Great video. You covered all those annoying little details that can turn a not so bad job into a true nightmare if not prepared.
I hope many people will catch the message of the One Who can fix what really matters. Blessings Brother.

Thank you for the great video, particularly your testimony at the end. Power of His love is the only thing that will save this world. A dogmatic statement I know. Having lived 80 years, I have found the only thing eternal are the principles He taught, the greatest of which was to love God with all our heart, mind and strength and the second to love our neighbors as ourselves. WE live in a very divided country but if we treat all people kindness and charity maybe we can have unity again. Thanks again for your video.

Very helpful video, was able to fix my convertible top. I would suggest buying the hydraulic cylinders from Hydro-E-Lectric instead of other options because I bought my cylinders cheaper at a-premium but there was a manufacturing error and the snap o ring wouldn’t fit the bolt dye latch it onto the vehicle.

Pooling of fluids on rear passenger underseat after refill and lines being bled.
This same problem on a friend's Seabring when I helped by refilling pump.
Never knew about piston cylinders. Answered my curiosity as to why fluid loss after doing the job. Another post recommend a turkey baster for inserting Mopar.
Yes I once used a screwdriver in the rubber plug and pierced through the nipple.
I used marine silicone glue to repair and seal it up. Man you need patience getting the plug back in. Moving slowly here as high humidy heat wave. I will order the piston cylinders as the seals are probably cause of pooling fluid. The cylinder information was priceless.👍

The instructions you showed stated to use Automatic Transmission Fluid in all hydraulic convertible tops. I saw that you used Mopar fluid, but what type is it? Thanks for the vid!

Thank You, the video was very concise and kept me from making mistakes. I did run into 1 major problem..... To remove the hydraulic cylinder piston from its upper mount you took a 13mm socket and unscrewed the bolt holding it to the car. I believe you got to this bolt through a hole in the bracket (that holds the piston). My 2004 Sebring Conv. does not have this hole. My friend and I can't see how they installed the piston to the bracket nor can we figure out how to get to the screw to remove it. Has anyone run into this problem?

Does the convertible top need to be manually opened to get to the top bolts on the piston cylinders?
It appears that's the only way to access them.

I realize it's been 2 yrs since you posted this video but I'm crossing my fingers that you'll still see comments. Thank you so much for the time & effort! I have saved this to my Sebring library unfortunately, my problem is the exact opposite. The top won't retract fully into the well. I have looked at every piece while replacing the old top & found nothing untoward. If you've come across ANY information regarding this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, thanks in advance for taking the time to read...

Does the pump motor sound like it is reving up hitting an air pocket in the system or does it seem more like the top frame is hitting something and the pump motor is trying to strain to force it down?

Sorry, the motor doesn't stop but doesn't sound strained. The passenger side sticks up approximately 14 - 20" Above the well.

I am not a pump expert but I would probably try first making sure the pump reservoir is full to make sure the pump is not hitting an air pocket in the hydraulics. Surely you could examine it to see if there is anything which could be hitting the convertible frame. I am not sure if a hydraulic cylinder the get jammed part way through the expansion or contraction but you could call the company I mentioned in the video. They were very helpful and could likely tell you if a hydraulic cylinder can get stuck part way.

If you are only replacing one side, do you need to disconnect both sides to bleed the line?

    • @creativerepairing2960
      @creativerepairing2960  Před 3 lety

You are probably comparing bleeding the convertible system to a brake bleeding. With the convertible system you don't disconnect the lines to bleed the system, it will bleed itself as you run it up and down, however the reservoir in the pump tank will have to be refilled. Some people pre fill the cylinder before they install it.
