As a Australian I can tell you with certainty that vegemite goes best on toast, melted butter on one piece and a spread of mite on the other piece.
Add cheese and avocado if your feeling fancy, love that Danhausen.
Usually just use butter/margarine on the same slice. That's what I despise about every American that tries Vegemite. They either pile it on, or eat it without butter meaning it completely over powers it.
...It also goes well with cheese.

Oh, Mate, no, just NO! You never, never just go strait Vegimite! That can kill ya! You need to load up with butter first, lots of butter and probably better on toast than just bread and then you want just the thinnest spread of vegemite possible, you want to see bread through it still especially for beginners, you need to build up a tolerance to this stuff over time and even then no one in ever gets to strait vegemite.
So what's the point then? Not a hostile question, but isn't that akin to wanting to paint a door white, but with black primer and the thinnest coat of white paint possible?
@@shizackel Well put it this way, you might be better using paint than vegimite if you're going to have it strait. But yeah, it needs butter to dilute it a bit and the fat content of the butter improves the extremely salty taste of the vegemite. Also vegemite has the property of being able to be spread super thin so you can really get a thin translucent layer of the stuff and that's how its best to have it if you haven't built up your tolerance, See in Australia kids get exposed to it from birth (it might even be transferred in utero from the mother) so they build up a kind of immunity.

You need to have Vegemite on toast with heaps of butter and a little bit of vegetate dabbed all over... try it again that way and you might actually like it :)
sorry to Backseathausen, but Vegemite is best consumed on toast with plenty of butter, maybe half the Vegemite you guys used and optionally, a slice of cheese with it. Goes great with some Eggs for Breakfasthausen.

Also Tim tams are best used as a straw for hot chocolate or milk. Take a small bite out of a corner then another small bite opposite the first bite, then use as a straw.
