While both sets are about the same location, they serve vastly different purposes. The Duel on the Death Star is much more expansive and has more play functions but the Emperor’s throne room has better details and is better for a display. While I do love the design of the New set but I wish it was a bit larger like the Duel On Death Star, and came with the two royal guards. Though more stuff means a higher price and big lego sets Nowadays already cost more than a Kidney and Liver, I couldn't imagine the price of the set if it was upgraded.

One question, I know that you don’t rely on the price per piece for the value of a set but is there value to the price per mini figure count that you look at, let’s say 5.00 per mini figure? 2022 has that 35.00 4+ set that I refuse to buy because that build and price is ridiculous and I can’t see paying 10+ dollars just for mini figs.

I already expanded the width of the 75291 set by 4 studs and made the window larger and deeper. I had planned on trying to make a new window based on a moc, but the peices were not cheap or easy to find. The new set has a perfect window, and i will be trying to combine the new set into the centre platform of the old set and expanding the sides. So for me, a combined set is the only answer. Very happy with the new one! =o)

Cause if it’s the throne areas, you’re never going to be able to use the play set as an extension of the diorama. The section the diorama represents is just too big to go along side everything else the play set represents.

I also think Palpatine‘s arrest looks really bad because it should have more walls on one side like a section cut and have the other side open sort of like a dollhouse in my opinion…otherwise don’t include a doorway.

With figs like Palpatine, I just take off the cape to make it feel more acurate

I think the reason that the emperor doesn't have pupils is due to the style they've been going with lately. They've done the same with hara and Ashoka and minifigures with black eyes you can't tell if they do. I personally like it better this way. I think it ads to the charm of Lego but I can see why some people may not like it

I love lego is revisiting scenes for dioramas but where are the prequel ones?

I agree on the palpatine design, finished the newer set today. like they really didn’t have to remove the pupils it’s not even movie accurate. still looks cool, but it doesn’t feel the exact same.

I personally prefer the diorama so much more. I just wish it had more figureds, even ones that aren’t in the scene. Like, Han, Leia, R2, 3PO, I just wanted more figures. I love this set none the less, fantastic and is so much better than the 2020 one. A combination of the 2 would be absolutely amazing!

I bought the first one in 2015 and I really loved that set. I bought the newer one about a year ago after it retired. It was just $90 at Walmart. My plan was to combine both of them into a larger diorama.
Then rumors of this new one came out and I still haven’t opened the 2021 model. I got a job at LEGO so maybe I’ll save up $150 and buy 3 of these with the discount. Maybe I’ll sell the old one and use that to buy the new one?

My guess is LEGO reused a ROS Palpatine minifigure from an unreleased set. Makes sense they’d recycle minifigs and call it a day. I like the 2020 Palps but I’m also a classic Grey Palps minifig collector too. Not a fan of blank eyes Palps.

I really like these vids and I think the diorama looks way better than the playset but overpriced when compared to it . Also , when do you think the next Star destroyer will come out as I can’t afford the UCS or the 2014 playset

How about we get both and blend them. You could create something similar to the Indy Temple of the Golden Idol set.

  • @larsolav_larsolav9668

i prefer the design of the play set I find it to be more grand to have the walk way leading to the stairs up to the chair
