I’m watching this in 2024 and this is still one of the best feel good songs ever. This song belongs to Anna. Incredible talent!

I get the feeling that 70% of forest creatures are just celtic/folk/viking metal band members
As a northern finnish man I agree
in fact the forest rangers are hired only to rescue black/folk/celtic/viking metal bands that get lost in the middle of forests
@@FranciscoGaticaCanales LOL, i cant stop laugh cz ur joke 😂
Well these days you can't go to forest and not found a folk/Celtic metal band
Ajang Rohmana It's true. I went walking around in the woods just the other day; and, next thing I know, I’m playing the hurdy-gurdy and head banging. Which isn’t as easy at it might sound, I can tell you that much. Like trying to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time, so it is.
what have i stumbled upon here? electric guitar, drums, fiddle, bagpipes, banjo is this heaven?
yup this music is heaven!

thank you for your honest comment :)
No , this is Patrick
there is no fuckin banjo
- So it's a metal song? Any instruments besides guitars and drums?
- Yeah I was thinking violin...
- Uuuu, classy!
- And a flute, a harp, bagpipes, mandolin...
-...
- And we're gonna end with a children's choir. Oh and we need 3 different electric guitars, obviously.
This song sounds better with a triangle
but no cowbell
Definitely no cowbell!
Listen to me, Gene - I want you to really explore the space this time - but with an actual cow

That’s not a mandolin, that’s an Irish bouzouki.

Really?I have to hear the same song at least 10 times only to figure out the music organs that are playing
One of the most beautiful metal songs I ever heard.
CMDR_Anonyrock agree!!
I COULD mention songs on (at least) equal footing as this, but yea, it's quite the top tier (given a listen or 4 ) ..
Folk metal (in general) has something "unique" about it, it has a "soul" (so to speak) that often calls (and reaches) out to the listener like nothing else

Metal? Most of their songs, but this is closer to mainstream folk rock.
I saw them in a 9GAG post. 3 and a half years ago I moved from a crappy capital city to a mountain city. This song captures the essence of what I feel like up there, there is this timeless like presence of the ancients and everything that was and will be. And it makes sense, I looked it up and only ONE of the layers you might see on a side of a cliff takes millions of years to form. I am not very religious and I don't go to church, but if you want to speak with God, you go on the mountains. There you'll find your answers.
I don't think that Elevetie realized the amazing power they had with this song. It is still my favorite song they've ever done and it shows their true potential if they could get back together.
i only discovered eluveitie a few weeks back and listened to alot of the songs, it's really good discovery 👍 i like where people review the eluveitie songs, they seem really impressed, even the vocal coaches that review.
They are still together. I’m going to see them tomorrow.
i didn’t realise that chirgel and nicole were a couple, i noticed in alot of 2023 footage of eluveitie that chirgel is missing, it's like he took some time out on that tour.
@@gazster he was unable to do a lot of the US tour dates as he had some family thing happen. They posted about it on their FB page, but apparently they still managed to rock!
They split 😢
This song is a true masterpiece the way they put all the instruments together. Not one drowns out another. You can hear the guitar in the background while the other instruments overlap it. Masterfully done. And her voice is amazing. The runs she does in the second verse, truly add something special to the song. So well done. i wish the song was about 30 seconds or so longer too.
Chris Chrigel is a genius. It's too bad that she left with a few other members but the new lineup is great too in a different way
One year later I haven't seen such a brilliant and exact comment about this song like this one 💪 from Spain cheers 💪
Isn't this a matter of skillful mixing, more like?

Thank you for this beautiful metal song. My fiance John David Spearman, who has passed away. Loved this song, this meant so much to him. He had and still has respect towards his heritage ❤
Sorry for your loss
This video is refreshing to me all over again. This song always put John David in his happy place. Much respect and appreciation to Eluveitie. Passionate and talented musicians and vocalist.
John David understood them, that was one thing that made me happy.
this is one of the catchiest songs I have ever heard, this is one of my all-time favorites as well such a well-written and performed song.
Metal is probably the most complex and varied genre in all of music. You can make it go with anything and make it sound good. It doesn't have to be growling to be metal. Power metal, thrash, folk, death/black, industrial, progressive, and God knows how many others. Metal has more sub-genres than the music industry has main genres.
well said
+David Maglioli Is that so? I'm a lot into metal and I've always wondered if that is the only reason why I know so many subgenres of it and I'm just not aware of the variety of let's say hip hop, which I'm not knowledgeable about. So other genres are really more limited in variety as metal? That would be sad :(
+Deathly Phobia
Atheist rap and Nerdcore FTW!
+David Maglioli Ever heard of Jazz? It might not sound as different as the metal genres, but there are various styles too. I know that you can't compare Metal and Jazz, just wanted to say that.
You might want to look up a genre called "Classical Music"...
Good to see a band socially distancing themselves.

And doing it in 2014 is even more impressive!
"I play in a Metal Band!" "Cool, what instrument?" "The Harp, The Flute and the Hurdy Gurdy!"
This song absolutely blew my mind, I'm sad to have just found it but happy to hear it from now on
This song still gives me goosebumps. Her voice is just so freaking perfect.
Emperor Braphomet your right, it’s remind me of linkin park band 💞
"Where do you film your music video's?"
"The woods."
"Ok very strange, lets move on. What type of band is it?"
"A metal band."
"Typical. What do you play?"
"The Flute."
He's growling too
niiiiiiiiiez in heaven
Well, there are sub-genres of metal.
hahahaha also works with Harp!! And Bagpipes!! hahahaha
"And what's your name again?"
"Rob Scallon"
All these years later, and this is still the Platonic Ideal of a folk metal song.
As someone who shares the same first name, and have been a listener since 2016 (I knew of them earlier and regret not checking them out), I strongly agree
Fun fact for those are unaware: Eluveitie being a swiss band released this song, in adition to it's English version, in every native language spoken in Switzerland
(Which are 4 bloody languages: Rumansch, Swiss-German, French and Italian)
EITA PORRA KKKKKK WTF
That's really cool
Another fun fact for those unaware: People who think they're "pansexual" are actually bisexual because there are only two genders.
Why do so many care about the name of genres? If this is enjoyable then what does it matter what it's called? For all I care, this could be unicornpussykillcore metal and I'd still be listening to the song.
You said it!
If it was called that then i'd listen even if it sucked! :P
Unicornpussykillcore metal. I like the sound of that.

Ache to be different
Now we need a unicornpussykillcore metal band.
Being able to play all these instruments is impressive.
Being able to put them all together so perfectly. That’s talent
And write songs in a dead Celtic dialect
"In an interview, Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie said that some of their songs are written in a reconstructed form of Gaulish. The band asks scientists for help in writing songs in the language.[81]The name of the band comes from graffiti on a vessel from Mantua (c. 300 BC).[82] The inscription in Etruscan letters reads eluveitie, which has been interpreted as the Etruscan form of the Celtic (h)elvetios ("the Helvetian"),[83] presumably referring to a man of Helvetian descent living in Mantua."
"The Helvetii (Latin: Helvētiī [hɛɫˈweːti.iː]), anglicized as Helvetians, were a Celtic tribe or tribal confederation occupying most of the Swiss plateau at the time of their contact with the Roman Republicin the 1st century BC. According to Julius Caesar, the Helvetians were divided into four subgroups or pagi.Of these Caesar names only the Verbigeni and the Tigurini, while Posidonius mentions the Tigurini and the Tougeni (Τωυγενοί). They feature prominently in the Commentaries on the Gallic War, with their failed migration attempt to southwestern Gaul (58 BC) serving as a catalyst for Caesar's conquest of Gaul."
...as far as I know the Helvetii were fu*king brutalized by the Roman Empire like all the Celts, fu*k the Roman Empire! They're gone and the Celts are still here 😄

Lyrics :
Against the waves, with our swords in our hands
Against the sea, with our backs to the walls
Against distress, in the presence of our enemies
Against the storms, roaring at our faces
A cry rang out throughout the skies
A beckon, the flight of the cranes
The call of the mountains
The call of the Alps
The call home
The tune in our hearts
The song of the mountains
What's that stir, so blatant in our sallying hearts?
What's that urge, that lifted up our longing eyes?
What's that ring, echoing from the leaden skies?
What's that augur, resounding from the lyre's strings?
A cry rang on in the sibilant winds
A behest, the outcry of the cranes
The call of the mountains
The call of the Alps
The call home
The tune in our hearts
The song of the mountains
The voice in the wind, the saint in the sky
The call of the mountains

Anna Murphy You are one of my Queens of music. Beautiful melody
Anna Murphy Love it. You and all the women of metal over their have America beat.
Anna Murphy I have spoken the truth. They all are horrible over here.
Anna Murphy Now, now. They're not all bad. My country produces a golden band every once in a while. (Longer then I'd like). But even with that in mind, for a good band to arise from all the rap and mainstream gas that so many breathe in here. It's nothing short of a show of determination and strength in the metal that they want to show to everyone so that we can have more freedom in what we choose to listen to.
IgnisKing rap music promotes violence, rape, and drugs in of which my Queen here and all the rest like her are not screwed up like all the Americans are. Much better than the Americans and I will stand up for them all.

Yeah bro. Things are supposed to evolve with time. Seems it's the opposite with music.
@@muhammadabdullah3467 The song is from 2014, that's basically yesterday. And the band ist still active. What are you talking about?
@@marceld.7382 Bro it's pretty obvious that this type of music isn't mainstream anymore. Music like this doesn't get hundreds of millions of views just as the other hip hop and rap songs get these days. Therefore, artists aren't much interested in making such music. I do acknowledge that good songs with good vocals and melody are still being made but they're not as great in number as they used to be some time ago.

Spotify radio randomly introduced me to this song. Listening to this song for the 50th time today

This is Switzerland in a song. Forget about the stereotypical (though charming) yodelling, accordions, horns and cowbells for a minute and go back to the Swiss routes that to this day are still present. Stout independence, loyalty to your ancestral homeland and the longing to return to the Swiss alps. Funnily enough, the term 'nostalgia' was first coined by physicians in the 16th century when Swiss mercenaries became sick and depressed. It was concluded that years of campaigning abroad made them miss their mountaneous home and all the things that came with it - the meadows, snow on the peaks, decent cheese maybe. I'm also very drunk. Xx
Not Swiss myself but I know all too well 'the call of the mountains' (I'm part Austrian through the maternal lineage; part Ukrainian on that side too - don't ask) and whenever I get over there and visit the Alpine regions, I get that feeling that I am, well, home. There is nothing quite like gazing over the valleys on a clear day when all you can hear is the sound of the crickets in the long grass, the calls of the birds and the occasional cowbell - all I can say is that it enriches the soul and lifts the heart in ways that have to be experienced to be understood.
I'm swiss and i can absolutely agree, especially the last term ;-)
The Swiss are weird. No wonder they are neutral in everything lol
Lets just better say 90% of middle and north Europe.
I'm Swiss too, and I totally agree! Couldn't live abroad... ;)
"What do you do?"
"I'm in a heavy metal band"
"Oh cool, what instrument?"
"All"
Not heavy metal, this is folk metal
@@IzayoiMeiHigu oh ok i thought it was metal tbh
@@jackaboy1328 I'm pretty sure it is its just a different subgenre
@@jackaboy1328 not "heavy metal" doesn't mean not metal.
My college professor introduced me to this amazing group. He has amazing taste
The call of the mountain. I can feel his vibrations in the water, I can sense his presence in tue ground, see and smell his virtues.
The beautiful soloist Anna Maria Murphy is a talent and beauty and her voice and the appearance of a soloist all together so in harmony -
Why cant yall just let them be? Seriously, they are giving up thier time and money to do what they want to do. I dont see anything wrong with what they are doing and I see it. If you dont like what they are doing then thats fine. Just let them do thier job and what they love to do. Try to be more considerate of what you say cause its gonna come back to you 10 times fold. And if you dont like what I said then that's fine, I hope that you have a beautiful morning and a lovely evening.
What about my afternoon and night :(
Chris M I'm sorry I say too much when I'm mad or on a rant.
I listen to them almost since their first album. This year they are coming to my country, and i'll fucking be there. This is metal, you dumb fucks lml

90% os a park ranger's work is to rescue metal bands who get lost in the woods making video clips

*I'm a sea-guy, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying this epic song.*
I just listened this one week ago live in Toronto, such a beautiful song and the whole concert was amazing!
I love Anna and Fabienne. They are so beautiful and talented. I love this band, God bless them
its just excellent music, beautiful vocals plus instruments not typically found in metal.
its new to me, a stray form typical metal, its fresh new edge and mix. im liking this and operatic metal too. computers open up a window of "easy find" should have got one 25 years ago. hahaha
This was the 1st song i ever played when i bought my very1st computerI. I make sure to play it whenever i aquire any new electronic device. Its now become a tradition.
43m views and counting. Absolutely no surprise. Everybody has to return to this masterpiece several times a year.

This sounds like what a hobbit would listen to during his rebellious teenage phase.
"Get tf out of my tree stump MOM! And go bring me some mushrooms and a goblet of mead!"

THIS MUSIC TRANSPORTS ME TO THE HEART OF THE MOUNTAINS, SINGING WITH WOLFS AND FLIYING WITH RAVENS
I can say with absolute certainty that I'm never happier than when I'm out in the mountains with friends. Hiking, climbing, camping, doesn't matter. Just so long as it’s the mountains.
Same. I grew up in the mountains. I live in a city now, but a part of me still wants to return there on every possible occasion. Everyone always goes to the sea for vacation and I'm like - "Nah, mountains time!"
