Right. Aaliyah never got hers until after she passed. People acted like they hated her because of the RK situation.
Just for anyone that doesn't know, Ginuwine corrected himself when he said Aaliyah fell out with Missy Elliott, Missy and Aaliyah ended on good terms. Timbaland and Aaliyah were arguing because he didn't wanna go out to Australia to record for her album and felt rushed to produce something for the album (as far as I know), and Ginuwine was annoyed the label put more money into her projects instead of his. It's a shame as it's not her fault she was the staple for the label.
Thank you for explaining, I had wondered why Aaliyah fell out with Ginuwine and Timb. Just remembering how kind of a person she was, I’m sure she’s forgiven them both.

I can attest to the fact Ginuwine stayed out of scandal, from my observation. He "kept his nose clean" no arrests or anything of the sort. He got with Solé and raised his family he deserves a lot of respect.

Well Ginuwine is from Ft. Washington MD in the DMV I believe, and he used to be an exotic dancer from what I understand. Ginuwine's daughter is beautiful.

Well, I'm not sure because the video I saw it looked as though he had like four daughters. Wow, I didn't know Ginuwine was a dead-beat dad but I'm not surprised he acts as though he thinks he's the Ish. Claudia Jordon stated that Ginuwine told her she was always his crush although the two of them hooked up years ago which she initially denied.

Few people remember or even know that Ginuwine lost both of his parents between '99 and '01.
I can relate because I've lost my mom in Feb of 2014 and my dad in Feb of this year. I'm quite sure that for Ginuwine, that back-to-back type of grief is no joke!! I'm quite sure that it easily manifested into other areas of his life. Remember, he had a wife and kids to support, so he couldn't stop working for too long to grieve effectively.
At the end of the day, whether we like it or not, they were coworkers. We only knew what we saw and if nothing else, you can at least relate to the situation on a surface level. I'm glad that he was able to get some closure via Missy's dream/vision.

Both Aaliyah and Ginuwine are two of my favorite artists. Their friendship was short and bittersweet. I'm so happy they got to do songs together, appear on music soundtracks together and they were both apart of the Supafriends. I just found out recently Ginuwine wrote one of my favorite songs by Aaliyah "Miss U." I know Ginuwine loves to perform and gives his all in each show.My favorite song by him is Differences. Both Aaliyah and Ginuwine are legends and should be treated as such. It's sad they were never able to reconcile their friendship. I know he still misses her dearly. This was another great video Tony.

Wow.....thank you for this. I never knew that You Got Served was originally for Aaliyah and Ginuwine. I loved the friendship that they had in addition to Missy, Timbaland, etc. I hate that the business separated them. I loved the music back then but guess I never paid attention to Timbaland producing for JT and Nelly Furtado causing division between Timbaland and Gunuwine. The old clips of Ginuwine from 106 and Park took me back. One thing about Ginuwine, he was gonna be extra and dance on every song. The way they honored Aaliyah in the Take Away video always brought tears to my eyes. That last part of the video though.....😭😭😭😭

I really want a deep exploration why the public pretty much swept the age difference between Aaliyah and these men that were rumored to date her (With the exception of you know who. I bawled like a baby when she passed. I hadn't cried for an artist like that since Pac left us. So young and it was just odd that she never lived beyond 2001. So sad about her dad. Her brother lives in Japan. He might reveal things one day

I use to roll with this crew. This is my rocket crew. More so the siblings, band, background singers, the producers and road crew were my crew but I chilled with all of them at one point bc they kicked it heavy with their team and band mates.
It was crazy, the guy I was seeing at the time was set to be on that very plane but it was already so packed, so the rest of the crew was scheduled to catch the next flight out. One of the Saddest most memorable mornings of my life.
Though most of her team were Cali based, they all stayed in Manhattan when working on Aaliyah’s projects, her NYC crib was sick. She had his wrap around couch I’ll never forget. I’ll never forget the days walking around with all of them in time square. They all stayed up in Sam Ash Music store testing instruments and having so much fun for hours…Times you just think will last forever…
And lord, Genuine had the CRAZIEST TOURS EVER! He is mad ghetto crazy gangster all that.. lol! And you then put Cali boys wity DC boys and it’s WILD FUN!!
On the back of the bus playing craps, G stayed down to earth and hung with his band mates like brothers. He is feisty, fire FOIN and FUN!
I remember us all including Genuwine Having to often sneak out of clubs, hotels, out of cities to avoid being mobbed at times by their fans. And with Genuwine (who had a mouth and then hands) it could easily be some other gangster stuff going on so angry janky promoters sometimes would come trying to hunt him down… lol!!
It was crazy crazy but crazy fun on his tours.
I remember being on his tour with my dude, who wrote and produced for him and how the malls would open up after hours just for celebrities in town and we would all be in the mall and have the whole thing to ourselves running around shopping. OMG the life. Funnest times ever. The world felt like it was ours…

I think it's Ginuwine's body shape that's laughable to people. As he aged his head got larger but his body has yet to catch up therefore making his dance moves look funny. Omarion is another whose whole dance style was based on the stuff Ginuwine did.
And for the record, James Brown was the originator and Michael Jackson refined it, but Ginuwine to another level.
Wow Tony how enlightening to know these fun facts. Aaliyah was booked and busy! Just to think how many accolades she would have received for her talent as an actress. She was already Oscar worthy after Romeo must die in my opinion. She proved she was versatile after QOTD also. The what ifs are what truly gets me if it werent for that "fateful" day. The fact that she is still a trendsetter after all these years is a testament to just how powerful she was and was to become in the industry. For some reason I cannot see the 4 replies to this. I agree 100% w/your sentence about being extra. What we do in our youth most times should not continue into our mature lives; for Ginuwine such is the case for him when it comes to the dancing. If he wants to do that in his performances he needs to brush up with a Choreographer and blow the dust off his old moves or get some new ones all together, and continue exercise to flatten his stomach as much as possible! Either he doesn't care or doesn't realize it, but he looks goofier than anything else with what he's been doing on stages.

Aaliyah is a legend and so is Ginuwine but I feel as though Aaliyah through her passing gets more solidly recognised as being one and Ginuwine sadly goes underrated despite his amazing body of work. Differences will always be one of my all time favourite songs forever. It also blows my mind that Miss you was a Ginuwine song originally because thats one of my favourite Aaliyah songs, although I have now heard him sing it I still think that song suits Aaliyah way more. Wow! I was packing to go back to the dorm to start my junior year of undergrad. I happened to he up late with the radio on, and that eerie dj talk started - you know, with no music in the background, extremely somber tone - and I said aloud, "Oh Lord, who died?" Then when the dj said Aaliyah's name, I thought surely it was a mistake. Of course, back then, all you could do was wait for more radio reports as well as the next tv news broadcast to know if something was legitimate. By morning, we all knew it was true. In my case I'll say had accepted it because of being up late and switching stations to see if it was true. Shout out to WKYS 93.9, WPGC 95.5, WHUR 96.3, MAGIC 102.3 - the DMV.

Great topic. I’ve been researching the truth behind the “falling out” for years. Aside from business think it had something to do with Dame Dash and I don’t think G, Tim and Missy were fond of her dating him. Also, I saw somewhere that G tried to shoot his shot at Aaliyah but she turned him down for Static Major. I also heard that Jay’s line on “crazy in love” where he said “the Ginuwine article I do not sing tho” was a diss to G due to all of that as well. It’s so many conflicting stories and I don’t think anyone will ever openly talk about what happened.
