  • XFINITY MOBILE 5G SPEED TESTS: I conducted a series of Xfinity Mobile speed tests to check the download speeds using Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband network. Download speeds topped 3,000 Mbps (3 Gbps) in one test, according to the Speedtest app. In this video, I share several other speed tests and my overall thoughts on 5G right now. Excellent video! the only thing that scares me about Xfinity mobile is how they have treated me as a cable and internet customer over the past 10 years. They have proven they cannot be trusted.

    I haven't tried the 5G Xfinity Mobile as yet because we have a pretty good family deal with Verizon. We've regretted it every time we've changed to a different provider. Our phones are currently all 4G. Will they run 5G or do we need to upgrade to a new 5G phone?

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves  Před 3 lety +1

      You can't get 5G without a phone that supports it. So for Apple the new iPhone 12 is the first that works with 5G. If you have a good family deal, I'm happy for you. Most people on Verizon postpaid are paying too much. As I mentioned I don't think you need to upgrade for 5G right away. Verizon has a LONG way to go to build out the network.

      @@Banagal oh cool well if you’re happy with your internet don’t switch to Xfinity Mobile. That’s their whole thing. They keep you as an internet customer and give you a break on the phone plan. 5G is coming to Visible in early 2021, BTW.

    I noticed that when you were getting “UW” speeds your phone wasn’t showing the icon that Verizon customers get. Other than the speed test, I’m assuming there’s no way to know you’re connect to UW band correct?

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves  Před 3 lety +1

    @Felice_Enellen Před 10 měsíci +1

    Pretty sketchy that they basically set up their plans so that you can run speedtest and be amazed and only realize later that you can't do much more than run speedtest before you're at like 10% of the bandwidth you thought you were getting for the remaining 29 days of the month. No thanks.

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves  Před 3 lety

      Hey there! I went over the high-speed data limit (20 GB) doing all of these speed tests, so that is why it went to LTE (I'm assuming) from the exact same spot. My phone was set to automatically connect to 5G where available.

    • @nb7340
      @nb7340 Před 3 lety +1

      yeah it’s just odd to me that xfinity had the ability to force the phone off 5G and onto the LTE network. I use xfinity mobile now and when hitting 20gb I’m still on 5G they just slow the bandwidth down.

    The reason why u didn't get the same results back in the same place is because with Verizon and att they started with mmwave. Since mmwave can only be access right now close to the tower and can't be access if something is blocking the signal and if u are in a house. what tmobile did was start from the bottom and working its way up to mmwave That's why tmobile has the speeds it does and that's the reason tmobile 5g works in doors and out

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves  Před 3 lety

      You are correct about the way the carriers are handling 5G differently, but I still don’t think the speeds should have been different in the same outdoor location. The only variables that changed: one hour passed and I used 30GB data doing speed tests in between.

  • @eddiemorrison8519
    @eddiemorrison8519 Před 3 lety

    If u outside u will get those speeds. But inside Verizon 5g is nonexistent. Also the reason why u got a different result the second time u back to that spot is because u wasn't behind a tree at first. Since Verizon and att 5g can't Penetrate though objects their 5g changes
