i dont see the problem with the reviewer, he plays a few simple basslines and explains the controls and tones you can get out of it. and i feel like i have a pretty good idea of how the bass sounds. not the most exciting human there is, but i have seen much much much worse. lets all be happy this wasnt shawn hammond, that dude has a face and voice for print media..
It's an active bass; you will never be able to judge the tone of an active bass like that unless you're playing it yourself, know what you're doing, and are able to fiddle with the EQ. I love active basses as mainly a studio player myself. Super versatile. I feel like the majority of comments are from non-players, beginners, ego-puffed players that have yet to be humbled, and just plain dummies. Beautiful bass. Paul makes/designs gorgeous instruments. CZcams comments remind me of how much people remain within their own bubble. Rather than being intrigued in something new/different like, "interesting, I would like to learn more," the generations today react more in the fashion of, "I heard this about this and learning sounds like a lotta work and have my government benefits kicked in yet? I really don't feel like job-searching today."
I'm not sure I get the electronics 100%. If you pull up just one volume knob, can you play the bass with one pickup in passive mode and the other pickup in active mode at the same time? If so, the tonal possibilities are endless.
well, the only thing I lack is a demo of the B string along with the others. So, the B-string might sound ok, but I am not at all suer if it's as loud as the others.
I like it and I have played one and in the flesh (so to speak) this is nice bass that when your hear it all the negative $300 bass comments will soon change.
@@martinluthierking Not sure I think I forgot some information ? This was awhile ago. I think I put incorrect price on it . The one I played was $8500 US . and they are pricey but very nice indeed.
The reviewer is fine. He repeated himself, however, never showed us anything about the EQ, and the bass sound is quite audibly distorted. Also, I would like to have heard the WHOLE bass, including some high notes.
My only issue is the bass comes out of the left speaker only. The playing isn't flashy but doesn't need to be for demos. Seems set up pretty well too, a lot of that clack isn't heard in mixes.
Tyler Mills Yea his playing isn't the most sophisticated or flashy like you said, but all in all, I think he achieved the goal of a demo. That is, to demonstrate the more useable tones of the instrument and go over it's specs and features.
@@radio7353 Sorry but despite my love for PRS, this thing can be outperformed by a Yamaha in the sub $500 range. It boggles my mind that they cant get basses right despite having such expertise and probably the best build consistency in the major market for guitars.
@@2v_5r84 I'd say .. I guess he rolls off the low-end and listens to nothing but mids and highs while listening to music .. absolutely nothing wrong with this review

Hey thanks Dave for hitting the low B string.
Best looking bass I've seen from PRS. Well done!
Great review Sir. That bass is amazing.
This bass seems like a hybrid of two previous basses that Gary played-a StingRay and a Ken Smith. Killer looks and killer tone!!!

Paul Reed Smith is a genius when it comes to electric guitars and bass guitars. And I love his designs for those instruments.
Holy smokes,that sounds great!
2:13 Those two or three notes kind of reminds me of Mastodon's "Curl of the Burl"
Beautiful instrument..... no passive tone control?
I want one.....

isn't that what a compressor is used for
I think this guy seems pretty cool tbh.

I don't know why you guys are giving the guy such a hard time. Creating a good demo probably isn't that easy, and I think he did a decent job.

rig rundown METALLICA \m/
I wonder i they will ever get someone that can actually play guitar or bass
Cool review but nothing special about the bass.
The bridge destroy the look of that bass
Yes
That bridge setup is ridiculous. The strings are completely loosen. I guess this isn't the best sound of this bass.
I'll give ya 50 bucks
sounds like a bass.
Sounds like a $300 bass.
I thought the passive mode sounded great, but the active sound is exactly as you describe it: a $300 bass
To be fair, the amp kinda murdered the tone of this bass. lol

$5k new no thank you.
Sounds horrible. I'm sure it's not the bass.
Ceramic serially wired humbuckers will do that for you.
I'm am not impressed...The fender 5 string does better job than this bass
That bass costs a fortune just to be played by an underground jazz musician
The best bassists in the world are jazz musicians, so it follows that they should and often do, have the nicest, most expensive instruments.
Ya wanna know the difference between a jazz musician and a large pizza? A large pizza can feed a family of four.
"Hi, my name is Dave Abdo, and I'm the most boring bass player and reviewer on Earth."
no its not
Bass has zero warmth..
Nice bass, I will never pay 4 grand for that, nothing special in my opinion
Get a proper reviewer
The most boring instrument known to man, why would anyone pick bass over guitar?
Most stupid guy known to man, why would any girl pick you over someone more open minded
What a dumb comment
