Love the polyline help! Excellent surveying and photogrammetry advice as always.

If a surveyor gives a client a survey he will assume that it is golden, and good for all purposes. So doing something that is quick and inexpensive, but well suited for the purpose at hand, can sometimes come back to bite that surveyor in the rear when it is later used for purposes that require greater precision. I'm not saying that employ these great technologies, but it does add the need to educate our clients and manage expectations.

Rami, another great video. You mention your client doesn’t need the accuracy in this example. If you did need the accuracy, could you use ground control for your drone survey to increase overall absolute accuracy and extract features more accurately? Or do you still always need to shoot points for the features. Thanks in advance !

I did use the ground control points in this example, when I said the client doesn’t need the high accuracy, I was referring to not needing to use a total station for this project. Drone data can have an error of about 0.1’ in the horizontal and 0.3’ in the vertical.

@@RamiTamimi Flying at 100'-125', we are only seeing about 0.1' on vertical where the aerial data and total station data come together. Can you explain why you say 0.3' on vertical and are we doing something different than you are? We always shoot areas where we know we are tying in and also some hard surface shots to use to check the aerial generally. To tighten things up, we'll incorporate our total station shots into the tin once the aerial data is brought into Carlson Civil/Survey. Anything under trees gets shot in too.

Hi Rami, Great video, what is the accuracy level of doing a survey like this?

Can you take a volume measurement of an excavation? Is there a way to generate a topographic map that you can extract volumes from? I love your videos! Hope you can help clarify this for me.

Skipping video shows that the software is not yet mature and needs improvement for linework.
