PARENTS of a toddler who was born with a unique facial nevus have been told she looks like a superhero. One-year-old Luna Fenner was born with a giant nevus covering most of her face, that runs the risk of turning cancerous. Luna’s mother, Carolina, had a normal pregnancy and birth and wasn’t aware of her daughter’s condition until she was born. Although they initially felt shock and concern for their daughter, Carolina and her husband, Thiago, soon realised Luna is just as special and beautiful as anyone else. But the couple, who are raising Luna in Florida, have become used to people staring at their daughter.

People who point, laugh and call a baby a monster are the real monsters.
Hummingbird 22 exactly I would have bitched at someone for calling a baby a monster. I’m actually not surprised that it was a judge mental church person.
She is a angel from God. And a blessing to all that have the honor to meet her.
Not all church-going people are monsters. I just want to clarify that I think this little girl is one of the biggest gifts from God. I also believe that God gives us little gifts like this girl so that it can humble each and every one of us that take life for granted.

I think is different. As a family we make fun of each other sometimes specially if bodyweight. But if it's something that can't be changed easily then we obviously don't mention it. (Bodyweight can be hard for some people to lose, not for us though)
Being overweight isn’t ugly and they should be ashamed for saying that to you! I’m overweight and it really is hard to lose weight. As people we all need to learn that every body shape and size is beautiful. Just because they are too blind to realize that doesn’t mean that other people think that way. They just need to open their eyes and find what is wrong with their mind because you aren’t the problem. :) 💜

I respect this mother for being honest about how she felt after birth. That’s a tough thing to admit but one i am sure a lot of people struggle with. I’m happy she has a supportive husband who helped her through that. Luna is a beautiful light and I will pray for your surgery to go perfectly!

True. It's probably a superficial culture and the mom is expecting the child to look normal afterwards yet her face will still be covered in scars. The birthmark is so beautiful and sacred it's kind of sad it's being removed.
@@rachelandersonbarrybortoli6120 well, the mother did mention that while it's not painful for the child now, over the years, that could change. She mentions it'll grow thicker, and become hairy. She also mentioned that the child has already had several cancerous growths removed.
She probably wants the kid to have a normal life. Children are cruel. I remember kids bullied relentlessly for things much less noticeable than Luna's birthmark.
I think it's awful to hear that the mother wouldn't see her daughter for like 3 days after the birth, but I don't blame them for having it removed.

I have personally seen more older people judge people than any other people in a church, and my father is a pastor so I’m speaking from experience. It was the elders on the committee that wouldn’t accept the things my father would, and voted him off the stand! The younger people accepted much more and were much more open minded to the different people that came along. But, I would never make the statement people younger than 50 are more anything- because it’s only based on one persons experience! So in general all I say is it’s based on the individual, and age plays absolutely no role in that. Some of the most judge mental people in my life are older than 50!!!!! And that’s a fact!

I was wondering if anyone has recommended St. Judes for Children. This hospital doesn't charge for the care of the baby including the parents. Either way she is an adorable baby. People just trippin...she's precious.

It was difficult for her at first. Newly delivered mom with a lot hormonal things and emotions going on. The important thing is that she loves her daughter and is a champion for her now.

Birthmarks are a cluster of blood cells that didn’t form like it should, like moles. If it evolves, it becomes malignant. It turns into a form of skin cancer.
Also, if anyone notices their moles developing or changing during adulthood, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor! ♥️

It’s not all that uncommon. I don’t know why. I’m a nurse m. I’m not in obstetrics but I have a couple nurse buddies who are in obstetrics. They both report that when babies are born with a visible birth defect (or in this case just a very large birthmark on her little face) it’s often the mothers who have a hard time coping and it’s actually the fathers who seem to almost effortlessly rally. We’ve talked about it frequently. Don’t have a clue why it happens like this so consistently. And they haven’t noticed this same phenomena when the defect is not visible. It’s curious.
Omg. I think I just got it. My idiot bf was teasing me saying it’s because women are really the ones who are shallow. Everyone says men are shallow but it’s not men at all. He was just teasing 🙄 he’s a dork. But it occurred to me, women know so very thoroughly what it’s like to always be judged on our appearance. Even the most beautiful women amongst us know what that feels like. So of course it’s the mother who freaks more than the dad. She’s probably extra in tune with the emotional pain this could potentially cause this baby as they grow in life. It’s possible the mother, not knowing how to appropriately deal with her fears, just shuts down. The father more than likely has no real clue how utterly cruel the world can be about appearances (or he knows but not by personal experience) so his fears aren’t as great. This might feel more manageable. Maybe?

Oh, my heart! What a sweet baby angel. I was born with a large nevus on one side of my face that I was fortunate enough to be able to have removed when I was 7 years old. Admittedly, the unkind comments of others - mainly other young children - stuck with me for a long time and I really struggled with self esteem issues for most of my life. But I am grateful because the experience taught me empathy and compassion, and it helped me to develop a sense of humor and personality. I am so happy to see that Luna is getting so much support not just from her parents but from so many strangers around the world. I pray that with this outpouring of love, she will grow up and love herself the way she is and see her difference as a gift, and that she will continue to touch lives through her beautiful spirit.

@A.J Marcantonio I agree with you. Instead of getting mad at that lady. Go up to her and explain to her what her daughter has and educate her. I bet after that, the lady will feel embarrassed for calling her a monster. Some people have no filter and have to be educated.

@@bookcreator The lady definitely should be embarrassed. I am sure if the Mother or Father approached the lady and explained to her (even though it is apparent). She would be embarrassed bc I am sure she did not say it to their face and the mother overheard her. If you approach her and call her out on it. Trust me the old lady would be humiliated. She probably said it not thinking they would hear it.
Children are so innocent, she doesn't even know what's going on in her life, she is living normally.

She is adorable and her birthmark looks like those cool drawing that Native American painted on their face, and I know that the black color have a very positive signification in their culture : it’s symbolizes life and happiness, it’s also a figure of strength ( they painted their face in black before going to war or for life celebration like the birth of a child). It’s think it’s very meaningful for the future of this cute baby, I hope she would be strong in life towards monsters who mocking her !

@@ilsehartmann1778 I disagree with u. It's important to treat it. It's not just about looking and appearance although it's important for her psychologically when she grow up. But also these type of things could develop with time and turn to cancer and it could get extended too.

Ok, everyone is praising the dad and I get it, he seems great! But the mom is an incredible human being, the best mom I've ever seen... I follow their Instagram and that mom is sacrificing everything, she's by her daughter's side all the time and deals with huge amounts of stress and still takes care of her in the most loving and caring way. The mom is the rock, she's a superstar to me!
