G'day guys if you make one again lightly cook the pineapple as it brings the natural sugars out, shred the lettuce, use BBQ sauce, and a good cheddar cheese. Salt and pepper, and yes use a short cut bacon. Cheers
When I lived in China one of my mates Matt was the chef at the Holiday Inn steak restaurant. A mate and I went for dinner and Matt cooked Australian style hamburgers for us. A couple of Americans saw what we got and came over and asked where it was on the menu. We explained the situation and Matt came out and agreed that he would cook them for the two Americans the next day (they had already ordered from the menu). the feedback was entirely positive.
Toast the bun and butter it. Meat in the pan Bacon in the pan Onions in the pan Pineapple in the pan When onions are almost done break the egg on them (it holds the onions together.) Flip the meat and stack each item as it cooks on top of the meat pattie to keep warm. On bun bottom lettuce tomato beetroot then your fried stack. Slice of cheese on that. Sauce on top bun then put on top. Eat

I just wanted to express how happy this video made me. I really enjoyed watching you and your family try your own variation on the classic Aussie style burger. the point of this burger is that every Aussie has their own preferred variation, some with bacon and some with out but always with the beet root and whatever vegetables that one prefers. I adored the end and was also happy with the kid exploring new tastes. Thank you for a great video and I am so glad you enjoyed your burgers.
Yum! Amazing and well done! The only thing I would suggest is wait till your oil is super hot before adding the onions, they'll brown quicker and won't get sogged with oil. Very impressed by your efforts to do this, hope it becomes a regular in your household!!
Sauce is a personal preference in terms of bbq or tomato, mine is smokey bbq. Little tips to reduce the height of the burger so you can actually eat it without dislocating your jaw is one ring of pineapple, instead of the two you had. Also, having fried egg without using the ring, makes it lower. It will overhang the sides a bit, but that's not really a problem. And bacon. Definitely needs bacon. Australians use a slightly different cut of meat for our bacon, with a video below showing the difference. For burgers, we tend to use what we call "short cut" bacon, which is basically the "middle rasher" as shown in the video linked below, with the tail cut away. The middle rasher has much less fat and it's delicious. The best burgers in Australia are wider than they are tall. They get special buns that are thinner than most burger buns, but have a bigger diameter. Then all the fillings are made thinner. You get the same amount of fillings as normal, but they're spread to cover a wider bun, all so you can actually bite into it without having to squeeze it down to fit into your mouth, fillings going everywhere. Fantastic that you tried it, it's amazing. A quick bit of feedback though... Grill/fry/brown off your pineapple, add bacon, the onions are also a bit under done. Gotta push it to caramelised, not just cooked. ;). I strongly recommend giving that modification a go, as the tastes change significantly based on preparation. - with those changes, I'm pretty sure you'll change it to a 10 ;).
It's the sliced beetroot and the pineapple that gives you that refreshing taste you're talking about. Makes the burger much juicier. If there's one more thing you could add and that would be finely grated fresh carrot. Also to change it up a little, use thick sliced fresh bread, take out the egg and beef patty and use a nice portion of crumbed fish. No added herbs and spices to the fish, fairly plain and just standard crumbs. You'll go into a food coma.

Then you change it up by adding as your choice , cheese, bacon, egg, pineapple. Or all at once for the mega burger which if you can eat two with everything you will be lucky.

Love that you guys are trying new things with an Aussie twist🙂. What you served up is very close to an Aussie works burger or burger with the lot. Burgers are like anything else, open to personal taste and adjustments. It's really not that serious lol. Truth is Aussies all have their own preferences too on what to include and leave off. You don't *have* to have bacon. Only things I'd suggest is reducing the pineapple to one slice to make it a bit less tall. And as others have mentioned you can fry/warm that in the pan if you like to add to the sweetness and warmth. Some people use BBQ sauce instead of tomato's sauce. And some like mayo too. It's all down to preferences.
Thank you ❤ I appreciate your kind words lol and it’s so cool that there are lots of variations for this recipe! I love me some Mayo on my buns regularly so that and adding bacon next time, yasss 😊 ❤
While growing up, did anyone else have that awesome Takeaway shop that was owned by a local Italian family & they made burgers with mustard pickles? Not bbq or tomato sauce. To this day I order my burgers without sauce & add mustard pickles at home because no shops carry it anymore. It’s so freakin’ good…the tartness + sweet pineapple + beetroot etc.🤌🏼
Banana and custard is a popular desert in Australia, we have it in a regular icecream bowl, we usually buy the custard, dice up some bananas then pore the custard all over almost filling the bowl 😉
For me its one leaf of lettuce, beef patty, cheese, bacon, caramelised onions with a couple burnt ones, fountain BBQ sauce, beetroot, tomato, second leaf of lettuce. All on a toasted sesame seed burger bun.
10:58 also I like to put Lea and Perrens and tomato sauce. Which was available at all the old chip shops at the counter, nowadays I have a bottle at home .
Mate, the '80's and '90's were the absolute golden years of "Milk Bar"s in Australian suburbs. They were everywhere and most had astoundingly good burgers that you could properly load up (one with the lot). Chiko Rolls, Hamburgers, sometimes charcoal chickens. But always burgers. Now it's hard to find one.
Hey.. that's cool you gave this a try and everyone (even the kiddos!) enjoyed. Like many other comments, slight variations to the recipe to suit the individual's taste. My go is; beef patty, cheddar cheese slice, bacon, egg, pineapple, beetroot, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo & tomato relish! It's all about the portions too, the bun to keep it together and not too messy.
I'm an Australian i can say we typically put the salad on the bun first and then put the meat on next. When I worked in a takeaway shop we built out burgers the following way Bun, lettuce, beetroot, tomato, pineapple, egg, meat pattie, sauce, onion, cheese, bun. If we were adding bacon the bacon went on either before or after the egg. Some takeaway shops put the onion on before the sauce too. And rarely was it tomato sauce/ketchup as the sauce on a burger, it is usually BBQ sauce.
I love how open iWrocker is to the Aussie experience. The dude needs to down under ASAP. I am sure tons of fans of this channel would give him somewhere to stay for free. :-)
I eat these burgers as a triple meat patty, double of the bacon rashes, two eggs, beetroot, double cheese, pineapple, tomatoes and letters with tomatoes sauce (Ketchup)... Great Tucker
Best part of the Aussie hamburger for me isn’t even the burger it’s the memories of my dad making them for us. We would call them dad’s burgers. We’d beg mum during the summer for dad to make them. Bloody amazing that you gave it a shot guys.
Only one slice pineapple but cook it in frypan, bacon cheese egg, lettuce on the bottom with tomato, beetroot, beef ,cooked onion and sauce, ive worked in fish n chip shops for years cooking burgers, steak sandwiches, yirros etc
Spread a little mayonnaise onto the base of the bun. Add the lettuce, then place the cheese-covered patty on top. Add the bacon, pineapple, beetroot, tomato and egg, then add your barbecue sauce and secure the top of the bun with a skewer. Serve immediately.
No. Assembly follows common sense and efficient work flow. The salad is put on the buttered toasted bun while all the hot things are cooking. When cooked they are stacked on the hotplate and lifted on to the salad. Sauce and top go on. Have you never seen a hamburger with the lot cooked in a fish and chip shop?
@@midnightkitchen8379 what I mentioned I have been making it since I was young it really fills you up ideal for lunch you won't feel hungry until dinner ☺
I found a 'naise in Coles a couple of years back that made a big difference to my home cooked burgers. Coles brand "picklenaise"... this stuff is the best! Works with beef burgers but also good when doing chicken schnitzel burgers or fish finger sangas
Sauce and beetroot go directly either side of the beef patty for me. Beetroot and beef are like bacon and eggs, they go so well together. If I'm out for brunch, I eat the egg and bacon first on one half of the bun, that's breakfast, then the rest on the other half, and that's lunch.
Aussies always have bacon as well . Usually we only put one piece of pineapple on it , back in my younger days I use to work in shops , fish shops and so on . Our burgers are better than all those junk food like Maccas and hungry jacks . Aussies rule 🥰🥰🥰
I'm not a big eater so one 'burger with the lot' used to be a meal for me for a day. We can't really get them in Australia any more (I'm talking Sydney) because there are no more milk bars and corner shops that make them, for better or worse Australia has become a very 'foodie' country with interesting food but I still miss the 'burger with the lot' and can only make it at home now. My local shop used to caramelise the onions and pineapples and scorch the bacon as well.
@@velvetandchester mate, next time I’ll be the lookout for sure, but I can travel the M4, M5 and M8 and not see a truck stop, but this has given me hope
In Melbourne the old fish and chip shops also make burgers. That is almost a burger with the lot, all that's missing is bacon. My all time favourite burger has to have pineapple. Well done👏👏👏👏🇦🇺 A burger chain of restaurants here has a burger with pineapple, its close enough to the lot, I just add whatever is missing from their recipe.
As you were about to take a bite, I was saying wrap ya laughin gear around that! 😆 The funny part about it is that the burger looked smaller in diameter than the ones we usually get in the takeaway shops here, lol 😆. Seriously though, if you put bacon on it and BBQ sauce, you would rate it from a 9 to a 10.😊
@midnightkitchen8379 oh yeah they are so good when they are done right. We (my mum and dad, I was only 17) used to have a shop in 1988-1990 making pies including gourmet recipes, sausage rolls roast pork and roast beef for putting on rolls with chips and gravey and apple sauce for the pork. People came from far and wide to have our food. Our works burgers which is what you made minus the bacon was so big that it was always a bit of a task to fit into the paper bag normally meant for burgers lol
one slice of pineapple, beetroot, fried egg, bacon, fried onion, lettuce, tomato, Sauce (tomato or bbq), hamburger patty, open cut bun needs to be grilled too. Lastly, of course, cheese.
I start with lettuce on the base followed by tomato then beetroot, cheese and pineapple followed by the meat with onion on top topped with tomato sauce then bacon and an egg and for a finish some more sauce then the top of the bun. Wrap it in some baking paper leaving on side out. This way you can eat the burger and contain the juices in the wrapper as you eat.
Great effort guys. Probably what we would call a tropical burger. As someone else commented very close to a "lot" burger. Very good effort was great to watch. Cheers from oz
almost a works burger, slightly bigger roll, bacon, small amount of grated carrot, bacon, cooked pineapple, runny egg and bbq sauce. then it's a 10. the meat is usually plain beef with salt and pepper seared on the outside and cooked through for that perfect beef taste.
It's good to see that Aussie burgers are built NZ style. Now you know how to make great homemade burgers from now on. Great tasting healthy burgers Kiwi (not Aussie) style.
I love these burgers. If I buy them from a store I get this one with the egg, pineapple, beets, tomato, cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, fried onions and lettuce. Had it with an Aussie beer 'Great Northern' on Australia Day. It's the best.
Your beetroot would taste different I think. Libby's beetroot lists ingredients as - beet, water and sea salt. Golden Circle brand beetroot has - Beetroot (62%), Water, Sugar, Food Acid (Acetic Acid), Salt, Herb & Spice Flavours. Acetic acid is from vinegar.
Hey Great video. Many years ago my parents and myself had a café and gas station. Our hamburgers were well know with travellers to the snow fields and the meat pies even more so. Have a story about the pies but only if you want to hear about it!
Cook the pineapple a little so it carmelises a bit,put the soft fried egg first on the bread so when you bite into it the yolk runs on to rhe bread & it soaks into the bread, then top with the bacon .then the beef pattie, only cook the onions slightly so they still remain a little crunchy.then when you put the burger together once you flip the pattie to cook the other side top it with the onion first then slice of cheese so it melts over the onion & holds the onions in place.then the ketchup ,then assemble your burger & add the sliced tomato, s& p on the tonato then lettuce % mayo on the top slice of bread next to the lettuce..i used to work at a road house & thats how i was taught to put them together.yumm

Definitely barbecue sauce!
That was so nice to see you trying an Aussie burger. You inspired me to make one for my dinner. Thanks
Nice! 😎🎉
Banana and custard is a popular desert in Australia, we have it in a regular icecream bowl, we usually buy the custard, dice up some bananas then pore the custard all over almost filling the bowl 😉
iT'S NOT FAIR. you just made me get off my seat and start cooking.. you could have finished it with a slice of BACON good job you done well.. cheers
Hehe 😎🎉🤣
❤❤love you guys, glad youre enjoying it, Emma and Andrew little cuties! LOVE Emma's score, and outro 😂❤
The 14 out of 10 was legend.
That's it Everyone stacks it different and that can make difference to the overall experience.
We have lettuce, patty, egg, sauce, tomato bacon, cheese, beetroot, pineapple. Toasted bun.
Yeh that'll work 👌@@prdcuc
For me its one leaf of lettuce, beef patty, cheese, bacon, caramelised onions with a couple burnt ones, fountain BBQ sauce, beetroot, tomato, second leaf of lettuce. All on a toasted sesame seed burger bun.
So awesome to see and really glad you’s enjoying it!
A little bbq sauce on there with bacon will make it a 10 for you trust me bro just try it
4:48 best served piping hot with a soft fried egg , and Australian tasty cheese and bacon
10:58 also I like to put Lea and Perrens and tomato sauce. Which was available at all the old chip shops at the counter, nowadays I have a bottle at home .
Love your enthusiasm for our culture. As others have said put a few rashers of bacon and grill the pineapple
🎉🎉 enjoy! So glad you enjoyed it! They are the best type of burgers!
Awesome tasting of the Aussie burger and interesting reaction 😂
Aussie burgers with the lot made in a fish and chip shop are the best, fresh and home-made. They are a meal in a bun
Hey.. that's cool you gave this a try and everyone (even the kiddos!) enjoyed.
Go Emma! lol
Beetroot on a burger is a must 🤤. Now come yr summer cook everything on the bbq and get that char in there…can bbq the pineapple but not the beetroot
It's funny how the Aussies call it the Aussie burger because over here we call it the kiwi burger 😂😂
Who calls it a Kiwi buger - are you from Melbourne???
A burger with kiwi fruit sounds a bit sus, or do you mean the bird? LOL
That's a good burger when it falls apart 😋
You take the big bite, and the beetroot squeezes out the back, and you either eat it separately, or stick it back in.
Needed bacon as well.
Hamburger with the lot it’s called here in Australia. If you don’t want plastic McDonalds go for the real thing. 🇦🇺👍🏼🇺🇸🤘🏻
It's crazy that a processed and smaller Big Mac is almost the same price (AUD) as a larger hamburger with the lot from a local fish and chip shop.
Well, it is in Victoria at least. A lot of New South Welshmen call it a "Works Burger"
Ok it's currently 6pm here in Melbourne and I'm already cooking dinner, but really want this burger now.
Glad you enjoyed it from an Aussie. It's making me hungry watching this!
Awe the kids eating an saying subscribe was so cute!
I love this approach. You guys need to cook more!
Thank you ❤ we do. We have a roll that we need to make soon vegemite cinnamon rolls we got. 😊
@@midnightkitchen8379 YUM, can’t wait…… If i may suggest have a recipe that follows for an airfryer if you have!
Best part of the Aussie hamburger for me isn’t even the burger it’s the memories of my dad making them for us. We would call them dad’s burgers. We’d beg mum during the summer for dad to make them. Bloody amazing that you gave it a shot guys.
The fact that it’s falling apart as you eat it, means you’ve made it right! 🍔
Hamburger with the lot, from a fish’n’chip shop - simply heaven. Nice job.
Only one slice pineapple but cook it in frypan, bacon cheese egg, lettuce on the bottom with tomato, beetroot, beef ,cooked onion and sauce, ive worked in fish n chip shops for years cooking burgers, steak sandwiches, yirros etc
Little em's gonna run CZcams when she grows up 😂😂
It seems so, lol she is definitely getting her own channel soon 😊she loves being like daddy
Spread a little mayonnaise onto the base of the bun. Add the lettuce, then place the cheese-covered patty on top. Add the bacon, pineapple, beetroot, tomato and egg, then add your barbecue sauce and secure the top of the bun with a skewer. Serve immediately.
Mayonaise? Real dairy butter!
Nice! We definitely need to try variations of this! It will become a new addition to our meals! The kids loved it 😊
Lol love it 😊
Aussies always have bacon as well .
Still a pretty popular option in Victoria from fish and chip shops
Still can find them, but you generally need to go to Fish & Chip places. Paul's Famous Hamburgers in Sylvania is still excellent for these too
guarantee you can get a works burger at any truck stop
@@velvetandchester mate, next time I’ll be the lookout for sure, but I can travel the M4, M5 and M8 and not see a truck stop, but this has given me hope
In Melbourne the old fish and chip shops also make burgers. That is almost a burger with the lot, all that's missing is bacon. My all time favourite burger has to have pineapple.
Well done👏👏👏👏🇦🇺
A burger chain of restaurants here has a burger with pineapple, its close enough to the lot, I just add whatever is missing from their recipe.
Does Melbourne even have anything old school Aussie still? I bet everything is woke halal style now to not offend anyone 🌈🤣
@@ACDZ123 No there wouldn't be many old style fish and chips shops or should I say, hardly any but gee they were good.
As you were about to take a bite, I was saying wrap ya laughin gear around that! 😆
The funny part about it is that the burger looked smaller in diameter than the ones we usually get in the takeaway shops here, lol 😆.
Seriously though, if you put bacon on it and BBQ sauce, you would rate it from a 9 to a 10.😊
Lol haha if that looked smaller than the ones over there, then that will definitely fill you up alll day. Can’t wait to try one in Australia yumm
I feel like the real fish and chips shop works burger should have that big flat square bun.
Aussie burgers are about freshness and flavour explosions in your mouth.
It will become a 10/10 once you add the bacon - *yummo*
I agree 😊
You guys will lose your bloody minds when you finally get to try a pineapple fritter.
PA Fritter on the burger, awesome. I just made this comment above lol.
Okay…. That sounds delicious 😮❤
@@midnightkitchen8379 it really is. It's a pineapple ring breaded and fried in a sugar and cinnamon seasoning.
Mhmm, fried pineapple with batter and cinnamon sugar sprinkled on 🤤
That looked pretty good, Ian 👍🏼. Cheese and bacon go well with it as well. Glad you both enjoyed it, mate 🤗.
one slice of pineapple, beetroot, fried egg, bacon, fried onion, lettuce, tomato, Sauce (tomato or bbq), hamburger patty, open cut bun needs to be grilled too. Lastly, of course, cheese.
10 with bacon 🥓
Now THAT is a burger!
A bit like the V8 supercars, we've taken the American original and improved it!
Its un Australia to not have beetroot. Glad u like it mate. Take care. Love from Australia 🦘
CZcamsr 'The Macmaster' flew to Australia today to try some of their foods. His first time over there, should be interesting.
Glad you liked it guys I actually love American style burgers but still enjoy a good old Aussie burger as well
Being a Tasmanian i LOVE the Tassie number plate on the wall! Love this channel...Keep up the great content!
almost a works burger, slightly bigger roll, bacon, small amount of grated carrot, bacon, cooked pineapple, runny egg and bbq sauce. then it's a 10.
the meat is usually plain beef with salt and pepper seared on the outside and cooked through for that perfect beef taste.
It's good to see that Aussie burgers are built NZ style. Now you know how to make great homemade burgers from now on. Great tasting healthy burgers Kiwi (not Aussie) style.
Lucky Australia has Pavlova 😂😂😂
@@johnpage7735 Only because we sent you the recipe.
@@cadifan Stir complete, bait taken. Hahahah
Stole our lamingtons and now our burgers! What kind of shenanigans is this? 😝
Your video made me smile very much. You are a lovely couple. Cheers
Hi Guys
Your burgers looked Awesome
Great job 👏
I ess trying to find your lamination post cause I wanted to suggest that with a half sized cake mix, use a smaller cake tim to bake as your pan was to big which is why it didn't rise and a bit less cooking time ❤
I love our Aussie burgers, especially when we have our summers, yum 😋
This is the order I'd put everything on it,
1. Hamburger on toasted bun
2. Bacon
3. Egg
4. Onions
5. Bbq or Tomato sauce as us Aussie's would say or Ketchup as American's would say.
6. Beetroot
7. Pineapple
8. Tomato
9. Lettuce
10. Bun
Also, I like salt n pepper on my burgers too. Yum enjoy 😋
Also toast your buns bcos this adds crunch to the burger, and according to individual taste you can fry the pineapple to.
And if you go to MacDonald's over here at Oz we offer the Aussie burger 😊.
1:45. You did it almost right. The way you layer the burger enhances the flavour. Lettuce tomato meat egg bacon sauce cheese bun on top. Woo Hoo! I made these professionally for 5 years.
Stew. Maitland Australia
Top work I had the style burger today for lunch.
There are some other things you could add but you got all the best bits.
Love your content keep it up.
Im in Sydney , I justed cooked along with u so i got a fair idea on how that tastes... Well done Hornouerary Aussie u guys. Also i can't Sprell good.
