After a fateful near miss, an assassin battles his employers - and himself - on an international hunt for retribution he insists isn't personal. - Zábava
David Fincher is the only director who can say "we'll fix it in post" and can _then actually do it_
But he doesn’t really do that. I mean he doesn’t "fix" things in post, he already knows what he’s gonna do in the post. It’s not like they let some error pan out during the shoot and fix that later in the post.
Please give this one a proper 4K blu ray release. The film deserves it.
With a 4 hour making of. I would pay a lot.
[INSERT FUTURAMA GIF] "Take my money!"
same thought this movie was overrated and far from anyone involved's best work but it deserves a steelbook release with dolby atmos and vision encoded tracks, the whole shebang to properly enjoy it
Hoping we get one; All Quiet on the Western Front got one
YES OMG YES
What stood out to me was the sound design. The punches sounded devestating and realistic.
It's awesome how the music and the sound design work together.
The Killer’s reactions to the punches played off the sound fx perfectly too! Like, you can feel they hurt and he’s dazed for a second, while a normal person would probably be knocked out or dead, but The Killer snaps back into his cold, stoic focus and stays in the fight. No ADHD there lol.
@@hellapr1me What does adhd have to do with this? Lmao
realistically the big guy would win, one or two big punches connecting would put fassbenders charachter down for good, its artistic licence.
@@thejoker543 "preparation, attention to details, redundancies, redundancies and redundancies"
Hands down the best fight scene of the year.
I'd say that with no hesitation, but people forget John Wick 4 came out this year too. At the very least, you can't say "hands-down"
@@romilrh John wick 4 had impressive choreography. This was a much more immersive, intense fight than any fight scene in JW4 and that’s coming from someone who idolized the films & Donnie yen.
@@NMFILMPRODUCTIONS If your criteria for "best" are just immersion and intensity, then yeah this scene easily takes it
This scene alone deserves an Oscar nod for Sound Design!
Yeah no
So weird it didn't get any nominations
It's only when you watch behind-the-scenes breakdowns of Fincher movies that you can truly appreciate just how smartly he uses visual effects. He's such a master of using them subtly that you never even notice most of them.
The Killer has the best use of Voice Over Narration I've ever seen.
Im grateful that we are seeing behind the scenes of Fincher’s film. Fincher’s films always had great BTS clips on the DVD’s. These things should be paired with the film as well.
everything they talked about was amazing, the choreography, the sound desgin, the lighting, just everything but what jumped out for me when I was sitting in the cinema was that the camera seems to shake just a litte to give to give the Brute even more power and weight. It's not a shaky cam, the Brute and the Killer are still but it seems like the rest of the frame is shaking, I loved that!
it felt a bit like a videogame to me with the lil camera jumps
@@roachy72 yeah a little maybe, I think taking inspiration from games or anime for example is great!
"The Killer" is one of my favorite David Fincher films of all time. It's beautifully done on all levels, in every aspect of the film's production.
First were the laptops in The Social Network and now it's the TVs. Fincher has no chill when it comes to the perfect shot😂
One of the best scenes in the movie !
The fact that they had to digitally remove the dog's tail because it was wagging too happily when it runs up to its owner who's supposed to be dead 😂😂😂
this is one of my favorite scenes of the year, i know the killer is a pretty underrated cult hit so far but its top 10 on my list this year for sure, sound design, cinematography, choreography, it ticks alot of boxes for me
What I loved was that the punches sound like real punches, making it less stylised and more brutal.
When you're not hearing that slap/pop of skin and bone against skin and bone, you're barely hearing anything at all and it takes you a second to realize the pain that is being inflicted.
Exactly. These guys, David Fincher and his sound designer Ren Klyce, introduced those horribly real-sounding punches in "Fight Club".
@@DarylVHornthey were that bad
The sound of this whole scene was really great, paired with the edit it gave a beautiful scene to watch
Give an Oscar to Diva already!
Would love a commentary track for the entire film
Fincher always does an amazing commentary. The best actually. I hate that I’ll probably never hear one for this, or Mank
It would be great for this one since it doesn’t have a ton of dialogue.
The particular track playing (the sunshine state) at the beginning and ending of this, Ive listened to on repeat to sleep to every night since Nov 10th.
Brilliant film. The digital blood effects are insane.
digital blood effects?
Fantastic film, one of the best of the year.
Please, give us something more about the OST, Trent and Atticus did an awesome job!
Clips like this makes me want to rewatch the movie. Now.
Yes! The other recent “behind the scenes” about the cinematography was great too. They had all of those cameras in that one window for the first scene.
Fantastic fight scene, love the sound of the punches
one of the best fight scenes out there!
To me it didn't sound like they removed any sounds from the fight scene at all, the punches should be muffled from landing on a human body, not the exaggerated thumps and thuds we get so often nowadays. The Killer is now to fistfights as Heat is to shootouts.
Damn that last line you said was pure GOLD. "the Killer is now to fistfights as HEAT is to shootouts"
excellent breakdown! now this is the kind of bts footage we want to see more of
One of the best fight scene and realistic cause of the way it was captured. Brillant scene.
We need this for the full movie!!
that fight scene caught me off guard! brutal, long, dirty and awesome👊🏾
Can’t say it’s my favorite scene in the movie; its sheer length, considering the brutality, seemed to strain credulity. But the editing and sound design throughout is sheer pleasure. I like having The Killer on in the background as ambience. Bravo!
wouldnt have guessed the cheese grater bit was improved by Michael but it was brilliant
I really needed to see this in the theater. Would love for Netflix to find a way to give this another wide weekend release before Awards season...
The sound design was insane.
The thuds every time they hit a wall or the floor were like car crashes.
I thought the sound design was reminiscent of that of The Batman's. Which is, to me, the highest compliment I could ever give!
One of my favorite parts of this movie was the sound design.
David Fincher please oversee the 4K of Alien³ I beg of you, I love that film, I love your work and I want to know what it would have looked like had you edited it yourself.
He hates that film. As a person who shot some shitty little films I get him. David Lynch would get him (his Dune). Yes. Alien3 is pretty good but Fincher don't really want to return to a project with bad script at beginning and bad experience.
@@MarrMartAnd yet Lynch has talked of restoring Dune in 2022, Fincher should restore Alien³ also.
It's better than half the films he's perfectly happy with, even as someone who loves his work just in general. It just deserves better.
@@ISimulacraaa Yeah it definitely is.
1. Gone Girl
2. Se7en
3. Alien³
4. Fight Club (You can rearrange the top four in pretty much any order nearly.)
5. Zodiac
6. The Social Network
7. Panic Room
8. Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
9. The Killer
10. Benjamin Button
11. Mank
12. The Game (I loathe this film)
I hope this becomes a franchise
Why did the first voice sound nothing like David Fincher?
Exactly my thought, was puzzled to be honest......
Yeah, and they strangely don’t cut to him at all during that first part.
I also had that exact thought. It sounded a bit like him but very strange
It sounds like they shifted the pitch of his voice, so confusing what the hell.
Sounded like Fincher filtered through that Adobe Podcast AI thing or something like that
Plz also give us some vfx behind the scene of this fight, because I'm also very interested in how they make shaky cam effect! From what I've read it was all shot on dolly or fixed camera, so I'm convinced there's a lot vfx to going to making it feels authentic?(parallaxes and such)
I wish I saw this movie in theatres. That was incredible
The slamming of the TV set I cannot interpret as anything but a metaphor.
Death of technology?
i love ther fact that they (maybe) used the camera shake style from the witness episode from LDR series produced by D.F.
I still believe Fincher is the Zodiac killer.
د😂😂
Brilliant scene, love the panicked nature of the fight .
best action scene of the year
simply the best active digital filmmaker today - heck, arguably the GOAT
Best 2023 movie I watched
The cheese grater had potential to expand the violence further, that would have been a shredded twist
I thought for sure when I was watching this in theaters that they used cg doubles at times for this fight! I was so excited to see the vfx breakdown that would show all the hidden vfx he always uses. But it was just pure stunt work?? Wow. 👏
The bodies sometimes look a little rubbery and the movements seem a bit too smooth at times... I feel like there must be some cg work going on here or is it something else?
@@jonahsanchez9371 Yeah there were a few times where the movement looked a little unnatural and sometimes the brute almost looked sped up the way he moved. Could just be the lighting or maybe there’s some editing trickery going on?
@@polypeptide Yea i figured it must be some mixture of CG and some modification to the frame rate either while filming or in post. the dark lighting definitely helps hide these slightly unnatural effects.
@@jonahsanchez9371 ithe editor said he remove asome frames for each movement to make it faster.
czcams.com/video/J4cdr_HFnuI/video.htmlsi=7nrBSXDSKh6mYdbu&t=646
There's some frame cutting, but I don't believe there's any ramping in here. All three gentlemen involved did a great job.
If there is an award for best action scene of 2023 this should win.
One of the best fight sequences of 2023.
Sala landing on the table leg is the most pain I've felt in a long while.
Weird. At the beginning of this video, it definitely does not sound like Fincher's voice.
It definitely is. :)
You sure? He really doesn't sound the same at 5:13 @@davemacomber1035
I’m positive. Chalk it up to the recording equipment.
@@davemacomber1035wow ok thanks
In All the movie. This is my only one ultimate favorite
PLEASE let there be a physical release of this!
Part 2. 3. 4. 5. 6 ... please. and many more
Fantastic breakdown, we had Kirk Baxter breakdown other scenes of the movie on our show, take a peek.
The TV moment was so good. I was sure it was some kind of CGI.
11 minutes for a Fincher bts is criminal
Please put out a full 'making of', just like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Pretty good movie EPIC scene
I appreciated the rawness and the use of the interior for how the fight evolved. Also the sound design BUT... at the end of the fight when the big floridian gorilla is saying the line "Is that the dominian republican?" with a total unspoiled clear voice - after that fight and getting his arsehole ripped apart - it almost landed comical.
While adrenaline kicking in, you can't feel pain, so he should sound normal.

THIS
The Killer whole shebang sounds typical and simple but how to elevate that and deliver it like no other is the real challange. This scene could be standard ambush thing but Fincher make it special n memorable.
A Blu ray version for us Fincher fans should exist 🙏
The big guy (Sala Baker) should play Bane in The Batman 2
Yes! His voice was underwhelming though…
@@polypeptide Well someone should do the voice for him while Sala do the physical acting.
This should be released on 4k because we all know the quality of Netflix streaming, I love the movie finally something good from Netflix
Loved this movie
Please make sequel or sequels
When dude got Gaddafi’d and the end of the sequence 🥴
Opening voice is not David Fincher. Get your shit together Netflix.
It 100% is Fincher, FWIW.
Came here to say the same thing. Not him
@@keepitrusty Sorry, but you're incorrect.
@@davemacomber1035 I'll take your word (great work by the way!)
The best part is if you know Sala and what a wonderfully sweet guy he is. Also…. One helluva golfer!!
Pls films like this ?
That is not David finchers voice 😭🙏🏻
We need The Killer series directed by Fincher, 10 episodes/chapters of 10 different cases.
I'm back to apologise after being sceptical of its trailer. This film was a tour de force of what makes Fincher good. And it's rocketed to the top league of my favourite hitman films. I want to see it in a cinema now.
Watching this on streaming i couldnt see shit. Definitely too dark, maybe it held up better in the theatre.
Hitchcockian in the best sense of the word.
Who needs physical media, three-hour in-depth making-ofs, and director commentaries when we get this...
I know…but I’ll take what I can’t get! I’m surprised they even released this.
I get why David Fincher like Netflix, they gave him over $100 million for his latest contract. But man, they suck 😂
Is this a joke?
Who needs physical media? This is a joke, right? Look how much content has been removed from HBO recently. You can't even watch Westworld on there anymore because they didn't want to keep paying residuals to talent. You don't own anything on a streaming platform, and some greedy executive can remove anything whenever they want. But a DVD/BR can never be taken back, and you can watch it whenever you want, forever.
The level of definition and color on physical media will never be beaten
best fight scene in a western film since i don't know when, winter soldier maybe?? Winter soldier has too many cuts and shaky cam tho
Best fight scene in recent memory. Last time i was impressed was from 300, they havent really innovated in a longtime
I wish mike tyson vs donnie yen fight could have these sound effects.
The running water thing is a cliche, I don't think anyone was surprised the bad wasn't there and jumped the killer. I was hoping it will be different, he's actually going to surprise the guy and this isn't the boss fight, but nope, same as always, walk towards the water, get a surprise attack form the side...
My biggest question is why this film didnt release in theatres ! Then ppl say hollywood is ruined !
It did ...just had a limited release.
Is this movie a good watch? I’m down for a simple movie bout a killer.
They sold the power of The Brute's hits really well - in fact a bit too well because when he connects with The Killer you expect him to take his head off and do massive damage. Instead in true MCU tradition he basically shrugs it off and carries on fighting thereby undercutting the reality of the scene.
I could hardly see it.
One of the best fight scenes in a movie ever. This and the stairwell fight in Atomic Blonde are the bars other movies need to aim for.
Something I feel like no one has yet addressed.. do the Brutes hands get bigger/expand when he throws his punches?? I feel like they do subtly and your eyes just barely catch it.. but it helped signify the weight of his punches. Did anyone else notice this??
Take your meds
@@AB-pg1mivery constructive lol anyone have any actual feedback?
@@galensjp01 Sala has giant hands. Like, really big hands. He's a big guy, but doctors have told him he has the hands of someone over seven feet tall.
@@davemacomber1035 oh wow, that checks out then! Probably what I was experiencing when watching
I'm genuinely surprised by these comments. Am I the only one who thought this whole scene was TERRIBLY lit? All this work done for an amazing fight scene and I couldn't see it!
you are the only one I think
You might want to adjust the settings on your screen. I can't speak for everyone but I saw everything perfectly fine.
BEST MOVIE PUNCH-UP IN YEARS! ! ! None of the throwing punches over heads (obviously terrible stunt acting) you get in John Wick type crap....
Ugh this fight scene dragged on and on like a Peter vs. The Chicken fight from Family Guy.
This is Fincher's least interesting film by far. I didn't think he would ever make a stinker, but here it is.
I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I could actually see what was on
Movie was completely underwhelming.
Bring Back Happy!, Maniac, Sense8, and White Lines. 😐😁🙂😁😁🙂🙂🙂🍴🎨
If only this movie had the usual Fincher quality to it. It's just a basic revenge story, told linear, and without any big surprises. A killer that kills people, well what a surprise ^^.
You're telling me the fight scene was not two cgi-characters beating each other? The lighting felt so unreal.
This fight sequence was great but this film was one of the weakest Fincher films ever...
The only good scene in the entire movie.
waste of money and energy and sure TIME
TRUST NO ONE even DAIVID FINCHER
