  • Often when people learn to play blues, they focus on the chords, the lyrics, the solos, etc., but to me the most important and hardest aspect to teach in this music is the feel. Blues is a feeling. This feeling has many different shades and nuances. There is no one strum or degree of swing, there are many and they tend to be regional and by era. Let's dive into this subject further and see if we can't get a better blues feel in our playing!

Here are some recorded examples. This is the best way to learn blues, by osmosis. Listen, soak it up and then try to recreate the feel yourself. Play along and put yourself in the band. It is a feeling, right?
