. We are exhausted, exhausted from ever new taxes, tax increases, financial gifts to half of the world, an overly bureaucratic public system, extensive migration from people that don’t respect Germany and living conditions that get worse from month to month.
Germans are usually a calm and quiet people, but it is enough! It started with some hundred farmers after Christmas and protests yesterday had already about 2.5 million supporters. It will go on - for a better future.

Just out of curiosity, tell me why you don't like to use English? I know that most Germans speak English, I am a truck driver and I couldn't communicate in English I'm just asking out of curiosity

    • @Faulpelz55
      @Faulpelz55 Před 6 měsíci +12

@@jozinzbazin3818 Honestly, I can’t tell you. Perhaps it is because English became obligatory in German schools quite late and many older people never learned it. But I don’t understand why younger people in Germany don’t answer in English. I can just assume that most neighbouring countries speak German as their second or third language and Germans therefor are too lazy to learn proper English. Or they are afraid that someone might laugh about their English skills - you know, German Angst and perfectionism … „Don’t do it, if you can’t do it right“. That’s true for most topics, but even bad skills can help someone foreign if he needs help. And mostly people will understand you, even if you make some mistakes.
But if you meet a German that says he can speak English, it’s mostly very good. I never had any issues with English and was often called for help from friends, if they were asked something in English.

🇺🇸❤️🇩🇪 Farmers everywhere are a resource, a treasure for the people of their resident nations.
Good produce and foodstuffs = healthy citizens.
The argument isn't about "being green" it's about controlling people through food scarcity.

No Carpenter nor mechanic gets money from our government, so why should they get that amount of money..
Farmers destroy roads with there heavy equipment, so why not paying tax like every other too..

@nightbot1788 I don't think it is fair to look for a scapegoat and find help for Ukraine as one. We all know why there is a huge gap in the budget: the reason is government created mass hysteria during pandemics and started making huge debts, then they stockpiled this bmoney borrowed from future generations and discovered they can use them to make their green dreams true. Constitutional court said no and there was suddenly a 60 Billions gap and lack of ideas how to deal with it. So government decided to let society pay for own ignorance and society is not ready to follow.
BTW: germany's military help for Ukraine is not significant, per capita it is 20% of what such small country as Estonia does. The major part of money described in the media as "help for Ukraine" it is support for almost 1 Millions Ukrainian war refugees.

Trudeau got his henchmen to starve out a group of Freedom Convoy truckers held up at a truck stop by cutting off power and putting up roadblocks on all roads going in and out. When they were just about out of supplies, one of the truckers inside the building started to hear some diesel engines that were not from your typical transport truck getting louder and louder followed by lights getting brighter and brighter. He pulls out his phone and goes to one of the windows to start recording. They were farm tractors cutting through a field due to the road blocks loaded with food, water and other supplies. The farmers answered the call when they saw truckers needing help. But more importantly, it was also a ginormous middle finger salute to Trudeau.

The farmers have deliberately chosen this form of protest. For a long time, the media did not report on the problems with agriculture. The aim was to attract the attention of the population. I was also a bit upset that I arrived at my company far too late yesterday. However, I was aware of the situation and could therefore understand it. Some of my work colleagues, for example, were completely unaware of the situation. We spent the whole lunch break talking about the protests and their background. A poster I saw on a tractor could be translated as follows: "We apologize for the interference in your everyday life, but it is necessary". The demonstration is more about encouraging people to vote for a different party at the next election and to draw attention to the problems.

This government was exposed with a shell trick and was reprimanded by the Constitutional Court and that is why they are missing 60 billion euros that they want to get from working people.
