Ya know what I've noticed about we the viewing and recommending community? Our FAVORITE thing to do, it seems, is when giving recommendations for any reactor and/or any performer/band/group etc. is to set them up. We give suggestions that we KNOW damn good and well will snatch all the wigs, rock all the faces, shake all the souls... all of it and we give them NO references or info to prepare or brace themselves. Not a hint, nor a clue. Then we all sit here trying to hide the giggles and smiles as we wait for that song/performance to get them. We are some sadistic mofos... but we're good at it!

Jesus with the good hair is the high tenor & his name is Austin Brown. He started his own channel during Covid, with some phenomenal stuff.

I always get a kick out of reactions to this song. I can't remember what reactor it was, but it was the 1st time I'd heard this song by Home Free. His comment cracked me up. He said something along the lines of... Hey where'd a group of 5 white boys get this kind of soul!?! It had me rolling! Home Free is a very special group of men! They cover music for everyone, not just a1 trick pony! Within the space of 2 songs they can make you cry from laughter and from sadness. They also don't shy away from social issues! Try Everybody Walkin this Land, One Voice, People, and What We Need is Love. All great message songs! Great reaction!

Loved your reaction and I subscribed. Home Free is the real deal. When they won the Sing Off in 2013 Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I think they wanted to do right by him. Rob (with glasses) was great in the lead. Austin (Jesus) is the high tenor and you should hear him sing When A Man Loves a Woman. Tim (the bass) has a 5 octave range. So he can sing in the depths but also sing tenor. Chance (in the back) is the baritone/bass. Adam (beatboxer) is amazing. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own stuff. Try Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Blue Ain’t Your Color to hear more great harmonies. And they don’t mind being silly and goofy too. Lots of fun.

During a fansign event after their concert in October 2019, I told Rob just how impressed I was with this cover and how much I absolutely loved it - not only did he seem somewhat surprised, he said HE WASN’T SURE ABOUT RELEASING IT. Holy moly, could you imagine this not being out there??? Also, if you haven’t yet and you get the opportunity, do not pass up the chance to see these guys live. I can still feel Tim’s bass rumble in my soul. Austin Brown is your "Jesus" guy, a tenor with a 3 octave range--the video that turned me on (majorly!) Was Austin's rendition of Unchained Melody which veered off into Home Free and I haven't stopped watching their stuff since. You'll want to check out Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys, Your Man, In The Blood, Man of Constant Sorrow**I recommend this one first because it is a super introduction of all five of them. I encourage you to wait for Mayday until you are a bit more familiar with the group. Love your reactions--that's the way I feel about them--totally excited. For fun check out a skit Guilty Pleasures (the best one of these is titled 20140308 Guilty Pleasures. Another hilarious video is Colder Memory lapse what were they thinking). Everything they do has been great.

If you haven't listened to it yet, I think you would appreciate Disturbed's version of Paul Simon's classic, Sounds of Silence (I like the video more than the live performance on Conan). Normally Disturbed is a metal band, but this has a very different feel. If you want to hear more intermittent growls, check out Pisces by Jinjer.
Other a cappella groups to consider are VoicePlay and Pentatonix. Pentatonix won Sing-Off the year before Home Free did. They are all crazy skilled and arranged similarly (high tenor/alto, lead tenor, baritone, basso profundo, vocal instrumentalist), but they each have their own sound. VoicePlay is currently down a couple of members but that should change soon.
