This week, we’re back in the Wild Imaginary West with a riverboat captain who got off course and foolishly decided to wander into a river system near monster territory. The monster that happened to find him first was a massive anaconda.

I want that captain to be a reoccurring character who drinks his way into danger but through dumb luck, always survives for the next diorama!
There's a stop motion animation channel I watch (legoanimations6370) with a recurring character like that who add s a sort of "oh no, what's he do *this* time vibe to each video... but the Wild Imaginary West has such a great backstory and canon, I don't know if it's necessary!
Or a really good first mate who's always got his Captain's back.
Basically Captain Haddock from Tin Tin

I love how so many people like before they reach the 15 second mark that I can see it has “no views” but 47 likes. Shows how dedicated this community is.
That just goes to show how hi his quality is
I’m one of those people - there’s no reason not to. Boylei’s just so reliably lovely that I know I’m going to love (and rewatch) his videos before I’ve even really gotten into them
I always like his videos before watching it
I love how 1 hour after drop 11,000 views.
100th like on ur koment😎
I live in Thailand and the other day saw a 15 foot Reticulated Python swimming near a boat used to take tourists on short river trips. That was enough to really scare me, but your snake takes it to another level! I love this so much! Great build Boylei!
I’m watching this video at the airport coming home from Thailand!
Snakes are so cool
if you see the snake then that's a good thing means you aren't a target
(Not that ypu wpuld be anyways its incredibly rare for a snake to eat a human in fact its never been recorded in history there's just some rumors of it, at most they kill people later on not in the moment
@@artsyscrub3226there are some records of snakes eating humans just not live ones
I feel like one of the most underrated aspects of these videos is the sound design and lighting of the final product. The subtle crickets in the background and the one directional lighting simulating moonlight does a lot to set the tone and atmosphere for the diorama. It's just a beautiful detail that I feel like gets overlooked
I hope it's not overlooked. It's the best part of the video.. the slow zoom, the little music and lighting is key. It's tremendous care to detail and, you're right, does deserve recognition.
The wild imaginary west has to be one of the coolest and most creative fictional worlds I've ever seen! I can just imagine a open world adventure or strategy type settlement building game. Or even a novel or comic! Would be so cool to have an in-depth lore written about the WIW. Seeing Boylei's new vids always make my day 🤠
I'd play the hell out of a TTRPG set in the Wild Imaginary West.
I watch all his videos because as a dungeon master I love all his pieces and want to use them for game nights😅😅😅😅😅
I am currently coming up with a DnD campaign set in the Wild Imaginary West. It's gonna be awesome. 🤩
@@createdman9889 I hope to see a video about it.
imagine the main character coming from the steam area where electronics are banned. Would be a cool story how they learn to accept and use it to defend themselfs
I really like how you've started incorporating the electrical switches into the build to disguise them. It may be worth trying out different switch types depending on the disguise, where buttons or knobs would be easier to hide.
I very much agree, I love the hidden switches, it's so much better than an obvious switch sticking out of the base, background, etc. And yes, it's worth looking into different types of switch - there are some low profile push button switches for example which may be more suitable in some cases.
I love this series on the Wild Imaginary West and how you keep adding to the lore and world-building. As someone else suggested, turning this into a graphic novel would be awesome!
"i used whatever method this is" is such a mood. Great plastic+paint+clay+resin mixed media piece as usual!!
“After hiding the switch under a barrel, it was time to move on” does not do justice to the creativity of incorporating the switch in such a fun and intelligent way. Nor the effort in building the little barrel is such a way that the switch works perfectly. Your work is amazing because of little touches like this.
I don't know why but whenever I'm having a bad day, I watch these custom diorama builds. Sometimes on different channels. It always makes me feel better.
Looks amazing! It's great to hear a little more lore about the places that aren't covered in dangerous beasts all the time. It's interesting that we sometimes forget how "crunched" time is and how many famous and influential people who are responsible for today's technology and culture were jammed right up against a chunk of continent that was still "Wild and untamed" even in the real world. Great work!
I’d love to see this universe realized in some way
This would be such a cool dungeons and dragons world!
What a sunday treat of a video! Lovely work as always, Mr. Hobby Time! :)
Amen
Yeah I like his videos coming out on Sunday because I can watch them before church.
Would really like to see a playlist of all the music you use for your Wild Imaginary West dioramas!
I have only discovered this channel a month ago and I am hooked!! Everything that Boylei creates is amazing and inspiring! I especially love the Wild Imaginary West! I cannot wait to see more of those in the future!! I don't know how often Boylei reads the comments but I would love to see more imaginary wild west stuff, like a Texas longhorn minotaur creature in the midst of a cattle drive or something. Just an idea. Love this channel!!
Love your storytelling abilities through these dioramas.
I love how you build these dioramas, not only physically, but within the minds of your viewers with the stories you tell. Beautiful build, can't wait to see more.
Id be really interested to hear more about imaginary new orleans it still holds onto that old timey charm even in our modern day so id love to see how we adapted to giant monsters and mech wagons!
This is a great diorama that tells a simple, self-explanatory story that still takes the viewer a second or two to realize just what's going on. (I hope that snake doesn't get alcohol poisoning . . . .)
As a sidebar, I have seen this kit at my local hobby shop, but hesitated to get it, not sure what it was like. I'll definitely be adding this to my list, now!
500th like.
You really need to make this whole 'alternate world' you're making into an ACTUAL book series! I'd definitely read it!
Really cool build, love the hidden switch in the barrel!
How you are able to make this in a week amazes me. Awesome paintjob man!
I don't know which I love more, the soft glow through the windows or that wonderful duckweed painting technique. ❤❤❤ But I think the best part, aside from the builds themselves, is the stories you give the people.
Extra points for pronouncing Mobile correctly! It sounds silly, but it always grates on me when folk say Mobile as in "the car is mobile".
To quote Indiana Jones: Snakes, why is it always Snakes? Lol!
Awesome job!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazingly done. Wish I had the patience you had. Aboslutely love the backstory your creating.
the duckweed looks sooo cool in this, i cant get over how cool that technique u used is, love the video!
Outro song at the end is called 'Go on Blues' by Bo the Drifter. Awesome build as always. God I love this series.
THANK YOU. Was looking all over trying to find
That primered black ship was slick looking but the finished product is just gorgeous! 😍😍 AND IT LIGHTS UP?! Okay.. i love it. Newly subbed. Forget about it.
Plot twist: The anaconda is friendly and is just making sure the drunken captain doesn't fall overboard and drowns
This should be part of a PSA against “unwise beverage choices:” don’t drink and paddle boat, kids!
Man, you have been a huge part of our Sunday evenings for this whole year, and my family and I really appreciate your excellent crafting. From our home to yours: Merry Christmas!
People just appreciate his work he’s great and dedicated, but not every subject he completes is to everyone interest, they like because he’s good, and it’s appreciated.
A relaxing video after looking up the mishipeshu
The wild imaginary west would make a bad ass video game.
The outro track "Go On Blues" works so well with this video and it's such a jam.
AWESOME THEME AND JOB. THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!!!
A model that John Voight would be proud of!
The snake says "Sur-prise, sur-prise!" Another fantastic scene of life in the Wild Imaginary West.
a still diorama so powerful in its stillness it evokes for more after effect story-telling, I hope the captain survives the big snake....
Seems like the chief mate will get a surprise promotion.
one of the better ones in awhile i think
The Champion. The new number one in my book. Nice idea and story. Well done.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
IT'S BOYLEI HOBBY TIME
Awesome. Love the ending
I think this is my favorite so far!!
Great worldbuilding!
I swear they made a movie about this.
Lol the barrel switch cover was very clever
I just got this recommended and I am glad I got this recommended thank you.
Man every one in a while these videos pop up on my feed and it makes me really want to try building some dioramas with stories behind them
Dude that diorama is insane!!!
as another idea for the wild imaginary west you should kit-bash two mechs fighting each other! one could be a bandit mech and the other should be a prospecter/soldier mech!
the story would go something like: the banditos got word of a shipment of a new kind of Edison technology being transported by a group of parliamentarians and attacked it. or if you want to use prospectors it could go something like this: a group of banditos got word that a haul of valuable minerals is being transported by unsuspecting prospectors and not well armed are transporting them! so the banditos pounce but are met with a surprising amount of force! if you would like to please use my idea i think it would get you a lot of views and you could have a lot of fun with it!
Ironically as you said in the beginning, we are still in the steam age as steam primarily turns our electric turbines
Lovely bit of lore. That duck weed looks so great.
Wow, dark snake in dark water, but you pulled it off nicely. 👍
Oh, and I love the diorama too!
Absolutely love the Wild Imaginary West title card! New lore makes your already awesome videos even better ❤
A Mt St Helens diorama would be cool. Maybe with some kind of smoke monster coming out of the top .
That is absolutely an amazing work of art! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I was interested in the murky water. What a great masterpiece. Love it! Thank you for sharing these great techniques.❤🥰
I love this fantasy west series more than anything else you do. The creativity, ingenuity, and quality visual storytelling are so appealing. I will say with this one build, I feel like some weathering and grime on the windows would have lent a bit more to the aesthetic but otherwise it's absolutely perfect
That duckweed is the best!
I totally dig the steampunk / Firefly feel of your Old West!
Thank you for these.
The return of Stuart Semple's Black! A whole new version even! That's almost as exciting as the diorama itself! The paint job on the riverboat is incredible
"Unwise beverage desisions" 😂 I gonna use that from now on.. :D
I’d love to see a video in the future where you go a little more in-detail about the painting process, materials and techniques.
i got the creepy chills at the end scenic vid when i noticed the snake peering at the captain!!! !!!!!
incredible once again!!! i love the new title card and this diorama is easily one of my new favs.
That mesh material works really well
Beautiful scene and fitting interesting lore.
The Wild Imaginary West has become one of my favorite series that I keep up with on youtube! Always fun and engaging.
I absolutely love this build. Thank you for the wild imaginary west.
reminds me of the movie "blood orchid"
I've built that riverboat about four times over the years. In its current iteration I extended the hull for better flotation, added better bollards and cleats and a wooden deck. It still needs very calm water, but it doesn't sink the way previous iterations did! Chugs along very nicely.
Love the green anaconda!
I love atmosphere of this one. Great job 😊
Does anyone else watch this man till like 3:00 I’m the morning and then have a sudden urge to buy a model and then just go all out for it
this one is super sick, i definitely feel the eeriness of it
Just the coolest videos, I swear they get better and better.
Absolutely stunning!
I wish i had the talent to mechanically make this a tabletop universe. I've done plenty of story writing for DMing campaigns but this is a world i want to experience in table top version so badly. Keep on making amazing art and i love the story telling behind everything.
Every diorama is just amazing.
Amazing
I look at your every work with delight👏
I’m from Mobile so really cool you mentioned it haven’t lived there in years I miss it sometimes
I always love his resin creations. good stuff
Such good story telling in this one.
Incredibly inspiring and interesting!
Once again, this master has delivered greatness in the form of this piece of artwork.
Beautiful work, as always.
That was fantastic!!!
I 100% love your story line. Love the artwork also. You sir are AWESOME
I love the story behind each diorama it really adds to the finished article, another great model kudos.
Awesome.
I'd love a swamp monsters series 🤞👌
Outstanding build, video and presentation.
I love watching you mix and pour resin. And make monsters; have you considered doing one with like a 'traveling circus' of monsters dead or alive? I really want to see a jackalope in a cage for some reason.
this is wonderful
Masterful work Boylei! Love the water details and paint applications.
sensational paint job!
