I grew up in Oregon and made frequent trips to Astoria to visit my grandparents. The second I saw this trailer I recognized the town. Beautiful place, and the location where “Goonies” and “Kindergarten Cop” were filmed.
Out of all the beaches in Oregon, which one do you recommend the most?

I live in Oregon! Astoria is such a unique city. That bridge is a feat of engineering. Seems like it goes on for ever. And where does it lead? Cape Disappointment! The Coastal Forests around Oregon are something else, too. So much moss and fog. You feel like you're in a dream.

truth. i felt proud of her watching this trailer, in the same way a father feels proud of his daughter watching her excel at something.

Sometimes i wonder if i cut myself off because i am afraid of opening up or because I genuinely like solitude, but ive never felt a real yearning for the former so im sticking with the latter reason. I do resonate with this chharacter though, if people did get to know me i know theyd find me awkward and depressing like my previous friends. Not that im depressed, i just have very little materialistic motivation which makes me appear deadbeat, maybe i am.

I'd see this. This kinda hits home b/c I've had a few people tell me I hide myself carefully. One elder in my new church said to me years ago, "we'd like to get to know you." I thought, how do YOU know that?" LOL
unrealistic and stupid movie. If a girl like that acts eccentric, distant or lonerish - believe you me they aren't as pretty as the star wars girl, because if they were, they'd already be taken. If they got a more unattractive girl to play the part , it might be halfway believable. Star wars gial dating a bald pudgy hispanic, even more unrealistic.
A few people (just like you) are too smart for the Simple Minds of most people that attend church. They're a lot of Simpletons that just want to be fed fantastical tales to entertain them and help them to think that they have great meaning in the world. And, they're simple-enough to trust in it and believe it.
I love this movie. Daisy Ridley is fantastic in it.

Oh God, I love the original short movie. That one stayed in my mind for weeks.
Looks like a nice little indie film definitely gonna see it.
It might restore my faith in Daisy. But I do feel bad that Astoria keeps having movie crews clutter the place up, and I do worry that glamorizing the Oregon coast is going to bring a bunch of outsiders that will make everything bad. Oregon's beauty is for Oregonians only. We are a jealous people.
The Omeleto short film this seems to be based on is quite good.

That bridge looks very, very familiar. Like I've driven across it and found that on the other side is a place I have no interest in being. A place where I felt trapped and all I wanted was to go back across the bridge to the place I belong.

I think it did a good job at capturing depression, social isolation, and the mundanity of office life. I’m sure it’s not the type of film most of her fans would expect, but it shows her range.

@@pv3705 same title, i already watched the remake and while i did like it, the short felt more powerful with it's ending. But it was still a good movie and I think Ridley is a great actress with range, and she did a lot to make you feel for her character.
They had me at the use of the iconic phrase "ooga booga".

You know, I think I will watch this, not just because it looks like it might be good, but also because Daisy Ridley seems nice and I'd like to see what she's like in something where she can actually apply her acting skills, unlike the Star Wars sequels, which felt like everyone was just performing multiplayer emotes.

Call me silly, but of all the places in the US, most of Oregon seems like one of the least depressing places to live. The nature's fantastic. (Bear in mind, I say this all as a European.)

The kind of person who's "thinking about dying" and not *death* - losing out in being 'in the moment' - makes 'em 'dramatic, deep thinkers...or, just depressed! The dark comedy is not apparent, here, interesting characters though!
