    Off-topic but is this the Surrey Quays store? Whenever I would walk down the stairs at the back I would wonder what was in those rooms up and to the left and right with all the people at PCs. This is a cool little insight into what's in there (if this is actually that store lol).

      Yes, this video was filmed at Surrey Quays, now you know what goes on in there 😉

    Can I adjust the side straps? They seem just a bit short for my ears.

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před rokem

      Unfortunately not, they come with a sewn in side strap buckle, this prevents strap creep. Sometimes if the dial at the back is not fully loose when fitting, this can cause the whole helmet to sit high, and allow the straps to touch your ears? That can also happen with a lot of hair.

    Currently in kuwait there are national day discounts I found in decathlon 2 helmets suits me
    VAN RYSEL RoadR 500 Road Cycling Helmet for 15.47£
    ROCKRIDER Mountain Biking Helmet EXPL 500 12.89£
    but I’m confused can refer me one of them safety wise, less air resistance, comfortable in long ride, long term durability
    Thanks Lee for being great cycling mentor 🫡🙏

      Thanks AA!
      Both helmets have the EN1078 standard for cycling and roller skating. The EXPL is made for MTB so has more coverage at the back of the head in case of a fall backward which is more common off road. Both have a polycarbonate shell for increased longevity, the EXPL has more of this shell and less EPS visible, which means it will take less damage from scrapes with bushes and small branches or rolling around in the boot of the car. The visor is also less aero on the MTB helmet but is great for the low sun especially if you don't wear sunglasses. The visor can be removed though, with a bit of force. Both are really comfy but the Van Rysel is designed for longer days in the saddle, is more aero and has bigger vents to cool that noggin, if you wanted you can stick a Van Rysel ultralight cap under the helmet to act as a visor(when sunny)glasses shield (when raining). Hope that helps?

    Hi Lee, I wasn't aware that it is possible to return helmets due to them being classed as PPE equipment. Has the guidance on returns changed since the filming of this?

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před rokem

      Hi Chris, as far as I am aware, nothing has changed. It is still possible to return a bike helmet, as long as it is in undamaged condition, if it was a just the wrong size purchased for example. Online return could be a tricky one though, since it cannot be inspected until received and then a possible refund may be rejected if damage is found.

      @@TheDecathlonMan interesting. I tried to return a helmet to Surrey Quays last week and they told me it's not allowed. It wasn't even worn or damaged. They said it's because it's safety equipment. I should try again then. What recourse do I have if they refuse?

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před rokem +1

      That sucks, you can always show them this below, as cycle helmets do not fall under PPE regs, this is because you are not required to wear one by UK law.

      The other helmet is the Lightweight model, EDR is meant to stand for EnDuRance.

    7:27 Request, if you could do a short video on how to remove the straps to wash them.
    Don’t want to destroy a good helmet because of a silly mistake. 😁

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah, probably better if you wash them in situ 😅 made a boo boo there 😂 to remove them you would need to cut and re-stitch the strap which would void your warranty and may affect your safety. czcams.com/video/dJI2nYmQqIs/video.htmlsi=CHC7mYFljIGn98_7

    • @junaid42465
      @junaid42465 Před 10 měsíci

      @@TheDecathlonMan yup, I could push the clips out, but the straps aren’t removable. It would need re-stitching, not worth the effort. Best is to wipe it off after every ride.
      Another two things to keep in mind,
      - washing the pads too regularly destroys them.
      - don’t soak and leave the helmet on warm soak water to wash the straps. The Velcro stickers starts to come off. (From personal experience 🤪).

    If i have 58 and some change for the size, should i still get the medium or would the large be more comfortable and snug?

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I would go for a Medium size unless you have a lot of hair or intend to ride with a thick winter cap underneath?

      @@TheDecathlonMan woops. I ordered a large one. I have a normal set of hair and planning to wear caps under from time to time. I think ill be fine, if it is really too lose, I'll exchange it. i was in rush to order thinking I'd get no reply here. Thanks anyway. (: i guess ill just have to see.
      The one in the video for roadr 500 is medium right?

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před 2 měsíci +1

      No problem, yes, the helmet in the video is Medium, I have a 57cm head circumference and use a Medium and can still get a merino cap underneath.

    I have the 900 but I feel it's sitting on top of my head, not really moulded to the skull. Why is that so?

    • @TheDecathlonMan
      @TheDecathlonMan  Před 11 měsíci +1

      If it is the correct size and you have tightened it using the dial, It could be that you have an oval shaped head, in which case the EDR500 will fit better. If this is not the case, then it may also be the cradle at the back just needs adjusting for height, try pushing the cradle that the dial sits on, upward or downward until it sits comfortably, rather than perching.
