      @@100tghost7 until she gets in a gunfight. Unfortunately gear set up is crucial for these situations. Its called economy of motion why have a mag pouch that you have to reach across your body vs having it on your weak side , .10ths of seconds matter when ypur life is on the line. After 21 years in SF and Law enforcement and as a Combat Marksmanship Instructor I only see Cops with mags on the same side as their pistol, you'll never see any SPEC OPS or SWAT with that setup, just saying,never made any sense to me. But God bless her and she does a sometimes thankless job.

  • @Justaguyyoutubin
    @Justaguyyoutubin Před 4 lety +10

    Some considerations for new officers looking at this belt - try to get your magazines on the opposite side as your dominant hand, so that when you are reaching for a mag, you dont need to take your left hand and cross across your body to pull mags from the right side. It sounds nit-picky, but it makes reloads a lot slower. That being said, she looks pretty small, and its probably policy that her taser is a cross draw - so for people with smaller waists, real estate is going to be tough.
    Also, try not to line anything that is hard or solid with your spine because if (when) you fall down, it can cause a potentially life changing injury. Its also smart to consider placing your pepper spray on your side near a larger object like the taser or firearm because when you do inevitably fall on your side, it has a reduced chance of deploying or cracking open because you will land on the larger objects instead. Having spray accidentally deploy in a scuffle sucks, trust me.
    If I could recommend adding one thing to the belt, it would be an ez squeeze hand sanitizer pouch that you can use after going hands on.

    The gloves! 🙌🏼 I carry two enclosed handcuff pockets, one for cuffs and one for rubber gloves.
    My department still uses the leather belts, but since we don’t carry as much for parking, we have the lighter, nylon belts that Velcro to the underbelt, and they hold surprisingly well!

    I did 2 years of armed security in 2011-2013 and I used nylon duty belt with soft side on inside and hard side out Velcro under belt. No keepers we needed and anytime on training it was awesome for me. I used to have 6 keepers before that and everyone I pulled my gun it would pull the holster with it (upside-down unlocked protection) so with Velcro it's way better. Try it.

    A suggestion. Something I leartned from experience. Move your mag pouch to the left side of your belt. Situate your mags so that the front of the mags are toward your midline. During a reload, you draw the mag with your left hand, index finger extended in linear position up the front of the mag. Do this and you won't need eyes on your reload. Simply release your expended mag and point your left finger (with the reloading mad in hand) toward the magazine well and slam it home. You'll shave a lot of time off your reload. Love the video! Most people know nothing of the little things cops do.

      Hallo IkBenWill I’m an officer in the US, I’ve honestly never seen anyone wearing hi-vis clothing such as a jacket like I see UK officers wearing. We get issued reflective vests to put on when necessary, but for those (like myself) who wear external plate carriers they can be quite difficult to wear.

    • @itsweb1584
      @itsweb1584 Před 4 lety

      J Johnson • Yea I get that. Unless you’re a plain clothed officer in the UK all stab vets are worn on the outside. Most forces use black wicking T-shirt’s now - very few still wear dress type shirts. Where I work my yellow vest sits on top of my stab vest at all times. We have another high vis jacket for bad weather, or to be used at traffic collisions.

    some of my older collegues wearing their Dutybelts here in Germany like we say: "Wild West Style". they don't use an underbelt and it looks a bit weired. but generally we're quite free how to set all on our belt, but the Department only make rules what belongs on the belt and what in the vest.
    how you configure your belt at all is quite your thing, you have only to make sure that you have nothing on it what don't belongs to it. (like a cellphone pocket. the cellphone belongs in a pouch on the vest for private stuff)

      I've used hinged & link style cuffs, also flexicuffs, zip ties. Newer brands are out there. Many cops, corrections, federal agents like Peerless. I have a older set of model 100 S&W weather shield(red). I dont use them often because they seem small. Awkward for larger wrists(males). I'd say hinged cuffs are more secure but link(chain) styles are faster. I'd add to carry a extra handcuff key & use a key/tool you can operate with with wearing 🧤. Some LE cadre & supervisors say use traditional handcuff keys only but there are a number of new styles out there. Do not waste $ on the Stream light key. The small battery 🔦 wears out fast. Also avoid ASP type handcuffs. They were popular in the 1990s, 2000s but they can break or not work correctly. Be safe...

    Gig line is about the only thing you got right. Get rid of cross-draw (present the bad guy with a perfect grip for your taser) set up, as most agencies forbid strong gun hand drawing of your taser, then practice weak hand taser draws and deployment. Get a double cuff case. Don’t put any less than lethal items on your back, do you have sonic hearing or another set of eyes back there? You shouldn’t put anything behind the sides of your hips. Keep your back free and clear of anything, except maybe your glove pouch perfectly centered on your back. Your 45 year old hips and back will thank me. 11 years on the job. Best comfort for driving a patrol car, nothing on my back.

    Protip for inner belts with buckles: wear the buckle between the front loop and second loop. When it's off to the side, the Sam Brown buckle and inner belt buckles won't be on top of each other.
    Mags should be on your support side so you don't have to reach across your body for reloads.

    i've run into this eye dominance issue alot. if you are left handed. Just draw with your left hand and drive the gun underneath your dominant eye. using your right hand has probably made you a better weak side shooter. however, unless you are actually ambidextrous you won't be able to shoot as good with your weak side. this was a fun video. Stay safe sister.

    Little constructive criticism. Giving you the benefit of the doubt because I don’t know what’s on your vest, but one of the biggest things I don’t see is a Tourniquet on your belt!!! That’s a big thing that can save your or your fellow officers. You Should honestly have one on your belt & vest. Two, your flashlight holder on your belt needs to be replaced with a holder that snaps. You get into a fight or tussle that will fall out. You might carry one on your vest, but you should always carry two lights in case one goes dead Especially because you don’t have a weapon light.

    Also a cop here recommendation check out duty belt suspenders I’ve been at it for 7 years now and I got them from my wife a few years back they are a life saver and they better distribute the weight of your belt (I don’t wear a outer vest outside of my heavy plate carrier for hot calls)

    Thank you for carrying extra gloves. Many times I’ve responded to a major injury, people are not wearing gloves. I keep 8-10 pairs on me at a time. I hand them out like candy. Great video!

    From experience, I dont particle agree with your set up. You have your OC in the middle of your back which is almost impossible to reach when your need it in a stressful situation. Your mags should be on the opposite side of your weapon so you can reach them easier with your left hand. If your not using the radio on your belt then remove the attachment, it's just taking up space that you could use. I also would suggest moving your handcuff pouch away from the small of your back, falling on it will hurt. Plus as I said earlier it's harder to grab something in the small of your back during a stressful situation. It took me a couple of different setups for my duty belt until I got it perfect for me.

    You should try a velcro duty belt in addition to the velcro inner belt. Also, have velcro sewn on the back of your cuff case, mag pouches, holster and other belt accessories to make for much more surface area where the velcro is "connected". It really lessens the need for keepers and keeps your gear staying put. You can also get a plain leather glove holder and silent key holder. I think it looks a little tacky when you mix nylon with leather.
    Also, it sounds as though your agency allows load bearing vests. That is great to help your back. Check out the Back Defender system as well. It isn't cheap, but saving your back is worth it.

    As an instructor your mag pouch should have been corrected please put your mag pouch to the opposite side so you are not cross drawing for reloads. If the mag pouch is on the other side you can just go straight down for faster reloads try it good luck.

    Just found your channel and subscribed! Fellow LEO here. FYI I ended up switching from a leather basketweave duty belt to a Bianchi accumold basketweave duty belt with velcro and its so much better than leather with keepers! The bianchi fake leather is lighter, plus you don’t need keepers, saving more weight off the hips. The whole system just stays put on your waist. I do use my baton ring as a keeper for redundancy though! Stay safe out there!

    I carry the same streamlight as an EMT. I don’t use it nearly enough but it’s stupid bright for its size. My belt holster for it broke though. Been stuck carrying it in my glove pocket till I find a new one I like. I placed my raptor shears on my right hip as well. Trying to get muscle memory down. Do you wear them? I’m considering getting a pair, but we wear those thick rifle plates where I work, so I’m not sure if it would help all that much considering how heavy our vest is.

    When I was a Sheriffs Explorer in high school my duty belt set up was radio and holder on my left hip key holder in front of my left leg hand cuffs on my right leg in front flashlight and holder on right hip finally phone and holder on right hip as well back side clear. I carried black gloves in side leg pockets. Pen in my polo and a small note book in pocket.
    They’re were times I’d put a Gatorade or water bottle in my back pocket often
