On previous versions, there was a cabsim built in the AMP module. You could select a cab or disable it completely. Some people were complaining about the sound quality of cabinet simulations. For me it was fine, there were some useful options. Zoom G1x Four has a separate cabsim module in its signal chain. Can be on or off, depending on your requirements.
As for MS-50G+, it would be great if guys at Zoom could include cabsim as a separate module into the list of effects. This would give users additional options.
I think that MS-50G+ preamps are using IR technology to adjust frequencies, that's why IRs are mentioned.

Thank You so much for the video, there are really few reviews of this pedal.

the IRs are Amp IRs not cabinets. This is what causes the confusion. I had the old one which I sold to buy this one. I bought it thinking it was an evolution of the previous model, but in many aspects this is an inferior product. Still like the tones I can get from it though.

Yeah I think a the confusion regarding what the IRs actually are soured some in this pedal. But the other sounds do make it worth having.

I just bought this pedal. Thanks for the info.

Chris! Quick question, what lav mic are you using here? Also hope your channel continues to grow this year - much respect for posting consistently as that’s something I’ve struggled with!

The brand on it says PowerDeWise. Got it from Amazon a few years ago for like $15 lol.
And thanks! Consistency was hard for me for sure. I think I posted 3 or 4 videos during my first 6 months. I really had to force myself to do it. But I’m glad I did. It’s definitely my most favorite part of the week!

They haven’t released the IR pedal to go with the line. It’s the black one. I was disappointed that the 50G+ didn’t come with IR cabs. I use a modeling distortion pedal before it. So far, I’m impressed with the fuzz. Hopefully they’ll come out with some better reverbs like the CDR.

From what I’ve heard the reverbs in the new CDR are really nice. I’m really wanting to check one out.

I'm assuming once the IR pedal comes out, it'll be a matter of time before the new one gets the same treatment as the older brother. For now, I'm buying the old one just for the option for more DSP/effects to my Stomp for recording and making mammoth cdr combos for live

@@diontes1480 I got the Mooer Cab x2 It sounds great. I also got the R7 x2 because I like to work in stereo. I’m very fond of my wet dry wet setup. Keep rocking!

With price of Zoom G2 Four now down to $160, the difference vs MS50G+ is $30. Now, IF the preamps & effects in G2 Four are the same as in MS50G+ - I do not know if it is the case, but IF it is - then for $30 more you get 3 extra footswitches, expression pedal input , and - tada! - ability to switch cabsim on/off. Sure, it must be some shitty cabsim, but still.

    • @BMinusDemos
      @BMinusDemos  Před 4 měsíci

I don’t know much about the G2. It may be a really good option. Just seems like if it does in fact have all of the same effects/preamps + IRs they’re definitely cannibalizing their own line. Which could definitely be the case.

@@BMinusDemos I have a G2 Four. It's a nice device in terms of sound. However, for some reason, they decided to stick to traditional interface while other companies have color screens, touch-controlled devices, custom IR loading etc. G2 Four sounds fine but some people could feel it is lacking 'essential' features. Personally, I do not think that these features are essential for guys who just want a simple plug-and-play solution. I would love if G2 Four had an ability to change cabs assigned to particular amps though.

@GuitarWorkshop sometimes simple really is what you want. Less time “tone chasing” more time playing.

You also get a looper and pretty decent drums with the g2 four, although you can't turn the cab sim off on either units. Each amp model is matched to it's own multi layered ir. Between the 50g+, the g2 four, or even stuff like the ampero mini and the boss Katana go we're spoiled with very decent options at very reasonable prices.

@@waltergrace565 "although you can't turn the cab sim off on either units" - upon start, g2 four asks whether your output would go to amp or line. I *assume* if you select "line", it turns cabsim off globally. You can't change cabsims per amp, as they are coupled, that is true.
