I have literally no investment into Nascar but these mini documentaries go hard
Same lol. But for 30 minutes at a time I'm a fan
Welcome.
I enjoy the sport but I love highlight compilations and documentaries like this a bit more.
my motorsport fandom in nutshell lol
I watch some but I really only get excited about Indycars. It's the once series that really is all about strategy, teams and drivers, not money.
I be acting like a 30 year fan for these 30 minutes
Clints interview gave it away, you could tell from a mile away he was lying through his teeth 😂
It took a (Jamie) Little luck to find that out!
The 2008 Singapore Grand Prix of NASCAR
Poor Piquet
Yeah. Because in this, they knew what happened in a week. We don't know exactly what was said or anything in regards to Singapore 2008.
@@RacingAtHome If Piquet kept his mouth, no one would have even known about that 'fix'. It was the perfect fixing.

This is definitely one of the most thorough videos on SpinGate I’ve seen. Great work man!
Ryan Newman should of won that race, typical for us Newman fans huh?
I’m a Jeff Gordon fan and irks me that Brian France not only put him in to patronize him, but exposed one of the MANY major flaws with the Chase. Also, it showed how bad behavior like Spingate could destroy the integrity of racing
That idiot(Brian France)destroyed nascar with all the changes he made, especially the playoffs format.
Fuck Brian France! (And this is coming from a Gordon fan, my 2nd all-time favorite driver)
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT Ole Bill is spinning in his grave.
@@chipsdubbo4861 both Bill’s. Brian is a disgrace to not just nascar, but a disgrace to Motorsports in general
who is bill france
Dale Jr knew Clint spun on purpose! because Dale Jr did it before himself!!
im an F1 fan but this video gave me so much more perspective on the nuance in nascar and i felt perfectally at home with the terminology and strategy that was documented. whats left is a profoundly interesting documentary that goes from great to amazing 3/4ths the way through
Junior’s trying not to smirk like “yeah he did that shit on purpose.”
Not to mention, NAPA leaving MWR left them open to sponsor Chase Elliott in Xfinity and then Cup when he took over Gordon's car, and Elliott went on to win the championship in 2020
And Martin Truex Jr. with Furniture Row in 2017.
After Elliot had that questionable call at martinsville....
@@sahholsteins1 by questionable, you mean within the rules as they've been the whole time
@@Twinspinner you Chase Elliott fans God dam know if it was anyone else nascar would've given a penalty. ALSO were in rule book did it say "returning to the wall" cancels the penalty? Nascar just said that time and you know it
@@sahholsteins1 nobody else had ever tried it before then, so I guess we'll never know if they would've been penalized for it. But go ahead, continue to assume they let him off because he's a favorite.
By the way, I'm not denying he's a favorite, but he's gotten *plenty* of penalties thrown his way since he's been in Cup, they don't let him slide
Watch any other interviews. You can straight up tell this fool he’s lying.
He got caught off guard with those questions...He didn’t expect to be I asked that question or at least not that blunt and straightforward of a question. You can see in his eyes and hear it in his voice, and how he’s just rambling. That’s shameful. I wouldBet my life on that.
I agree but I wouldn’t bet my life on it. There is always a chance that there was a mechanical failure
@@puggus6547 nahh, that is not that kinda spin. He let his rear spin.
Far less believable than 2008 Singapore GP
I lost all my respect for Clint after watching this. And Jeff.
I wonder whose idea it was on the broadcast to review this, as ESPN stuck with the coverage very long after the race ended.
This is why MWR closed.
They never won another race after this. NAPA, the only sponsor that was a line full-season sponsor for all 36 races, left MWR and went to an up and coming Chase Elliott.
I’m loving your story videos, man!
Honestly, if NASCAR was smart, they would’ve ditched the chase because of the controversy and how messy it was and brought back the non-chase format. But because we had Brian France and NASCAR was the sharpest tool in the shed, nah....
The apple fell very far from the tree
What a documentary. Thanks.
there were so many red flags with the interview with clint bowyer
I remember right when dale jr said he didn’t spin out the 15 he looked like he spinning himself out i knew something was up
Excellent vid!
Another interesting consequence of this is the current chase/playoff format.
It’s probably no coincidence that the format they announced after the ‘13 season simplified how you get in (just win a race). All the drivers involved/affected in spingate would’ve already been locked in, and funny enough, Bowyer would’ve been the guy in the dangerous spot.
You deserve more views on this one!!
This is a very underrated video
Thank you Kyle Larson
@@orangesnipzy7488 Your Welcome Friend!
Brad Keselowski lost this race
You dropped this

This race could've gone down as one of the greatest in NASCAR history had Spingate never happened
Instead, this race will go down as one of those great races with an ugly ending, along with the 2015 Talladega playoff race
Yeah the perfect scenario would have been Kahne, Gordon and Newman in. Instead we got what happened that night.
0:14 Seeing Joey in that hat just makes me wheeze so hard lol
Man, when I saw Gordon get the 13th spot on Friday kinda blew my 13-year-old mind
This was a very well put together video. Nice work.
Everyone does this stuff until somebody gets caught and they all pounce on the suspect
I get that the clint radio and wrecked was pretty suspicious but there aren't any actually proof that he even wrecked on purpose
Then you'd be calling jr's eyes a liar lol.
@@randomepic6204 jr is overliked
Ehhh Yea I'd say but again, for him to inconveniently say bowyer was squirly was suspect either way
@@richiewells25 Telemetry would be enough to make the inference. This isn't a legal system, They don't have to have end-all-be-all conclusive proof of anything, because that would involve literally being inside of Clint Bowyer's head or hearing someone over the radio tell him to spin out on purpose.
That's just not the real world, and we can't let people get away with obvious bullshit just because others like to set the burden of proof to someone literally admitting to what they did.
Ryan Newman is such a talented driver. He's like "Fuck MWR, I won my first championship"
C
Read that as randy Newman
Ah, 2013, when a Driver could have no wins and be second in points and Not have people complain!
A few years in Trucks, Matt Crafton broke the system. He didn’t win a race and won the championship.
My only complaint with this video is that the volume is too low, and it kinda kills the momentum for me.
Solid 9/10.
The best video to cover this controversy, thank you for putting the time and effort into this, and going into all the important details, without going super overboard with the length of the video, just to make it long.
Ironically NASCAR's forgotten cheating scandal also involved the 15 car. I swear that car is cursed.
What they lack in track complexity they sure make up in points complexity. And the say F1 is confusing. That's easy compared to this mess.
This is put together superbly well. Great work man.
This video is absolutely amazing! Great job! Also if you ignore the spin gate, this is actually a pretty good race
Idk, I feel like dales crash was the biggest event in NASCAR in the last 20 years at the time this was upload. Bro, I still get emotional thinking about that day and how kenny Schrader must have felt walking up to his friends car.
absolutley underated
I think Logano was allowed in because the scheming to swap places with Penske and front row was pretty minor. Besides that, almost all of his benefit came as an ancillary boost from MWR shenanigans. I think it makes sense that NASCAR cut him a break
I definitely agree, it's not like the MWR shenanigans were meant to boost Logano to the chase. Logano just HAPPENED to benefit from the ripple effect of it.
If there was no chase this shit wouldn't happen
Epic music!!!
I was like 😱😱😱 before the documentary even started!
Awesome vid!!!!
Great video. You may want to change your screen name to something more memorable if you plan on doing more of these and I hope you do!
Great job on the video. Brought back some memories
It's kinda surreal to switch from cheerful victory music to the suspenseful scary music.
THE FNV MUSIC WTF I LOVE IT
Ty Norris just talked about his role in spingate on the Dale Jr Download.
Great video, my friend. This is the best explanation on the internet for what happened that night..
You are a good youtuber and I think you are under rated good work and keep trying
How in the world has this channel gone unnoticed??
Thank you! Great video
I absolutely love your content man! Hate to nitpick but with a little better editing this would seem professionally done (heard pages turning a few times). But either way, I've loved every video of yours I've seen and I can't wait to see more!
12:27 The most significant part of the race! Super exciting an unprecedented event occurred on the restart!
The water bottle!
Honestly the main thing that made this turn from a conspiracy into reality was Dale Jr's comments. When I saw this the first time I thought it looked off but that's it. But once Jr said that I knew something was wrong here and was hoping NASCAR would look into it and they did.
SPINGATE was the death sentence for MWR and Bowyer's aspirations to be champion. After that, the team did not win a race again and lost their two main sponsors NAPA and Aaron's and two years later had to close their doors.
The 56 team shut down after the season because of NAPA’s departure. NAPA at the time was the last full-season sponsor for a team. They moved over to a young Chase Elliott who was driving a Hendrick truck entry owned by Turner Scott Motorsports.
Subbed because of your amazing editing skills as well as narration…you should have so many more subs than you do.
This is a great video explaining the whole Spingate controversy. Subscribed for more of NASCAR
I saw this really happen , and i knew right away it was so obvious . Great mini doc man.
The biggest impact of Spingate that isn't talked about enough is the fact that it essentially created the modern elimination playoff system. Likely, the whole thing was made up as a way to disincentivize teams from pulling a Spingate-esque move by just locking drivers in when they won a race.

What Clint should of done was say he had a flat and slam the wall and that would be a caution and nobody would care
This chase format is terrible I cant believe many people would rather have this than what we have now. It is hella confusing, complicated, and not to mention khane was about to miss the playoffs even tho he had 2 wins that would have been a robbery!

10 years ago this happened
Bowyer is a terrible liar. He gave like 3 different reasons for why he spun out...none of them being "the rear broke loose when I got back into the gas". That's all he would have had to say, and it would be case closed. No way to prove him wrong. But he gives some incredibly nervous ramble about flat tires and a magical bump from Jr...who was several feet behind him... Oh, and also the code words being spoken to him over the radio. Hard to ramble your way out of that one.
Fallout and NASCAR ight I'm hooked
Some constructive criticism. As someone who knows nothing about Nascar the first 6min confused me more than anything, since I have no idea who the drivers are, I have no idea who the teams are, I have no idea what the chase is or what chase berths (?) are.
Those were all names, that surely will come up again, but I didn't see their car (or did I?), I didn't see their face and I didn't memorize any of the names of team or driver. Something like the current standings at that point, so I could follow you and read along the names of the drivers would've probably helped immensely.
Great video however the video seems a little quiet but great work!

Welp, that’s what happens when a racing series tries to be like a stick n ball sport, sadly
Obviously, there are other races that have valid arguments to this particular notion. But 'Spingate' has to be one of (if not the Most) Controversial Race in NASCAR history
