I'm not sure the creators and co-producers of Deutschland series, a husband-and-wife team would ever consider this too seriously but a Deutschland prequel, set in the early 60's to late 70s with different actors playing younger versions of Martin's parents or his aunt, the former, embittered high-ranking Stasi operative. All these 3 characters are interesting in their own right, particularly Martin's father, I get the impression he was once or at least tried to be a halfway decent husband and father but his ambitions, job, and moral/ethical questions combined destroyed his marriage and permanently out of his son's life. Deutschland 86 did a great job in revealing his more human, wistful side at what his interests are when he's not working for one of the world's most repressive, invasive secret police states in human history. It would be a little like Fargo TV series except without any of the silliness, wistful, quirky humor but how Season 2 was sort of a prequel to Season One with a younger Minn. state trooper involved in a violent, extremely bloody shootout in South Dakota that it seriously traumatizes him even beyond what he experienced in Vietnam. Or Deutschland could jump forward maybe a decade to reveal the lingering political, socio-economic divides that defined post-reunification Germany in the 90s and still resonates to this day. Plus, there's a newer, more dangerous domestic foreign existential threat that's more insidious and harder to combat than spread of communism--the rise of Al Qaeda and radical Islamic terrorist groups and the new heightened geopolitical tense realities of a post 9/11 world.
@@davidroberts7282 What I least liked on season 3 was that there were no music references, like in previous two seasons, I've heard in my country most of the music performed in the series, Evelyn Thomas "High Energy" was a smash hit. I did the same face like Martin when he heard for the very first time the Walkman. I'd agree most with a sequel than the prequel. In general this series made me reflect about all things happened in Europe, I was just 17, not aware about all dangers, except Reagan.
Find ich auch! Eine vierte Staffel "Deutschland 92" hätte aber keinen Stoff mehr, geht ja um den kalten Krieg. Aber ich bin froh dass es überhaupt drei Staffeln und 26 Folgen gibt!🔥
@@darrenc2721 In my memory, this is the first such series about DDR, and such a high-quality one with an unexpected and very memorable plot, that's why we want this more
Just watching last season on More 4 in the UK . Great , love the music and would be great if another series was set in 60s and 70s as another guy mentioned here.
I may have been a 14-year-old kid in 1989, but I was avidly following events along the Berlin wall and in Central Europe. This story is so wonderful to me. Excited to see it released!
Things just didn't turn out as good as we all hoped in 1989 . Just think what the world could have been like if Russia took a different path and we all could have been on much friendly terms. Not just friend but allies.
@Anton Smirnov No Anton , a friend and ally of NATO, indeed a leader of NATO with the USA. I assume you are Russian, Russia will never be a slave to anyone.
I watched all of Deutschland 83, fantastic Zeitgeist. Now we skip forward 6 years to 1989 and Fall of the Wall? I was stationed in Mannheim from ‘85 - ‘90 so timeline aligns with my service and experience. Germany sacrificed and contributed so much. Now, where’s my Walkman?! 🤣
A great end for a great story. Kudos from Mexico! Peter Schilling rules!

@@davidroberts7282 Love the idea of a prequel but unfortunately I highly doubt that they'll ever do one...
Just started it late and I’m hooked. Goddamn, what a great series. Deutschland 83-89 has been so amazing.
I've loved all three seasons. Schweppenstette is my favourite character.
There’s something so charming and interesting about him, I realized his scenes are my favorite. Sylvester Groth is so amazing.
Comrade Hartmann is my favourite!!
Eine der besten Serien-Trilogien, die ich je gesehen habe! 🙌🏻 Könnte bis in die Gegenwart so weiter gehen....( Nur in einem anderen Land 🤔🤫)

Masterpiece didn’t want it to come to its inevitable ending 👍🏼🇬🇧
I know, never enjoyed a tv show quite so much as this one.

That Cliffhanger on Episode 8 though, hopefully they'll do Deutschland '92 in the future, this series still has a lot of mileage left in it 👍
But east Germany fell 91’ so not possible
@@bruhperson2126 Exactly! It could be about the aftermath of the fall of GDR and the Soviet Union or something! :o
@@repubblesmcglonky8990 Maybe with China and the us but unlikely because in its name it’s Deutschland not china town 92‘
@@bruhperson2126 Stasi still existed in 1992 just as undercover organization
Schon fertiggeschaut. Könnte noch ne Serie folgen...
Great song!
Major Tom - Peter Schilling. One of my favs for sure.
