And for all the people whining that it isn't a REAL Kukri, yeah, it's better. Real Kukri's have several flat edges which cannot cut nearly as well as the constant curve provided by this blade.
It's made in Japan, not China.
Someone mentioned chipping-that's user error. VG-10 WILL chip out if you aren't careful and make contact with rocks and other things not meant to be cut.

This isn't san mai, despite you inappropriate trademarking of the term. San mai blades are hand forged from three layers of steel, the center layer being a harder steel than the outer layers. In a real san mai blade (which cold steel doesn't make), the blade is etched, showing the different layers, the center layer is clearly darker from the higher carbon content. It takes skill and effort to produce.
What it isn't: Three layers of stainless welded by machine, mass produced.
San mai is a nearly half a millennia old Japanese knifemaking term. It really disappoints me that you've highjacked the term in the states, and that you send pissy letters to people who *actually* make san mai blades, telling them to stop using the term.
You should be the ones to stop using it, as you don't actually make real san mai blades. I will not be purchasing any more of your knives until you stop being trademark trolls.

By that I mean LEAF SPRING BLADES ARE NOT TOUGH. It's about the steel, if you salvage a leaf spring and make a blade you have one of two things: either your blade will be "fairly" tough but it won't hold an edge and it will rust out. Or you'll have a weak knife that holds a mediocre edge. Either way , you're looking at a blade that won't excel at anything. If it's your only choice, then fine, but if leaf spring blades were so great, you'd see the top knife makers building via that method.

The San Mai Kukri for $370 is A LOT of knife for that price. I have Sebenzas, Umnumzaans, Striders, Emersons, Falkniven, etc,etc that are much more expensive ($400 - $1600) for a lot less physical knife. I have Gransfor Bruks axes that are less material and the same price or more, and not nearly as versatile.

Wow, Heat tempered, amazing... you mean kind of like EVERY blade? All knives are heat treated, the quality come in how well the heat-treat is applied.
And being made from a leaf spring isn't something to be proud of, that means you have pretty much the cheapest/lowest quality steel possible. This is a laminated blade, it's the same method and design used for Katanas. I have many laminated blades from Falkniven as well as this CS; for this type of work a laminated blade is king.

I personally know someone who has your cold steel version Khukuri knife which was bought i thin near 400's vs a traditional one imported from Nepal itself. There are pros which Cold steel offers for the price in comparison of most knives and such and the fact its easy to maintain and sharpen it is worth the price, HOWEVER, its really fucking expensive!!! I can get one back home, top notch within 200 range, perform better in terms of camping(and i have personally tried it myself) and that on itself is more useful vs coldsteel. Also, whenever I cut wet woods, the knife tends to be stuck vs the traditional khukuri, where i can easily let go from it,even from tasks such as splitting, and if i dont carry around a mallot, the cold steel is rendered useless. I will admit, combat wise this knife is superior, but for general usage, a 200 dollar one is worth your buck. Sharpening the traditional is much more time consuming, very exhausting to use due to its weight for most part, whereas this one is very easy, at most it bends, and even that is fixable. So given this thought, you guys should determine if Cold steel is what you want over the traditional knives being offered.
