If you really wish to experience the dichotomistic nature of Iceland, a summer trip is a must. The landscape changes so drastically that even us, locals, sometimes have difficulties recognising places. I would recommend east and north-eastern parts by car, at a leisurely pace. Mývatn is a snatched moment from a fantastically whimsical fairy-tale.
Well done, packing quite a lot of adventure in three and a half days!
