  • Australia’s two major political parties are arguing over climate change. Over the weekend, you may have seen headlines that Opposition Leader Peter Dutton was planning to pull out of the Paris Agreement if the Coalition is voted in at the next election. However, Dutton then clarified that this is not true. Nevertheless, he has said he will scrap Labor's current 2030 emissions target if he wins the next election. We'll tell you what you need to know in today's deep dive.

Man's 3% contribution to CO2 emissions has no effect on the weather, and Australia contributes only 1.7% of that.
It's a bunch of nonsense, it's all supposed to have happened by now and it hasn't.

You are right. Natural CO2 already blocks that 15 µm band many times, besides vapor and clouds block this and wider range of IR. Blocking 15 µm again by man-made CO2 does not change much anything. Short- and long wave IR escapes anyway. Latent convection works anyway. And reflected light escapes without CO2's leave.

@@hartunstart well i tend not to go into specifics too much as most these days just don't have the background knowledge required but yes you are right.
the trapping of IR is mostly due to water vapour, co2 plays a minor role up to a certain concentration (about 300 ppm from memory) but increases beyond that have no further effect.

Correct. The CSIRO stated that even if Australia meets its target unless the entire world meets their targets it will have ZERO effect on the weather so it is TRILLIONS of Dollars WE will spend yet we cannot influence in any way what the rest of the world does. China alone produces more than 30% of ALL carbon and that is growing each decade at a rapid rate. 40 years ago they produced less than 10% of the worlds carbon emissions and have more than tripled this since Kyoto Protocol(the first worldwide effort to reduce emissions) was signed. A second Kyoto was signed after the first resulted in a huge increase in emissions under the first one.
It really is ludicrous for Labor or anyone to push ahead with renewables as their main tactic to reduce emissions as emissions have INCREASED at a faster rate since renewables became the accepted solution. Rather than reducing worldwide emissions since Renewables started it has actually resulted in not just an increase in emissions but an exponential increase in emissions meaning we are emitting MORE emissions each decade than we were worldwide BEFORE this unachievable task began.
And electricity prices are rising as fast as the emissions rise. Bad for the planet and bad for consumers. We have been sold a DUD. As a wag once said "Never have so many been fooled by so few and paid so much for the privilege of being seen as fools". In 50 years our children will think we were crazy to adopt renewable energy via solar panels and windmills when there are far cheaper and far more efficient ways to reduce emissions. Renewables ONLY INCREASE emissions.

@@saintsone7877 the planet is fine, CO2 is good, 4000ppm would be good, warming is also good , but it's not happening. THERE IS NO NEED TO REDUCE "EMISSIONS", wake up please.

Reducing emissions is expensive and hopelessly inefficient way to cool down the climate. Somebody is selling snake oil to our leaders.
There are hot areas and cold areas on this planet. We could cool down locally those hot areas and this would drag the average temperature down, too. There are cost-effective methods for this.
And first, move the thermometers out of big cities.

In all my research there is no such thing as climate change. The imbalance of carbon dioxide and oxygen is not really an issue. First of all the carbon dioxide and oxygen is actually a variable amounts and this both can change continually instantly because human's consumption of oxygen is dependent on the availability of oxygen and the availability of oxygen soly rely on the plant's consumption on carbon dioxide and vise versa. So there's no such things as problem on to too much on the excess of carbon dioxide because the more carbon dioxide the greener the plants and it will propagate faster.
