    I would advise everyone to check the conector on the new expansion tank before replacing. The one I bought at gsf had the pins too long and I had to grind them a bit

    If you want the bottle may be reused if the sensor of colant is defective. You need to dissansembly the bootle and insert in 100 ml of a chemical solution that remove the oxidation from the probe. In my case the chemical solution was a bathroom cleaner(CL base). It works well.

    I have trouble when it's cold weather opening/to undo the coolent tank lid to top up coolent. Plastic thread becomes very stiff seized up on a cold morning I can't twist it lefty loosey by hand to undo. Any tips on how to open e.g. a warm cloth or aid of a tool?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety +1

      Putting a something fairly hot on the lid would in theory expand it a little to open it (not a blow lamp!), perhaps one of those warmimg bag that have beans in them. They use them as bed or joint warmers. once the water system has the correct coolant and level you don't need to take the top off for years, so I'm thinking you may have a problem if you are filling it regularly?

    Hi. Question. I have Skoda Fabia Mk1. Instead of G12 coolant I've got Comma Xstream G40 (already mixed) from Halfords. What do you think? Is it ok to top it up?
    Can't find G12 anywhere.
    Thanks

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      No, G40 is equivalent to G12++ which is not the same. G30 is the same as g12/g12+ and is compatible, G40 isn't compatible.

    • @Thea_Katatic
      @Thea_Katatic Před 3 lety

      Thanks for quick reply. Current coolant color is pink. Comma Xstream G40 is also pink. I've changed it for G30 but color is red.
      Now I'm even more confused.
      With my research I found out also that G30 is compatible with G12. Hmmm...

    Hey, I have fabia with "comfort" trim as your is and i have problem with remote key locking and unlocking. It just doesnt work. I tried everything from checking fuses, changing batteries in key fobs, re-pairing keys with car diagnostics, and nothing works.. The car just doesnt respond to key. Any help or future video maybe? Thanks for all tips.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      Does the light light up on the key? does the key work all the locks manually in the drivers door lock? When you open the door are the interior lights/door light on? Does the security flashing light on the door card work? check connections going into door by the A pillar/door lock/control unit under steering wheel next to heater clutch pedal. VAGCOM would be able to isolate problem diagnosic best so you know where to look further before you start replacing stuff. control units fail/door locks fail/wiring connections fail. Also check battery is good with good ground. Hope this helps :-)

      @djmatthev Před 3 lety

      @@HatBoyHarvey All keys were checked for signal, they showed up to be allright, unlocking and locking the car manualy works fine, microswitch in door lock is ok too, im worried that it should be comfort control unit, because VAG can not comunicate with it.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      It could well be the central locking control module, worth checking the wiring to the unit first. Do you know if the car leaks in water? as I keep hearing reports of damp effecting these a lot and I also have had issues with this. I cured the damp in the footwells and the electrical gremlims disapeared.

      @djmatthev Před 3 lety

      @@HatBoyHarvey i had big leak from back doors, fixed it (i think you even made a video about it) and no more leaks are in the car. So i will check the connection to the control module and i hope its just some oxidation on conectors and not whole module gone. Anyways, thanks for your time and help.

    Hello my friend i remove the pannel like you do in the photo but i dont see relay 377 for front window wipper can you just help me wicht numer is please .

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 3 lety

      No relay 377. wiper relay is on the circuit supply voltage board contained within the box under the other relays. It is soldered to the pcb board on most mk1 fabias and not a separate unit. It can be replaced if you melt the soldered joints to remove. First try to check all connections to the module and any visible wires damaged. Also on some models the relay was placed inline with wiper motor, behind the scuttle panel. The wiper stalk arm may also be faulty which I will soon do a video on.

    Hi im having a similar problem mk1 2003, light comes on before i start driving, while driving, sometimes not at all, but when it does come on my fuel guage drops to empty !!! also my light for the washer fluid comes on when its full only started doing this since the temperature light came on.....i have replaced the coolant sensor + new coolant.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 14 dny

      Hmm, some electrical glitch. as the fuel guage is affeected I would suspect the instrument binical connections and/or failing dry cracked solder joints on the PCB. the former just spray connections with electrical cleaner and re-attach, with the later disconnect the neg earth lead before taking the binical out. Take care with a magnifying glass to spot cracking and re-flow the joints. Also you may have a failed level indicator in the expansion bottle so could replace with new OEM unit first. Hope this helps :-)

    • @kieran5937
      @kieran5937 Před 14 dny

      @HatBoyHarvey thanks for your reply, I will clean all the connections 1st if that fails ill install a new expansion bottle, if that fails I'll have to pay £120 for a diagnostic.

      If you sensor is working then yes, if not then I would recommend a new one. By all means clean the old one to see if that works, if it then does and your happy with it then, great job sorted :-)
