- just having some fun and racing the Stihl MS261CM and the Stihl MS362CM as I buck some firewood.
super sharp full chisel chain and the 18" Tsumura light bar used on the MS362CM and the standard Stihl 16" bar and sharp full chisel chain used on the MS261CM
The MS362CM is the next step up from the MS261CM and the power increase shows in the speed test times
MS261CM 6.01seconds
MS362CM 3.18 seconds
nearly twice as fast - Jak na to + styl
Rakers need some work on that 261 or a sharp chain. Lots of dust and no load. Should be about the same speed with that diameter of wood.
Hi, the 261 is a smaller chain .325” compared to the 362 which is 3/8”. I find the 261 hasn’t the guts to manage an aggressive raker, but I’ll have to give this a try again in the future.
@@TheRuralProject any chain size is affected by rakers being too high. Like I said it's either a dull chain or the rakers need to be filed down because that 261 was screaming and going nowhere with a lot of dust. I have both these saws and the 261 get all the run time around this size and smaller because it cuts as fast or faster and a whole lot lighter! If you really want to wake them up you should do a muffler mod. They sound mean and cut even meaner.
Thanks for the advice. Muffler mod….. might be a future project.
@@TheRuralProject you get that muffler mod done? Check out a new short I posted. It's a 261 vs 391 just for kicks but the 261 is modded and running through a larger fresh red oak. If I had gone down twice the difference would have been even greater.
Please use brand new factory chains for future comparisons.
That 362 had a full chisel chain you could see the chip difference
Sharp eyes. Well spotted. Yep the 362 is full chisel and the 261 is semi chisel. ( bit blunt and needing a sharpen )
I have just been completing a few more comparison videos and re running this test, stay tuned.
There is difference between them but not so huge. The chain on The 261 is bad. Change to 1,3mm 3/8p and see The little one chasing The bigger Sister mate!
The 261 chain was not sharp enough either. Didn’t realise at the time but clear on the video.
I’ve been thinking of changing the chain to 3/8, but I have to say, with a sharp chain it’s a ripper of a saw just bog standard.
@@TheRuralProject of course it is not sharp. And yes it is a very fast saw even with that child chain but The 3/8p is even better I promise!
Sharpen the chain on the 261. That dust was so fine it looked like smoke
Hi, I’ve just been recording some more videos with a sharp chain, I’ll release those videos in the future.
The 261 needed a sharpen and the rakers needed dropping a tad
Both are great saws :) As others have said, the 26 in particular is pretty blunt, but I don't mean that nastily. With a 14" bar, even the little MS180 is great for wood no bigger than this, just not if you do it regularly because it isn't a professional-grade saw like these two.
Safe cutting!
Thanks for watching. I agree, I have the full compliment of saws, it’s surprising what the 170 will cut through with a sharp chain, but I still think the 261 ( with a sharp chain) is hard to beat for all round firewood work.
The 261 is a beast of a little saw! Throw the 362 out get a 400. It'll change your life
I’ve also got the 462, no pocket money for another saw. I’ve heard the 400 and 500 are great saws. For me, the ideal is 261, 462 which is great for most firewood jobs, and 660 for the big stuff and milling
Biggest saw with a smaller bar is the way to go. I only use my 661 for everything firewood related now, just quickly swap between a 20" and 36" bar once i get far enough up from the base.
Ive got a 231 i bought for limbing and its great on its own, but back to back with the pro saw it feels waaay too slow.
yep, plenty of power really helps but I find I get too tired if a use the Farmertec MS660 for hours bucking firewood, I might need to grow some muscles😂
Oz?
Yep. Just north of Melbourne.
Home of the Aussie Hardwood, some of this wood is brutally tough and twisted, and the dry wood is hard on chains.
Don’t let the haters get to ya, no matter what you do they can always file better cut better and have to have the biggest saws even if there cutting brush.
Hi, I hear you, there are some negative people about who I’ll never understand, but luckily most have been positive and helpful. Thanks for watching.
Do love a 261, but you tried a 550xp mk 2?
Hi, I've never tried any of the Husqvarna's, the 550 looks great and gets great reviews, but I'm a stihl man. Do you have the 550 XP ?
@@TheRuralProject yeah I have 550 mk2 great all rounder
I did and I haven't been involved in worse shit in my lite. Weak soft shit that is broken all The time and I mean ABSOLUTELY all The time. We've got more The 10 of them, only one has not been broken, rest is a crap! 261 beats them like nothing! Cheers
362 is the best it's fast and strong and doesn't weigh a ton
its certainly was best in this test, but I have to say the 261 is a great saw, even less weight and when cutting smaller stuff its really impressive. I need to do some more tests with the 261, but this time have a sharper chain, the 261 chain was too dull for this test. Thanks for watching and commenting
i dont know the situation, but to me the 261 could use some chain work.
Hi, yep agree, I needed a bit more off the rakers. I’m due to do another comparison and next time the 261 will be on equal terms showing. Thank for watching.
Extremely dull chain on the 261C-M... Anyone can see that.. By the way - 661C-M is a lot faster and cooler than 362C-M. 261 and 362 are too close in performance.. You would like either a 400C-M or 661C-M being your "big saw"😊😊
Hi. Thanks for watching. Lots of people have mentioned the dull chain, it’s time for another test, this time with a sharp chain.
I’ve built up the chainsaws over the years, getting bigger and bigger but never actually selling one. I now have the 661cm. Love it.
Essa motoserra desregula fácil o carburador ?
Qual sua opinião depois de um bom tempo de uso dela ?
Hi, I think you were asking if its easy to adjust the carb, in short No, the M tronic is automatic adjustment, so you cannot manually adjust them. The 261 is a fantastic firewood saw and so is the 362, I've used them both for years and never had a complaint, just don't go big bar on the 362, I find 18" best
any noticeable difference on the weight??
Hi, thanks for watching. Yep, the 261 is 4.9kg, very light and balanced, the 261 is 700gram lighter than the 362
261 is blunt af
Had a few comments the same. Time for a rematch, next time
I might use the same bar and chain for better comparison. The 261 is normally a little beast.
@@TheRuralProject it is I have one
Jó életlen lánccal 😢
Thanks for watching. The chain on the 261 is not sharp enough and needs a sharpen.
Subscribe red button is overtop your times
Cheers, I need to start putting the text at the top of the video, too much info getting added by CZcams at the bottom.
What a comparison???😆If someone is working a lot with chainsaw in first seconds of this video tell u that chain on 261 is dull or chain tooth limiters are too high (should be equal 0.65mm). Maybe also floating wheel on clutch basket is exhaust or is with 8 teeth not as oryginal 7th. With 7 teeth is faster. Does chain is 325 pitch or 3/8? If this is m-tronic version when was the last calibration. Good is also to check oiling system for bar. I know that 362 is great chainsaw but 261 is also very good. Hah i watched second time ur video and looks on scobs! For ur 261 scobs looks as a flour😆 i m sure that something is wrong with chain.
Hi, a few people commented that the rakers needed a touch up. I do run the rakers a bit more aggressive and the awesome 261 cuts much better.
Thanks for watching.
Przecież 261 ma tępy łańcuch.
Yep, lots of comments about the 261 chain. Just done another comparison, I’ll edit and upload soon.
