Within Temptation is my favorite symphonic metal band. They have variety in their songs and they evolve their sound with each album. Sharon is a goddess.. one of the best vocalists out there. You can’t go wrong with any song you pick for them. I would suggest Shed My Skin .. it hits good. Or Suoernova is another great choice. For some good rockier style songs that hooks you… there is Faster and Shot In the Dark. Anyway they have a big catalog full of great songs and their live shows are amazing. So there is a lot of content out there if you choose to deep dive this group.
WTF. I never really listened to Within Temptation because I'm not a fan of Symphonic Metal. I always assumed they play more of a classical symphonic metal music, but this song is something else! The production, the modern, kinda djenty riffs. Everything is insane. Wow
Check out their latest album, “Resist”, and their latest singles, “Shed My Skin” and “The Purgue”. You’ll be surprised. It’s been a while since they dropped the overly saturated symphonic thing… They’re now something closer to contemporary urban-pop-groovy-downtuned-metalcore(ish)… Pure quality
First album Enter isn't symphonic and they dropped it with The Unforgiving album in 2011. Still keeping some symphonic but going their own style from that point on. So you might try some songs from that era.
They have so many awesome songs and a lot could be considered different genres. I love never knowing if they going to be Mother Earth or Resist or any in between!!!

Yeah that’s what Within Temptation are about. So good that your introduction was to this song, so that you already see there’s no comparison… They are maybe the least pretentious band in such genre (which they’re put in), even though their sound ends up to be that big… because what they do is always about something they feel, something they urge to tell. Their efforts don’t come from trying to be this or that, but sharing something and welcoming us to join them, totally unpretentiously. That’s why we feel so much truth in Sharon’s singing. And their latest singles and album proved that they can go anywhere. It’s been over a decade since they dropped the symphonic thing, maybe foreseeing how saturated and overly corny it would get. They manage to always sound fresh, with rich and powerful productions, now more into this contemporary downtuned melodic groovy bombastic metalcore(ish) style…

You should check out Within Temptation's concept album called, The Unforgiving. I think it's their best work to date. Every song is awesome.

You picked an amazing time to discover Within Temptation! This song is truly a masterpiece and one of their best to date, imo as a fan for over 13 years. Within Temptation was one of the pioneers of the symphonic metal genre along with Nightwish. Both formed in 1996 and had a huge influence on groups that came later like Epica! But of all of them, WT has always remained the most versatile. Calling them just symphonic metal leaves out SO much of what they do, because they’re always changing and evolving and looking for the next challenge. Most humble band I know-they always just want to create music that reflects who and where they are now, regardless of popularity and fan preferences. And clearly, they have the talent to do it. No matter what they try it’s ALWAYS fantastic.
This song actually takes them back to a lot of symphonic elements present in their earlier stuff, which is why it’s so amazing for old fans to hear! The audio clips, the aesthetic and religious allusions, and Sharon’s angelic high vocals are all trademarks from their epic symphonic album The Heart of Everything, but they combined it SO perfectly with the more modern industrial sound that defined their last album, Resist.
You have SUCH a journey ahead of you with this band. As you can imagine from how long they’ve been around, their discography is pretty extensive. But here’s a couple song recs to get you started:

sharon ten adel, the vocalist is a self thought singer. you should definitely listen to more older and new stuff. like angels, the howling, faster, entertain you, the reckoning, and whe run ft xibit and somewhere ft anneke van giersbergen for example.. if you listen to these you wil now how versatile her voice is.

Their best recent song from them IMO. They don't have a bad song regardless, but you really have to experience a live show by them.
The Black Symphony is amazing, featuring a live orchestra. "The Howling", "Stand my Ground" and "The Promise" are great from that show!

Great reaction to a great song of this fantastic band. I would recommend to listen to their live performances and hear Sharon blast. They are not necessarily put into one genre. Their concert Black Symphony and Elements can't be overlooked. You need some live action from them.. Any one of the 22 tracks on there 2008 One off concert with full orchestra and choir will do.... Concert is called "Black Symphony"
If you want to really listen to her sweet angelic is sweet angelic Emotional styled voice, Maybe I would suggest the Swan Song", "Forgiven" or the duet, "Somewhere".
If you want a wall of sound and power and energy, with with everything going for it, I would suggest you start with either "The Howling,, Our Solemn Hour or Jillian; but, if you listen to Jillian, which is the 1st track, also include the introduction for the ambience, to set you up.
If I could time travel I would definitely select that show so I could live it in person, going back in time.

Yes I'm amazing band but with a unique sound quite different than the nightwishes and epica as in Lacuna Coil... Strong since there inception in the late 1990s

Just a hint or a suggestion for yourself if it really is your 1st time hearing such songs... When you pause please backup a second or 2 or to the beginning of the section section that you just interrupted because you may regain the flow which just kept broken , which is so important.. That repetition also helps disrupt the AI algorithm recognition. Thanks for doing it on the bridge though.
