My theory still stands we got the "remaster" of Prime as it was in large part homework for Prime 4.
BOTW was shown for over a year+ before the switch was launched... if MP4 was meant to be a launch title, Nintendo would really need to hype this game up years in advance.. all we got was a logo.
Probably - they could cut it closer given the switch's popularity tho.

Will be really interesting to see how they treat the Franchise now. But one thing is assured,, Prime never fails with the critics. Even if its the lowest bar and just HD Metroidvania, the Story and premise (settings) are sure to win the Press over.

Why would there be only one launch title? Seems like a given this will launch with a new Mario Kart at the very least. At any rate, I have utmost faith in MP4 itself being good, and absolutely none in Nintendo knowing what to do with it.
Something else I could have spoken on is how there will likely be some solid third party support day 1. And Nintendo could also put some smaller things like Snipper Clips or Nintendo Land maybe.

@@RetroCheats of course, casuals generally have terrible taste and Metroid shouldn’t try to cater to them. This idea that Metroid needs to become some sort of giant system seller is only pushed by imbeciles who obsess over sales numbers.

Hate to say it, as a diehard metroid fan, but they're not doing that... Especially not at this point in the switch's life. My dream personally is a Prime 4 switch 2 edition at the switch 2 launch, but yeah, just a dream. @@AndresRestart

Thank you for finally being someone to discuss games stepping on each other's toes when discussing the launch titles (maybe this is obvious to everyone else?). As much as I want MP4 to be a launch title, it's really hard to imagine Nintendo letting it take that spot instead of a 3D Mario. It being a cross gen version is probably the best cause of that happening, especially given how long of a wait it's been as it will possibly be more polished by the launch date. That said, the launch window -- month 2 or 3 -- feels more realistic with it having a marketing push taking a backseat to Mario in the run up to the system launch to showcase hardware, and then really ramping up once that first month of Mario sales has elapsed. Then again, I don't trust Nintendo to do a good job marketing a series as low selling as Metroid well, so I should probably stop talking about what seems likely. In any case, we can at least dream.
Also, I appreciate that unlike a number of other MP4 related videos I've seen recently, you haven't switched to stalk footage from Other M... Dunno why people are doing that when it's... let's say the blacksheep of the series, and we have MP1 Remastered and Dread right there if Wii era graphics of MP2&3 are a bridge too far for people.
Nintendo would be making a HUGE mistake not to launch a new Mario kart as a launch title, it’s their biggest and best selling IP. A 3D Mario would also help drive consumers towards their next generation.
There can be multiple launch titles and me for one, believe MP4 is going to give us the feeling MP1 did when it was released. We are going to be blown away and I cannot wait for this game! I want to see this game on next gen hardware!
Hey Andres, I just want to point out that May is when Nintendo expects to receive all marketing materials for the game. This does not mean that Nintendo will market the game in May. The campaign is most likely to start in June, along with a general Direct, or a Metroid Direct. But don't expect it in May
One thing I don't think you touched upon is that Metroid is the most realistic IP nintendo owns. Using a realistic game like the Prime series would be a great visual show case of the switch 2 then 3D mario because Mario is more cartoon like.
I'd wait til June for the MP4 announcement. What if June originally was going to focus on switch2 titles.. but since it's delayed, it will now be a major focus on MP4 instead.
I just hope that we'll finally see a trailer in June. I don't think we're getting remasters of 2 and 3 at this point, and I'm only 50% convinced that MP4 will even release on the next console and not just on the switch.
Yeah, it's more likely that we get Prime 2 and 3 HD bundled together, as we saw happening with Pikmin 1 + 2. A shame, I wanted to see Prime 3 with the revamped graphics
I rather it be a launch window, then a launch title. If you want to sell consoles, it needs a big mario or Zelda game.
I'm hoping to see a release date and new trailer for Prime 4 at a Direct this June, since thats when Nintendo usually announces its big first party titles.

Also Metroid fans are mostly older with more money and probably highly willing to buy a new console to have the best experience. Many younger Switch customers may not be so quick to upgrade to an "updated" Switch.
a 3d mario game should be the launch title for switch 2 metroid games are not huge sellers they are niche games..
new 3d mario is a good assumption for the launch title - add Pokemon Legends ZA, new Mario Cart and maybe Prime 4 and some remake of Zelda and it's quite a good initial lineup

They can still sale it for switch this holiday and then still sale it for switch 2 because it backwards compatibility and if you have it already they can patch it for the switch 2 and better graphics. 😅😂

I doubt the switch 2 is still launching this holiday season Andres. I heard on CZcams that the switch 2 will be as powerful as a ps4 console in raw power 🔋. Probably the ps4 console power is for the handheld mode of the switch 2 Andres.

Maybe it's not the most selling franchises, but it has been more popular recent years. And if it's a release game and there is not much more to choose from people might buy it with the console to have something to play. So I believe it would be a smart move from Nintendo! But there was a long time we got a 3D Mario, so it will probably be a release game and then it might be though for MP4 to compete with.
It doesn’t sell as much because a mainline Metroid game comes out every once in a blue moon. There’s not as many games as Mario and Zelda so of course it’s not gonna sell as much. That’s my theory at least.

Nintendo literally promised it’s still coming to the Switch so no it won’t be a next gen exclusive, they would lose out sales from their promise to keep it on switch.

I looked and even asked Andres, Nintendo Prime and their chats if anyone could point me to a quote in writing or video where Nintendo explicitly says "we promise to release Metroid Prime 4 on the Nintendo Switch", and nobody could. The reason people keep saying that is because they are assuming announcing the game for the console is a tacit promise/contract by Nintendo to release it there. While it's true that generally once a title is announced it launches on the system it was announced for, there is no such obligation should they need to change plans for whatever reason. More than likely it will be a simultaneous release, though.

Yea agreed. If they miss this opportunity its not a stretch to say Metroid fans will have to wait _another_ 20 years for their 'Botw launch' moment. Feel for them but that really includes me too , I love the series no less than Zelda!

Variety should always, ALWAYS be the main focus of launch titles- and yes that even supersedes gameplay and quality. It's an unfortunate truth, but one that makes marketing sense. The original Playstation demonstrated this well: It had an excellent variety at launch, while its main competitors had a poor variety. Playstation 2 had arguably the greatest variety of any launch and look what happened with it. Xbox 360 had a good variety, and so did the Wii. They ended up doing quite well. I do believe the DS had a decent variety as far as a handheld goes, and it succeeded massively. The only major outlier to this was the Dreamcast, which had an impressive launch lineup, but ultimately was trounced by the other three, and many gamers waited for the PS2 instead.
I’d rather see all the following titles be as a launch for the Switch 2. MP4, Fire Emblem and maybe even a Super smash Deluxe over a New 3d Mario. Not hating on Mario most games are pretty fun to play but I haven’t played Mario odyssey since that came out like 7yrs ago 😅 point is I’d prefer those games.

DK , Smash, TOK, BOTW , Oddyssy, Yoshi are all getting upscale versions with NSO expansion pass on successor. Everyine will want expansion pass with Switch 2 cause all your digital games will get upscaling with it.

I think Nintendo is going to use Prime 4 for wider audience appeal, namely Xbox and PS players. Seeing impressive graphics on a Nintendo console probably is the push they need for buying one. That also would explain those multiplayer designer hires at Retro
