I have an antique traeger and the pellets are stored in the under the lid next to the firebox and keep the pellets dry. I up graded the controller to one like you showed but decided against the thermometers. Steel plate above the burner. Not sheet metal. BUT no self starter

I was in the same boat as you. never heard of them. Extremely impressed.
Check out the Cuisinart smokers. I like the looks of the Cuisinart Clermont pellet smoker & grill. They have alot more features then the over priced triagers.

Haha Basically EVERY pellet grill these days is a Traeger knockoff.. Not a copy but essentially a knockoff if you think about the history..
Traeger is the Original Gangster with the original patent and Chinese manufacturers etc..
So most grill parts these days interchange with the old Traeger parts, like Augers, Auger motors, Fans, burn pots, igniters etc..
That’s not a bad thing, in fact I think that’s a good thing..
Now Traeger is going 12Volt DC in their newer models, so that’s an interesting approach that some others are following as well (GMG) with pulsating blower and variable speed augers etc.. Neat stuff..
But I love the new ZGrills, check out the Multitaskers, 11002B and the 7052B, they are in my opinion even better than this model that you’re showing..
I’ve owned this ZGrills and I’ve owned 2 Traegers, 2 Pit Boss’s, and a Coleman, total of 6 pellet smokers total for me so far, and the two that I kept is the old Traeger (old old model), and the Coleman. Only thing that would make me want to upgrade is the new ZGrills Multitasker Series! 💜💜
