I'm a hungarian, living about 50km-s from Csokvaomány, near Miskolc. I am happy that You chose Hungary! We welcome dutch people here! Please beware of You and Your house's safety from a very few people who have no good intentions to foreigners! But the very-very vast majority of hungarians are friendly and show respect to foreigners. I wish You to have a nice years or decades here! ❤

...and what is interesting, that this part of Hungary is maybe the least developed part of the country - there are much more advanced places to live here, near Budapest or at West Hungary, but this place has the real charm of the untouched and original nature! It gives a feeling of finding the old times' lifestyle what we have nearly forgotten. So I don't wonder that You liked and chose it!

A modest, but peaceful and quiet life in close contact with nature, in harmony with neighbours (and some of their dogs 😉😃), among beautiful flowers and trees, overlooking wonderful hill landscapes - this is as close to Heaven as it gets on this Earth. 🙂
Yes Nynke, this charming place is an ideal retreat for you to make your creativity flourish and film, write, paint and draw. A wonderful asylum from the hustle and bustle of big cities and the crazy pace of life there.
Once again congratulations to your dad for finding and buying this treasure of a house. I wish you both a wonderful week together.

Looks like your dad chose that area to have some quality time, to get some rest, to ride his bike, and enjoy the nature. Awesome! If he ever get bored with that area, perhaps he could consider a place in the Beskid Mountains. He would have much closer to Krakow.

And you know that these yellow flowers are very healthy? In polish they're called "mniszek lekarski", lekarski=medical. Each part of this plant has medical purposes, especially the root which you can dig out in autumn and dry 🙂But you can also eat the raw stem (it's a little bitter, yet this bitterness is very crucial for your liver). From the leaves you can make a delicious salad, and from the flowers you can make honey 😘Sorry, I'm just interested in herbal medicine 😅

I am so proud when foreigners decide to move and live in my tiny country.
I have German, Italian, and Slovakian ancestors, so I think I have zero Hungarian blood in me lol, yet I feel closer to this nation than the others (also, there were many migrations from the neighbor countries during Hungary's history, so I think finding real Hungarians must be very rare).
I am just afraid that Western European people bring their Westy mindset here and won't respect the conservative Hungarian way of living/thinking.
I hope your dad will be happy here!

This makes me so happy to read!!! My dad fell in love with Hungary and the little village he bought his house. And when I came there for the first time we felt the authentic way of living of pure Hungary. That's why my dad chose this part of the country. And he also chose this house because it's authentic. He is definitely someone who will not bring the western ways to Hungary. I can't wait to go there again. Such a beautiful country! 🥰

15:20 Hello Nynke! 😁 Egészségére (na zdrowie)...that's all I know in Hungarian haha. Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages in the world, especially for English speakers. I think your dad made a very good choice...I also prefer small villages where everything from buying groceries to drinking coffee is often done slower and more thoughtful than in a bustling metropolis. 😉🤗🍀 3:40 ...this is a well / to jest studnia 😉😊

Dandelions are considered weeds, but they are a blessing to us and the nature. Dandelions are the first flowers that the bees can feed on. They are also very healthy. They are edible. One can make a salad from the greens (sautee them first to remove the bitterness). The flowers are edible and so are the roots. The roots, once roasted can be used to make a coffee substitute that will remove toxins from the body and heal the liver. People also make vine from dandelion flowers.

Why are more and more people moving from the Netherlands? By legislation. The influx of people with completely different values and norms also plays a major role, a taboo that should not be discussed. There are horribly enough large cities in the Netherlands where the original inhabitants are a minority in their own country
