Quik disclaimer: modding the PSP is easy, the Vita is a nightmare... With ribbon cables tossed in! Ergo Chuck is a BOSS for pulling this off! I refurbished a 1000 model because I can't stand scratches on my screen! So if any of you get the bright idea to try this watch several tutorials, and be prepared with nerves of steel!
U re absolutely correct..to change buttons on psp you just need to remove front place..whereas here u gotta unmount even pcb😃
And as I ve said I wouldn't really recommend it for the faint of heart ones😏
vita slim is so easy
@@lolcat vita slim has got same structure then phat. U still gotta remove both button pcbs and unplug alle the ribbon cables
@Alice Manson I'm trying to refurbish my Vita 1000 as welp, it's a bit scratched up and it's bugging the hell out of me. Do you have any specific tutorial that you followed? I'm looking to change the front screen(with the frame), the back touch screen, and the joysticks. Do you also happen to have links for these? I'm nervous the replacement screen won't be genuine OLED and I'll be stuck with a normal crappy LCD screen. If you could help me with any of this and make any suggestions, it'll be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looks like 3/4 of these links are dead now (everything but the joystick caps). I guess the sellers took down their listings.

I can replace the screen, triggers and analogues but i don't have the courage to completely dismantle the analogue sticks, iam waiting to break one to use it as an experimental part. Great video for showing people how to maintain and customize their favourite handheld!

Thank you for your video I've taken apart and rebuilt or cleaned PSPs, original xboxs, ps3,4, and a few gamecubes an i have to say the only thing that actual worries me here is doing the analog stick replacement i mean if it was the whole assembly it would be quick but it's expensive, I'm going to try to rebuild this beat up vita i got the sticks are eaten n destroyed so i bought replacements and am planning on doing it when they arrive

I've done exactly this! Unfortunately the white PS button for the 1000 is almost impossible to find. I managed to get all the other bits :-(
Nice one man this combination is awesome. And the buttons are pain. I ve ordered these ones but they haven't got any more when I checked next day
@@ZealousChuck Yeah, I think it's a great combination. I'm keeping my eyes open for a broken 1000 in white that I can steal the buttons off of. Or even a red/blue 1000!

I should have gotten white buttons as well for my 2000 I got the white joysticks so far because they needed to be replaced

DO NOT, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, follow this guide. He does not state how fragile the analog thumbsticks are and how expensive they are to replace. Both of mine were rendered useless and it set me back $35 for two replacements. Instead, use white silicone caps - They cost about $2, much safer and more useful.
