Ah, the glory days-when a cell phone could be tossed from a balcony, hit a hardwood floor, and be perfectly functional after attaching the one piece that broke off.
how is it that paula poundstone makes one not just admire her fantastic intellect and diamond wit, but also somehow against every odd, makes you feel so safe in the world, restores your hope in humanity and inspires faith that this ridiculous earth experiment might actually be worth it after all…a rare and fine human being
I absolutely love Paula Poundstone. She's one of my favorite comediennes of all time. I love it when Paula wears a suit and tie when she does her stand-up comedy specials. 10 points for realness, Paula. _Hermosa._
I also love that she has never changed her style! Even in her earliest available work from the 90's, she wears pants or jeans and always has a vest and tie, or a suit and tie, or a suit and bowtie, etc. 👍
Watching this show and the topics that she covers let’s me know we’ve been discussing the same topics for a long time. The fact that most of it still applies to today let’s me know that not much has changed…

Phenomenally talented at improv, Ms Poundstone has identified a key characteristic of the brilliant Harvard students. They are not necessarily grounded in the real world. My father had a Masters from Harvard in physics & applied mathematics. He had limited common sense & had difficulty relating to average IQ people.
This same year, '96, my college classmate had one while the rest of us had pagers. We were all on-call midwifery students. We definitely still called it her car phone, not cell 🤣
Watching a VHS tape. I can remember people going on and on about Beta versus VHS... God I'm old. But Paula Poundstone: I am still shocked and amazed at how she can do real-time comedy with audience members. How is that even possible? Wow, just wow.

Good God, I would love to hear from the woman she called on the phone. I'd pay good money to hear from one of the chicks in the audience, or even the roommate who was called on the busted cell phone that was launched at Paula. I simply can not fathom the idea that a famous comedian called me because my roommate mentioned me at the show and said comedian decided to ask someone to cold call me to check in!!

Watching this for the first time in 2023. How hilarious she is off the cuff with the audience. The prison furniture engineer. I'm dying😂😂🤣
She is one of the brilliant minds of our time.
Most definitely! One of my very favorite comedians of all time!!! 💕
I don’t know of another comic who can improvise that well. Really brilliant.
It’s really quite remarkable.

I think that, sociologically, things do not change. Technology changes, but the way we interact with each other doesn't, at least not much.
Nothing's changed, we just have different actors.

seriously, my favourite crowd worker of all time. paula is SO laser focussed and unrelenting in her pursuit of great crowd work gags.
Nebraska Furniture wouldn't hire me because I was handicapped and would have to show people around the showroom floor in a motorized wheelchair
She was making that point... person in wheelchair only for the ad... not in real life. Very sad. 😢
And the bit about lack of female representation... she calls it as it is! In another show she picks up on a male chauvinistic guy... well done...
who put the blind guy with the good hearing in the front? lol
what's with the poor picture quality? It ruins it for the rest of us/
