Dunno if this is a Hot take or not, but collab skins should NEVER be in a battle pass. The only 1 I’ll say was fine, was deadpool because his collab and hype was done so well

I kinda miss the small story missions like the toy soldiers vs the plush bears back in chapter two. Those were fun and easy way to gain more EXP.

Imo, they need to bring back the weekly loading screens. I always loved how they would either tell the story of the bp skins or reveal new skins. In Combination with the level up it felt very rewarding to grind the challenges. And speaking of loading screens, I miss the ones epic made. In the beginning it was nice to feature the communitys art because there was some really creative stuff and different artstyles, but nowadays each skin gets two loading screens which are just two drawings of it that all look the same. Epics looked better and were much more unique, ranging from concept art to showcasing skins or whole sets at different POIs, etc.
Same goes for music packs. We used to get extended versions of emotes and that was great, but nowadays its actual songs wrote for the BP skins. Most of it is really generic and I think the old instrumental only songs were better for background music than songs with lyrics.
My final problem with Battle Passes is the skins. I think Collabs should not be part of the battle pass at all and I dont like the anime skins. Half of the skins are always completely random and dont match the season theme at all and recently, most skins are girls in bland modern clothing. Tier 100s are underwhelming, even if they are original skins and we havent had a progressive skin that grinding felt worth for in ages.
Also, I miss when secret skins were actually a secret that would unfold with the story and not a collab that would be revealed day one.
I agree! Loading screens, although usually neglected in other games, were truly exciting and intriguing! I also agree with the Music Packs. I personally use the Fortnite Music Packs for my videos, but these days, there are only songs with lyrics, which I don't enjoy for both editing videos & as lobby music. And the skins, YES COMPLETELY AGREED!

I loved how the older skins were original ideas from Epic and not some collaboration. Skins used to fit with the game and blend with it and contribute to the environment. Now, Icon skins and skins from animes fill the map with advertisements for some other multi-million dollar company or celebrity and completely ruin the immersion

Eh I think that should be the point of the battle pass, not everyone should be able to get the tier 100 skin so easily. That's why if you saw a john wick skin, you would be scared. It should be an exclusive for players who actually put the time in

I would like them to bring back those side quests that would give you some lore on the bp skins. Like GHOST vs SHADOW or that sentinel head. I can't really think of any more off the top of my head
I loved the Ghost VS Shadow lore/styles. It was more work for Epic Games to create, but it was worth it in the long-run. The next season has been claimed to be spy-like. Hopefully Fortnite can bring back the same hype of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2.

I disagree. We're all older now and don't have all day to play the game like we used to. This current change is good especially for people that don't wanna be tied down to one game every season. It took me till the last day of C1S4 to get Omega lights lol don't wanna grind that hard again. Grinding for the skin never felt good to me. Simply just having it and being able to wear it is the fun part and besides Item shop skins are always better than battle pass ones nowadays
but nowadays it doesent feel as rewarding as it once was to get a skin it just feel pointless.

Amazing counter-claim. This overall topic is so controversial; I feel like I can agree with both sides.
Kinda wish there was a way in-between new and old system. Exciting and engaging, though not as taxing like how it was in the old days where you barely scrapped to final reward like light for Omega and leaving people depressed.
ill never forgive myself for not playing for a couple more hours to get the dark voyager in s3 dude. to this day thats my fav skin, and i was literally 3 tiers away from it, but i was like 13, and i had only just gotten a computer and my mum only let me play for a limited amount of time per day 😭. Never got omega or ragnarok either but dark voyager hurts the most :(((
The battle pass had top tier cosmetics and was actually hard to progress in. Back in my day, during chapter 1, you actually had to play the entire season to max it out. Secret skins were also really cool and difficult to obtain. You could miss it easily. Not to mention we’re getting so many collabs that the whole system feels over saturated and under hyped

I remember when the challenges used to be creative and fun and some were like small puzzles that you had to figure out. Now it’s just the same boring recycled garbage “destroy structures” “drive distance in vehicle” “deal damage”
I have to agree considering how battle passes felt like it would go on the whole season(I’d get the tier 1 skin at day one of the season then I’d get the tier 100 in the last few weeks of the season). Now I get the tier 100 by the end of the first month and then complete all the side stuff by the end(or even middle) of the second month. I then have nothing else to do because the BR is just annoying to play and there’s no interesting LTms(THERE’S ONLY 1). I end up playing creative maps which are just boring. There’s nothing I find in fortnite actually exhilarating or fun. I only play because my dumb self doesn’t know what else to play and I very rarely have her that tiny bit of hope
I find Fortnite fun to play with friends. If you don’t have any, you can always try your luck with randoms. I got lucky enough to find a few people I can play with daily. But ya it’s really easy to get to tier 100 in the BP, but you don’t see me complaining😂

i don't really care that XP is easier to get, but i dont like today's battle passes because they don't have secret skins that are really secret and we have to wait to know what the skins are like the visitor or the ruin, now we have secret skins like gerald and now we have ahsoka that are already revealed on the 1st day of the season and i dont like that.

I agree back then it was super fun doing the challenges (exept for risky reels one) and getting tier 100 but now it feels boring and i do every single challenge in the game so i always get lvl 400-500 by just playing

Here's what we need progressive skins they are fun to collect completing them to build up a skin and more original cosmetics no icon series emotes and no collab stuff it's cool but I like doing the grind to get an epic new skin and actual hidden skins
Progressive skins were awful yea they were cool but if you didn’t play enough you would end up with a skin that is missing majority of its features ask anyone who played C1S4 and see if they finished omega

I think you underestimate how much money WE the casuals spend in the game and how much people are coming and keep playing thanks that the BP is easy to complete.
BP is to increase the amount of people playing not to reward sweaty players, I think they must do the second type too, but for the ranked, not the stupid missions they have right now.
I started playing back in season 5, atleast started playing for real, and all nostalgia of that time aside chapter 1 just felt so much more unique, it was fun doing weeklies and it felt like you needed to engage more than to just play the game to get levels over time completely ignoring the challenges, I remember the roadtrip season 5 loading screens aswell that kinda made up a story for drift as the season went on, and back then when the secret battle pass skin was actually a secret and we only saw the silhoutte of it, as much as I understand fortnite is an evolving game it's hard to just see it change in a way where it's turned kinda unoriginal and generic at times, past few battle passes has just been really forgettable while thinking back to the old ones they are really iconic
Exactly. Now the secret skins are not super secret anymore. Also, I remember when leaks would come out about the secret skin/the BP as a whole, I'd get so excited. I think age is a factor in this argument though.
@@noobkillr Definitely, and I remember me speculating on my own how the skin could potentially look, and how excited I was for the leaks aswell when it came out, now the leaks is just collabs or something else and the secret battle pass skin isn't that special to me.

Fortnite battlepass is outdated and boring now including the skins and emotes but still better than every other game that does a battle pass system
I miss 2017-18 and 19 😭😭 chapter 1 was so special and the feeling of coming from school and playing this once fun game, getting to the last 10 players and shaking very bad because i was about to win😢

So you're saying Fortnite should make its battle system like Halo Infinite's, which has one of the worst battle pass systems ever. Currently Fortnite has a good battle pass system. Infact, people say it's the best battle pass system in video games, and I agree. It's healthy, not a complete chore unlike many other battle passes in games, and isn't a stressful experience. Infact, when I play Fortnite, the battle pass doesn't come to my mind since I'm having so much fun in the game. The only flaw with the system is of course the fomo. Once it expires, it won't come back. The one thing Halo Infinite got right is that its battle passes don't expire. That feature should carry over to Fortnite. Fortnite still has challenges by the way.
What I'm saying, in summary, is that I expressed my nostalgia of old Fortnite Battle Passes; it was so special because of the difficult progression. However, I see both sides of the argument since even I don't have time to grind the Battle Pass. On the other hand, I am speaking for the newer generations of Fortnite since they won't be able to play the same difficult, engaging, and exciting Battle Pass we did. I get what you're saying, though.

The problem is just that the Battle Passes lack good emotes and good content. I don't think easy XP is a problem.
I definitely get what you mean and your reasoning behind it, but for me, someone who doesn‘t have a lot of time, I kind of disagree. I was not (and still am not) a fan of chapter 2, like at all, but changing battle stars to xp was one of the only good changes imo. I was able to reach level 200 in the last 4 seasons (mainly thanks to creative and stw xp). In chapter 1, the highest battle pass tier I was able to reach was level 92 and in most seasons I was between tier 70 and 80.
I wouldn‘t mind some changes being made though. For example, you could make battle pass challenges and xp in general give you stars, just challenges give you more. Or you could make it that the normal battle pass is with xp, but you have to obtain the enlightened styles through challenges . You could also combine the 2 concepts above… There are tons of possibilities.

It's like a negative loop. Their skins are getting repetitive and losing their appeal, but if they stop making skins, they lose money.
Nowadays the battlepass rewards are so bad, the skins and the cosmetics. and to top things off, they have this really annoying battle stars system instead of just unlocking a rewards for each level
I remember the days when I discovered those secret battle stars in Chapter 1 Season 6 because it was like 1 day left for the season to end and I needed to get the dire skin fast! I was like Tier 97 or 96. I once got a CZcams video recommended about the star locations and I checked if it was real and it was! I was so happy when I got to Tier 100!

Like there is no reason that getting omegarok this season shouldnt feel like the coolest thing ever, its literally my two favourite tier 100 skins mashed together. but honestly i got it and like, yeah its cool, but i just dont really feel very accomplished. I didnt really have to try for it at all. I think somewhere between the old xp system and the current one would help make bp skins feel more special. I mean i personally dont find many of the bp skins after chapter one appealing in the first place, but making them a little harder to get would definitely help :(

The risky reels challenge gives me and many other OG's nightmares to this day.
I think the problem is that there is no level cap and they've decided to add styles up to level 200
I just hate, that i pay 10 euros for then having to look at ads. like all these collab skins, i pay for cool skins, not for an ad WHICH I PAYED FOR and dont even let me start with the emotes
Also another things that made the battle pass exciting was the originality of the skins and emotes. Now a days when a battle pass comes out it’s just anime’s skins, goth girls, tik Tok dances or icon skins. It’s just not exciting anymore. I used to buy every battle pass starting from season 2’s battle pass the season X. Once chapter 2 came out, I really only bought the battle passes that I thought were semi worth it. It’s just not exciting anymore

honestly for me I would rather play and level up instead of caring about challenges for lvl 100 I went too stressed during chapter 1 and it was so annoying now its fun because I get to do whatever I want without caring about needing to do challenges and not have fun
I remember having to do a spesific thing as a spesific character for some xp. And i also feel the battlepasses was more on theme. Take for example the paradise season with the chrome theme. This would be a great season to introduce scientists and myserious outfits. But rather we got a slurp bear with an anime bear inside it, 2 punk skins (One anime as well) And for some reason Meowskulls are there. Of course some of these skins are rlly cool. But i miss the days when we got a yeti, snowboarder, an ice king and Santa in the winter themed battlepass
The battlestar system isnt that great either. I feel like the progression is totally lost as it feels like im rather grinding for a currency rather than the items in the battlepass. Another thing in the battlepass is that the type of rewards have changed. Back in chapter 1 and chapter 2 season 1 the pickaxes, emotes, backblings and gliders were often just fun ideas epic came up with. But with the newer battlepasses all items are related to the skin on the same page. Double starter skins was also a good feature in the old passes. It made it so the lobbies weren't full of the same skin on season launch.
Another thing i miss relating to a previous point was the character challenges. After you unlocked a skin you would get a quest pack as well with xp and if you completed them all you would get a special reward like a pickaxe or emote.
This is so true. There is a lack of a common theme. and I never really liked the Battle Star system. I think without battle stars, you have a motive to continue grinding because you have no control of what item you get next in the Battle Pass; thus, back then, you would keep grinding until you got your desire, compared to now, where you simply purchase what you want based on your Battle Star count.
I personally like the new battlepasses in their own ways. Each skin has their own sort of character to them and the battlestars are a way better system then individual leveling. It was uninviting and odd to me after returning. But ive gotten used to it
I think one other change Fortnite should make is not only adding ALOT less collabs, but also making the storyline seem much less confusing and like its dragging out where nothing makes sense anymore. I also speak about the concept of adding UFOs, chrome, giga mega alien blasters and superpowers to Fortnite which in my opinion, just makes things a little less realistic. In Chapter 1, there was a simple meteor, worlds did collide (but it was nothing superficial with superpowers, crazy concepts e.x.), there was a volcano erupting and also other things. Yet, despite things like Kevin the cube (with the floating island) and perhaps some would deem this very fantasy-like and too crazy for a simple battle royale game, I thought it was a nice, simple edition which grew into something much more where we would feel a great sense of sentiment and value towards it. The floating island was just moving around, with the cube eventually ending up in loot lake and becoming the floating island - nothing BIG BIG but still very interesting, simple, intriguing and effective. There was the fight between the mech and the monster - it was simple, we all knew what was going to happen. We knew it was going to be a brawl, a fight which was built up by bunker Jonesy on the loading screens and the building of the mech. Overall, I find that Fortnite should either create a new, fresh storyline or continue with the storyline but make it much simpler, easier to understand and realistic concepts (which actually fit into a battle royale game - not some alien chrome substance and flying swords and shields). And yes, just please, no more collabs - please just make actually good-looking skins in the battle pass without any film character - be unique and create unique skins.
I honestly lost track of the Fortnite storyline after mid-Chapter 2. The storyline does have to get dragged out though, since if Fortnite ends their storyline, in a sense, the game has to end too. In other words, if the game continues on, the storyline needs to continue on. Great point!

There are so many collabs in the game right now that half of the community is demanding and wanted one of their favorite IP in the game.
That's why epic games are continuing to do collabs both in item shop and battle pass.
back in the day the challenges were unique and fun (some were stressful yes but thats what made it enjoyable and rewarding when you completed it) nowdays thought, the weekly challenges look exactly like the daily challenges, but they just added more of them. it just feels so repetitive
I would want something like a carrer rank that’s similar to CoD, because I don’t care much about cosmetics but I do want to show off a high level, and I don’t want it to reset every season
the one addition that ruined battle passes imo where battle stars just made it so drawn out cause instead of claiming the items instantly you now have to claim the starts then claim the items. the easiest way to make them interesting again is to just ditch battle stars

Yes it's the same thing as now but by playing casually or using those creative maps will reward you with less xp while completing challenges will grant you lots of xp

This new XP system is ass bc i grind challenges still to THIS DAY and i somehow get to level 500 and theres no reward for doing so, at some point i would like the whole BP and XP system to be completely changed to help the casual players level up and the "everyday" players
I do miss the old missions but at the same time I’m not a 13 yr old kid anymore, I don’t have time to spend hours upon hours grinding to finish a battle pass so the bee system is great for more casual players like me

When the hardest challenge I did for a tier hundred was season seven ice king gold style at the outlast 15,000 opponents challenge

I get what you're saying, and I could agree on a few things, but the way of leveling up in the game nowadays feels much better, or at least it seems like it. What if someone bought the battle pass but doesn't have all the live long day to complete the challenges and stuff? I think that's where the newer level up system is better.

getting items, especially skins in the battle pass doesn't feel rewarding or special anymore, it kind of feels like there not putting effort into the cosmetics you get, its just either a collaboration skin or some bad anime skin that looks the exact same as the one they put in the previous battle pass, now there have actually been some rather cool skins releases recently like kado thorne but when its just such an easy thing to obtain it loses its special factor like you used to never see ice kings or black knights running around everywhere

i've never played og fn but i can side with you. The xp just feels way to easy and i dont even have to stress. If i play the day for 1-2 hours a day ill hit level 200 before the season ends. Also, if you think about it they buffed battlepasses but to max it out you have to get level 200. The reason they are so stale is there isnt skins like calamity who if u did challengse for you'd get more styles. We have this but the styles are mid.

Agreed. I don't have as much time either, so I'm grateful for the XP system in that way. However, I feel as though the future generations of Fortnite won't be able to experience the type of fun we had in the Battle Pass. For those who still play on a regular basis, the Fortnite Battle Pass would get boring since there is a quicker method of progressing.

Imo I highly disagree with this, the battlepass itself doesnt feel rewarding, but the extra 100 levels worth of super-styles do feel very rewarding, and apex has a battlepass system where you also have to complete weekly challenges to complete it and I only finished a total 3/8 battlepasses I bought because of how annoying and stressful it is to have to do weekly challenges every week. The current system is fine and apart from the creative XP maps the XP is fine and doesnt feel like a second job to complete. The skins from the recent battlepass are terrible tho I would agree

Technically it’s not a waste of vbucks because the battle pass is 9 bucks only and the skin you get at the start is already usually worth it, originally I got season og pass just for spectra knight. (I did complete it later tho cuz why not)
They literally stuff the worst skins in the Battle Pass now.
I miss when the battlepass skins were original, and none of them were "colabs" or "anime", it really bugs me about the unoriginality
With ch1 bp i got tier 100 once because it was so hard now i get level 300 easy they need to bring back the difficulty
I remember the days I wanted to get the battle pass, now icba cuz all the skins r shit - I remember when the battle pass had nothing to do with the Fortnite “story” and it was just stuck to a theme. For example, season 2 was medieval and season 3 was space. Skins back then were creative and weren’t an anime skin with blue hair, with modern clothing…

I am sorry, but someone that have a job I prefer a easy BP to play with all my friends as much as we like...
School for me gets in the way a lot, and in some aspects, I'm grateful for this revamp of the XP System. However, I speak for the future generations who wouldn't be able to experience the fun and excitement of the Battle Pass. Challenges got stale, skins don't excite me, and the Battle Pass as a whole bores me. But, that could be because I aged. Fair point though. :)
@@noobkillr I feel a little the same, only a few skins in the BP ring my bell, e.g. only 2 in the last one Antonia and Kado, but my nephew that have being playing only a few seasons enjoy them a lot and for him it was a challenge because he got the BP for free only with the 300 free vbucks you can earn each season. I guess is more a point of view problem. I can buy any skin then I don't value them as much as the BP are free vbucks as you pay 950 and earn 1500.
@@Delfar That is so true. I guess as time goes, and you have more V-Bucks, skins also lose value because you've gained value/became spoiled.
My First Battle Pass Was Chapter 1 Season 6, I Really Loved It. I Absolutely Loved The Season 7 Battle Pass Because It Had Cool Skins Including The Lynx Skin! It Is My Main Skin To This Day!
It's not that bp got easier to get, but rather it has just become the baseline, anything else is just better. Older bp skins outperformed shop skins, unlike now that shop skins outperforms bp skins. It's an afterthought and with the addition of 100 levels of bp of extra rewards skins that should be visually impactful, the bar for the first 100 skins was lowered.
There is a dilution of battlepasses, uglification if you wanna call it that way, in order to boost sales of course. I don't solely blame Epic's Fortnite, every AAA is struggling with quality right now, and why would they produce quality stuff when microtransactions outsells those things. It's the norm today, the effect of games as live service.
To be fair they seem to struggle to balance things out, either mechanics are developed, map is expanded, skins are expanded, modes are expanded, but not all at once as it's a large amount of content and investment to them.

What I hate is that characters aren’t cool anymore
I dunno if this counts, but I played during Season 9 and tried my hardest to get all the challenges done the day they came out so I wouldn't stress on the last day of the season. I was pretty successful I guess.
Okay number 1. Chapter 1 battle passes had like 2 pickaxes and was probaly 30% sprays, emoticons and banners while at least in Chapter 5 tthere is 8 skins, 8 pickaxes, 8 babck blings 1 for every skin, with styles and you can get more rewards as they dont have to be 100 because of battle stars. so keep holding onto your opinion!
