Just letting you know that 11 years later, this is still a helpful thing. Just fixed my 98 Accent transmission, turned out it was just a broken roll pin.

Very nice video. The only thing i dont like is when different technitians use different terms for the same part. This video is no exception. A manual gearbox, or transmission, is "transaxle" in their language. Among many other parts.

What does the bolt that's next to the fill plug do.. not the drsin the fill... my brither removed the wrong bolt thinking it was the fill plug and now we cant get the bolt back in

any luck? i know this is 2 years late but i have an elantra same year, having the same issue finding a rebuild kit. can't even find a manufacture name for the transmission
Dan Withnell No, still no luck. It's still hanging in there as long as I don't rev my RPMs too high. My best solution to prevent any further damage was to put in a lightweight flywheel. It helps my RPMs drop much quicker, so I don't grind my gears anymore.

These are manual trans axles. They do not have torque converters, filters, or pans.
clearly this rebuild can be completed while the customer waits
Haha, don't forget they have to remove the gearbox from the car, and put it back in.

Highly doubt this kind of work is still performed nowadays as it require an experienced and knowledgeable technician to do it right.
nowadays it is just straight new transmission
in 3rd world countries they rebuild everything, sometimes even car batteries.
