The people who were really close to Freddie, Peter Freestone, His PA, Peter Hince, AKA Ratty, his roadie, David Wiig, Journalist and good, friend, and most of all, Roger, Brian, and John, all spoke that Jim and Freddie were together and they ALL felt it was a very good thing! Freddie was known to be difficult at times, in his own words, and also was fiercely protective of Jim! Jim was with him for SEVEN years and was also there for him in those last sad months of his life! Please stop the awful attack on Jim and just be happy that they found each other and shared a very loving relationship....In Freddie's interview with David Wiig, he spoke that he had finally found solace and could not be happier.........please be happy for them, everyone deserves true love and happiness.......

Yes he was. When he was really sick and bedridden, every time he saw Jim, Jim wasn’t allowed to leave Freddie’s room without telling him he loved him. I don’t understand why this is still being questioned.

Just FYI: Generally, information is questioned when the source of said information is questionable. Example: I never believe anything Donald Trump says.

I think Freddie was so emotional at times,so up and down one minute he loved him the next he didn’t!!!! What made him a great musician, didn’t make him a great partner, but I always wonder if he settled for him because he knew he was already sick!! Regardless I thank Jim for the years he spent with him!!!❤️❤️‍🩹❤️❤️❤️

I think so, yes. In the 2021 book by Jones, she quotes Jim Hutton extensively, from 1998. Hutton said that if Freddie had recovered medically, he, Hutton, would have been sent on his way. The relationship was, I think, largely one sided, and Hutton's book: "Mercury and Me", as he says himself in those 1998 interviews, was his image of what he wished it had been like, but wasn't. It's rather sad, because Hutton was well aware that his love for Freddie was not returned. Of course he didn't have to stay.

Just like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop…The world will never know about the real relationship Hutton and Freddie had together. Hutton has said he loved him, but he also has said everything about their relationship was a lie. The people who know the true story are most likely going to take it to their grave. I think he’d be confused as to why this is still a debated subject 30+ years later, but I guess the books that have been written, the contradicting stories that have been told keeps the truth flame burning to know the real story. Freddie’s spoken words tell me everything he wants me and the rest of the world to know. There are different types of love, physical, emotional, spiritual, and a love that transcends all of those. Freddie had that very special love with one person and he spoke often about them. That’s enough for me.

Few people know the truth about this relationship, in any case, Jim remained in Garden Lodge taking care of Freddie until the end

Would he really have chosen have returned to his attic rooms to sit his own rent, food, utilities, entertainment?
After all, he did say on that FIRST trip to Munich that doors had been opened to a whole new life.

Research has come along away. Jim didn't seem to understand the psychology of an illness and grief, and the impact an illness has on the patient and his family, an friends. Today, they all would have had more psychological support to help them cope. They provided amazing care. Quality nursing/ palliative end of life care. Kudos to Freddie's caretakers. And Kudos to all caretakers out there.

Freddie DEFINITELY loved Jim, his interview proved this, he promised Mary the house when she supported him in the early days, he was justified in writing his book, for therapy reasons given how cruel Mary treated him after Freddie's passing, Jim was a saint and Mary's actions were unimaginable, I thank god that Freddie found love comfort and peace towards the end in Jim*🌹🍀☘️🌳🌿😽**

A saint???????? You have got to be kidding! Freddie knew exactly what Jim was and that is why compared to what he left Mary, he left Jim crumbs. The “saint” to Freddie’s yellow jacket and sold it within weeks of Freddie’s passing. He wrote a “tell all” book about Freddie that later on he admitted was all lies! A saint? Not even close!

The best info directly from Jim Hutton is seen in Jones' book of 2021. She spent many many hours with Hutton in Ireland, in 1998. There Hutton goes into a lot of detail, saying that his book" Mercury and Me" was a fantasy, his idealized version of how he had wanted his relationship to be with Freddie, but which it was not. He admits he loved Freddie, as his "one and only", but knew well that Freddie did not feel the same. He stayed because he loved Freddie, and of course by the time Freddie was getting very ill, Freddie would have been glad for all the help he could get. There were several people around Freddie to help in those last awful months. It was Dave Clark who was with Freddie at the exact moment of death, not Jim, though several of them were around. Jim said that Freddie would have sent Jim away, had he survived the illness. I think these 1998 words of Hutton change the whole picture of their relationship. I think there had been a time, early on when they first met, when there was that closeness, but it seems to have soon faded on Freddie's side. Barbara Valentin also said quite a bit about it, and she was correct. Freddie was lucky to have a number of people caring for him in the end. We would all wish for the same in our own lives and ends. The only real love of Freddie was Mary, I think, in terms of lasting and life-long and unwavering. Jones' book of 2021 I think is far too harsh vs. Freddie (whom she calls a "simpering wimp off stage") and also vs. Mary --- but it is clear the reason: she befriended Jim Hutton, and thus expressed and felt his "pain" and sadness over the actual nature of Freddie's relating to Jim, and expressed it as rather explosive anger here and there in her book.

At the end Jim stays with Freddie , because it was convenient for himself. In the last years you do not see any photo with Freddie. He stay because Freddie pay him as a gardener and pay for Jim treatment. Was a win win, Freddie gets company and someone to take care of the garden, and Jim was receiving a salary and the treatment because Freddie pays for it . Jim received money for the book about then that he wrote, and he was very angry about Freddie giving the house to Mary Austin. Jim later confessed that he lie a lot about Freddie and admit that he was very abusive towards Freddie. Weeks after Freddie passed Jim stole the famous Freddie’s Yellow Jacket and sold it. Freddie left Jim money and a house near Jim”s family. That book was a betrayal knowing how Freddie was with his private life.
