And Miroslav is now the president of the Slovak ice hockey federation. Hopefully they will continue to produce highly rank prospect like Slafkovski, Nemec and Mesar under his guidance.

He was one of my favorite players growing up. As a teen I worked at the Cave of the Winds in Niagara Falls NY. I think in his second year in Buffalo Satan showed up and brought his parents in. It was cool because no one knew who he was but me. He was low key with sunglasses and I remember him and his father wearing Bauer hats. I asked him for his autograph on his ticket stub. He was surprised and asked how I knew it was him. His parents seemed really cool and happy that he was recognized. Awesome guy
I always traded him to New Jersey in the video game.
Simple sad fact was that he never played for NJ.
Something I do on a fairly regular basis, is I’ll search up random hockey players, and read their Wiki page. Learning about their careers, and stats they put up. Anyone else do that?
His lone goal of that 09 Cup season was my favorite goal of that run. Out of the penalty box, beat Cam Ward on a gorgeous deke, opened the scoring in the 09 ECF.
In the mid-to-late '90s, I worked as an A/V Tech for the Lightning and Sun Sports, and one of my friends from the Fox Sports crew referred to Miroslav Satan as "the Great Satan.". ;) After all these years, it's nice to know that "the Great Satan" is being honored by the Hockey Guy. :)
His stint in Pittsburgh may have been brief, but I loved hearing the announcer say his name, and I owned the NHL 09 game so he was permanently connected to the Pens for me. Really happy he got a career video for me to watch!
I’m from Buffalo and met him once at the Mall. He was really humble and quiet. Didn’t have anything for him so sign though. Oddly enough he was wearing a windbreaker outfit. Which to be fair were really popular in Eastern European countries at the time.

Was so sad the Bruins didn't bring him back for the 10-11 season he was always one of my favs that didn't play in Boston
after his generation aged out, slovak hockey was left rudderless, he helped right the ship. was the GM of the national team, president of our hockey federation, put systems in place, brought in craig ramsay as the head coach and we saw the results in this years nhl draft. definitely a hero here. we had players with better stats, but i don't think there's a player who the slovak people love more than miroslav satan. our captain, always.

Something I liked from Miroslav Satan was the fact that he played hard every game and gave it his all. He also wasn't afraid of the rough stuff either.

Yeah, as a Slovak hockey fan - he is definitely one of the "golden boys" of our golden hockey era. He was very -present- (for lack of a better word) in the games during world chamionships. He had some of the best goals of the representation (silver game against Czechs when he escaped during Czech powerplay: chefs kiss).

Failed to mention in 2016 he was general manager of Team Europe, and in 2019 elected president of Slovak Ice Federation. He's Mr. Slovakia.
You could make the case for Marian Hossa for Mr. Slovakia, he is a national hero there and he married Miss Slovakia.
He's one of the nicest people in sports and he's got three cups.

This was great, I love your career retrospectives. I wish you would do a Mario Tremblay career vid. Many only know him as the coach who ran Roy out of Montreal but he was an excellent player on a dynasty and deserves some credit
Agree that it would have been epic for him to play for the Devils.
At the end of his career my daughter was working at Notre Dame and sometimes went to their collegiate hockey games. I so wanted to get her a Satan jersey to wear to games, but was worried that some of the folks there would be offended and harass her.

It was always funny hearing people say "Why is there a player with 'Satan' written on the back of his jersey?" Oh, how I loved to make up answers to that question. Sorry Miroslav, the truth wouldn't have been as much fun. :)

Realy loved the guy at buffalo, solid player, not to fancy but always delivering and did his job! I remember wearing his sabres shirt with the goat head and name and nr. 81 on the back on a festival. Ppl thought it was a band shirt…..

Excellent player. As many pointed out throughout the years, he would have been a fan favorite in NJ.
I first heard of him when playing against the Sabres in NHL 2004 with my buddy, we both did a double take when we saw the puck go to a player named "SATAN".
I think you could do a fun video on missed opportunities for teams players should have played for:

Šatan is slovak hero he was not so flushy as Bondra, Demitra, Palffy, Gaborik or Hossa, Chara but he wqs silent killer and have really great NHL carrier ended with SC ring and for national team he was absolutely great from start, Slovakia as new established country was strip of all medals with CZ end we were sent to C category. Satan was there from the start as 17-18 years old scorer with Peter Šťastný captain who came back to free country he had to leave to help us bring back to A category. Then šatan was also part of all 4 teams that get medal from Worlds and 4. Olympic place in Vencouver (legendary tournament for Slovakia) and now as president of slovak hockey he brought bronze medal from Olympics with ultra young team lead by 17 years old Slafkovsky. There is no person in Slovak Hockey like him.
He was devilishly good.

Going to get a little vulgar here, but I have a funny memory of this player. I remember playing a hockey video game back in the late 90s and my uncle was visiting at the time and one day I was playing the game and he passed thru the room I was playing the game in and heard the video game announcer say his name and he froze in his steps, looked at me, and said, “did he just say shit-pan?” And then we both started laughing our asses off
