- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

It's not just an ethnocultural designation but also a linguistic one.
Not sure what you're trying to argue about. You seem to be conflating the word "Arabian" to mean "Saudi Arabian." That is incorrect and anachronistic. "Saudi Arabia" named after the "Al-Saud" meaning "Saud Family" is a nation-state established in the 18th century and became developed in the 20th century.
Nonetheless, it doesn't matter. As these instruments travel to different regions and climates and adapt to the cultures of their regions, in Spain it becomes a Flamenco guitar, in Russia it takes on it's own style, and so on and so forth.
This beauty is a shared human project and expression.
@@snakejuce By Arabian I obviously meant the geographic term referring to the Arabian peninsula. Here in Egypt when we say Arab we refer to ppl from that region or bedouins in our country. Grouping us all into one term is unironically racist and orientalist and perpetuates stereotypes and mis-information about the region. When referring to culture form Egypt, its Egyptian culture; from Palestine; Palestinian, very simple way to acknowledge the diversity of people even Arabic speaking ones. This specific instrument has its roots outside of Arabia, so no reason to call it Arabian.

The Oud is so expressive and contemplative, it can evoke moods that few instruments can reach, that is it's power.
Oud actually has this ability as you describe. However, it is also quite difficult to master....
