My autistic ears cannot stand most music (even the country pop that gets played this year) because it hurts my ears. I've stopped listening to most music for at least two years or more - it was just overwhelming. My ears like this music. I can understand the words, and I can stand it! Very soothing to my anxious soul. Am so glad I stumbled across the Hobbit theme song you covered :-)
I know exactly what you mean. I mostly listen to classical singers (you should give it a try) so I have pretty high standards, but I could listen to this guy all day long.

I'd never seen this one, somehow! 8 years ago now, but the same dorky, fun, talented person I've come to love listening to and watching over the past couple of years
I was genuinely excited when I saw this cover because support from people who have platforms are very important. That excitement quickly turned to dread when the lyrics that make this song so powerful to so many people were cut out. A song that made others and myself feel accepted and in ways became an anthem for those that society says are lesser. Saying that the song just needed to be made shorter just sounds like a hollow excuse to make people not comment about their exclusion. Especially since this channel has released songs that are over six minutes long.
Even IF this was simply cut for time more thought should have been put into doing so. This is a song for the oppressed and for someone who doesn't deal with it to take away what makes the song a statement and so important to so many people is truly callous. I truly hope that despite Peter's talent and wonderful voice he either doesn't touch a song like this again or if he does, it is shown much more care and respect.
This song was made as one of his early songs, so he may have cut it back because he was just starting out. I think he did a great job, and the message of the song still got out there. I don't see what's wrong with it; it was awesome. Besides, it's about the fun of singing and performing for people to enjoy. Maybe he just cut the song to make it easier.

Yes, but this straight guy left out a very important part of the lyrics. This song is so powerful because of its lyrics and to gloss over them as if they had no importance speaks volumes. Granted this video was made over 5 1/2 years ago now, so if he ever revisited this song one could hope he would be much more inclusive and restore the original power of this song.

Hazar Büyükakpınar Except people have rightly pointed out that he gave no reason for cutting it to 3 minutes, and even many of his earlier music videos have performances that last longer than 3 minutes. So most people don't see that explanation as being really an explanation at all.
Well obviously he doesn't edit his videos abd this is one of he's first videos maybe the guy who edited this video was his frinend and wanted it to be under 3 mins. to edit easier and idk cause maybe it was free?
I'm looking at a bunch of other Peter Hollens videos in the Up Next bar... "4:31", "5:12", "6:01". So why did this particular video "have to be" cut to three minutes? I love Peter Hollens as a singer but this is making me think he's a coward in one of two ways - either he agrees with the message of the lines he cut, but cut them so he wouldn't offend anyone, or he doesn't agree with those lines, but didn't admit that honestly and instead made up something about the length of the video, again because he was afraid of offending people. I love his voice but I can't respect someone who is afraid to say what they believe because they want to please everyone. I really hope there's another option that I haven't thought of. Can anyone please tell me a legit reason why this video "had to be" 3 minutes when so many others are twice that long?
+CrownedWithLaurels Later in the videos he started adding his thanks at the end of the video, promoting the people who helped him create the video, promoting his patreon page, his loudr and itunes options to buy the song and so on, which usually adds up to at least another minute. I don't know this song very well, so I'm not sure about the message he cut out or something, but what I described is at least partially the reason for the longer later videos.

I'm straight but this is a subject people shouldn't be afraid to talk about since it's so incredibly important.
