1. Place your M&M's or colored hard candies into a white dish, try to choose different colors.
2. Carefully pour hot water or milk into the middle of dish, if the M&M's move, just push them back into place quickly.
3. Watch what happens..
What’s.Happening?
M&M's are coated in food colouring (titanium dioxide, red 40 lake, yellow 5 lake, yellow 6 lake,
blue 2 lake, blue 1, blue 1 lake, yellow 5, yellow 6, red 40). When you pour hot water or milk over
the M&M's the coloured coating dissolves spreading through the water or milk.
The colour dissolve into the water to form a rainbow or color ring.
