- Going-to-the-Sun Road at Glacier National Park - The Complete Tour End-to-End
September 19
"Going-to-the-Sun Road" runs through Glacier National Park. It spans the E-W length of the park and crosses the Continental Divide at an elevation of 6,646 feet. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1932. Join me in the video for all the highlights of this 49 mile masterpiece.

PLEASE NOTE: If wondering, I used the utmost care when filming the driving sections. Eyes were always on the road, not the camera and rarely did I shoot with other cars and people in immediate proximity.
Hey Americas Parks, glad to hear your moving to your new house in Michigan. Ive spent time in Michigan and its amazing. I may come find you Randy. Glad the family is doing well, My friend.
@@alrichardson7027 Thanks much, Al!
I have fond memories of traveling this road in the 90's with my late wife who I miss so terribly. I called her the tour director; before the internet she would get books and research all the best places and vistas to see.❤
May the Lord bless your heart, David. Glad to hear of your affection for your late wife and the fond memories this video produced.
May God have mercy on her soul. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
Thank you for the kind heartfelt words. Even though its been 5 years, I think of her every day.@@hanialzaki5087
This video was stunning.. I am saving this one! The beauty of our Lords creation and what He has provided for us fills my heart with joy. Thank you once again!
Amen! Nothing better than to hear that response to the video!
Going To The Sun Road is simply the number one drive in North America!
You have good taste, my friend!
How about the parking situation going to sun road if you wanna hike somewhere on that area. We’re planning to drive there from the west
@@barbieardelean1721 There are pullouts and places to park on parts of Going To The Sun Road but they are limited and if you plan on hitting the Highline Trail or Hidden Lake Overlook Trail at Logan's Pass you better be there early because the visitor center parking fills up fast.
@@AmericasParks Thanks Randy that means a lot!
@@barbieardelean1721 There are pullouts and a few places to park on Going To The Sun Road. If you plan on stopping at either of The Highline Trail or Hidden Lake Overlook Trail, I would suggest getting there as early as possible because the parking lot at Logan Pass fills up quickly, even in the off-season.
I was at GNP last year, stunningly beautiful, pure heaven. Regards from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Spectacular as always - greetings from a fellow NJ resident - My wife and I were at GNP the same time in Sept 2023 (I was looking for you). GNP is truly a gift from God to be enjoyed by us. This park is now in my top 5 and a must for outdoor lovers. Thank you for making these inspiring videos. God Bless you and your family. Wishing you all the best !!!
That was a really encouraging and edifying comment! Just shared your remarks with my wife. Wish we would have run into each other! God bless my NJ friend!
I lived in Polson for 5 years when I was in high school in the late 80s, early 90s, and we went up to Going to the Sun Road at least once every summer. I havent been there in 20 years, and now its so packed its hard to get in without reservations. Truly God's handiwork is on display. Jaw dropping scenery.
Spectacular!!!
It is one of the most beautiful roads in the United States. Absolutely love the views. Thank you for sharing, and much love
Thanks my friend! So thankful you have exposed your family to such amazing places!
This is my favourite vedio ❤ in your All vedios
Great to hear that!
Phenomenal. Been there twice and this video is the absolute best at encapsulating the experience. Thank you. God’s power and beauty in full display.
Amen, Rob! Glad to learn the video brought forth praise for our Creator!
The entire video is stunning and beautifully edited ! if I had to choose the best scene or frame then the low angle shot of the red kayak with the lake and mountains in the background stole the show !! Brilliant, thank you for inspiring us
Beautiful comment... thank you very much!
What a wonderful and beautiful video
Beautiful. God is great. Beautiful music to go along with it.
Amen, brother! Glad to hear the video brought forth praise for our Creator!
I drove the Going to the Sun Road from west to east at sunrise on September 14th last year. I’ll never forget it as long as I live. The experience stirred my soul.
I want to thank you and others for the encouragement that you give to others. With yourself and the other people I follow, I have seen 33 national parks (8 in Canada) in 53 weeks.
The influences that I have seen by you and the multiple vloggers have encouraged me to see not only National Parks but the rest of the country as well. I feel like the Griswolds going to Wally World.
Though you will out hike me all day long I now see things that I could only see online, but because of you and the other people I follow, I am out doing things I would not have done 10 years ago.
For that, I am eternally grateful.
Thank you for what you do.
Great little tour. I spent 6 days in Glacier last June and hope to return again someday
Much appreciated! Glad you've experienced this gem!
My great grandfather ran a horse team when it was being built. I really need to get back sometime soon.
I will NEVER forget my drive on Going to the Sun Road. Even before I got there the name told me it was going to be something special. Being the driver I wasn't able to take it all in quite as much as I would have liked. Your video gives that to me. It's breathtaking! Thank you!
Really happy to hear that Debra!
When we visited a few years back, it was partially close due to construction. Still, one of our favourite parks!
Awesome video! That’s how I film. I let the park speak for itself. A few captions to remember the names of places and it’s plenty informative for others to follow. I’ll be GNP in July. But first, Alaska. Keep up the great work. Your videos are so helpful as I journey to every National Park.
Awesome, Steve! You have a great summer in the works! Be safe and enjoy!
What a magnificent drive! So many gorgeous creeks & falls - absolutely beautiful colors in the water & rocks. Beautifully done Randy!
Thanks so much Heather! All the best to you and Jim!
Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve driven it in both directions. The views are breathtaking !
Beautiful! Going there in early July 😊
I could watch this on loop for hours. Different than your usual videos but just as good! God is an amazing creator!
Amen, Kayla! A little different than when we did that full drive in the fog in 2014 with the family!
Randy, what a great reminder of my drive through there 40 years ago. I also had really good weather, maybe better, since it didn't rain on me. This was on my drive home from Alaska. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Jim, glad it brought back some fond memories!
Beautiful landscape! I enjoyed the different style of this video. Thanks as always Randy!
Thanks much, Tyler!
I have been to many places in the world. I have seen glacier in the arctic, desert in the Sahara, dried beach of Dead Sea, beautiful mountains of Patagonia and Swiss Alps. Last year I did a road trip from NY to Oregon, and I stopped by national and state parks along the way including this one. Sometimes I camped in the park. I realized there is no need to get out of America. We have all of these beautiful sceneries. We are truly blessed. Good job on filming the park, brings me back all the good memories.
A different style video for you, but I loved it too! Thanks for the tour and showing us the stops along the GTS Road. I hope you enjoyed your hike free day. Lol.
haha! Yes, it was a welcomed break after the previous 5 days of intense hiking! Thanks for the kind words!
Yet another great video Randy!
Much appreciated!
Love the view
An all time great drive. We loved it when we did it in 2015. Hope the move is going smoothly.
Thanks buddy! Yes, as the Lord permits, we should be in Michigan in a week.
What a collection of stunning scenery.
So beautiful out there Josh!
Amazing and very beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
beautiful video, we went up and down the Road a few times while we were there, great to go back this way thanks for sharing
Glad to hear the video helped to revive some good memories, Thorn!
Awesome video in a beautiful area!
Thanks and and have a blessed week!
Beautiful drive! Great virtual tour of the Going-to-the-Sun Road!
Thanks, my friend! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Fantastic footage RMac! I have been there, but when I went the road was closed due to a landslide-someday I will go back and experience the full thing!
Great video Randy! I've really enjoyed your Glacier series. This was so nice just to see how much there is to see right along the road.
Right on, brother! Few places compare with God's artistic beauty in the Park. Have a blessed Lord's Day!
It's such a beautiful park. Your video/photography work was awesome.
I took a solo trip after retirement to GNP last yr at about this time. Lived out of my truck bed. Alot of trails were still closed due to the snow, but I was lucky enough to have RTTS open the 2nd day I was there. Totally unexpected but was so glad it happened. It was icing on the cake.
Thanks for the video. New subscriber who has a lot of your past videos to catch up on😊
Glad you have been able to enjoy this gem, Mike! Congratulations on the retirement and welcome to the channel!
Wow. Awesome. I hope to do that someday. Enjoy that shake. I know it was delicious. Thank you for sharing this trip.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
What a beautiful and majestic park to visit. God's country, for sure. ❤
Right on! His majesty on display!
Spectacular
Beautiful place
Keep America clean and green forever ❤🇺🇲🌲🎄🍁⛰️
Amen... we live in such a beautiful country! Hope future generation will be able to experience what we too often take for granted!
My favourite national park and favourite national park vlogger have produced my favourite national park asmr video 🙂 Thank you for this and your huckleberry milkshake is making me hungry for one!
You have been a great encouragement to me!
Stunning!!!
Right on!
nice - good music too!
Much appreciated!
Pastor, I kept waiting for you to say something. The longer I waited I appreciated more the way it was done. We were set to fly to Calgary and do Glacier too. Then Covid hit, gates closed and the trip cancelled. Coming from Cleveland.
These covid stories are so sad. Hopefully you'll get another opportunity. God bless!
I’ve got to get there Randy before this old body gives out on me. Absolutely spectacular
Hope a trip comes together for you, my friend!
Hello Americas Parks and let me tell you...
This was amazing Randy! Cant wait to see whats next.
By the way my friend hows the family doing.
Hey Al, thanks much! Wild on our end - final service at the church this Sunday and Lord willing, in the new home in Michigan this week.
Well done!
Thank you very much!
For more than a decade, signs at Glacier National Park warned visitors that the glaciers would be gone by the year 2020 - now those signs where quietly removed.
Yes, the "other side" is rarely presented in the climate debate. Thanks for your remarks.
When do we get to see the long version☺️👍😱
lol! You might need to see that one in person. 😀
We’re going in Sept!
When I was there in September the crowds were thinning out, but the park services were beginning to close for the season too. Have a super trip!
We live just outside west glacier…only way to do the road is by e-bike.
@AmericasParks Can you tell me what time of year this was filmed and what year it was filmed ? Thanks
I was there on September 19. From what I remember, service at the park was beginning to close for the season.
@@AmericasParks thanks for your reply . I'm planning a trip there in early September and I have some concerns about how dry it will be.
Where did you get the Huckleberry milk shake?
It was in one the few shops in Apgar Village - one of the buildings selling merchandise closest to the lake.
Please create one vedio like this in mount rainier national park 🏞️
Great suggestion! Sure would like to get back to Rainier!
"There are huge non climate effects of carbon dioxide which are overwhelmingly favorable which are not taken into account. To me that's the main issue that the earth is actually growing greener. This has been actually measured from satellites the whole earth is growing greener as a result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So it's increasing agricultural yields, it's increasing the forests, it's increasing all kinds of growth in the biological world and that's more important and more certain than the effects on climate." ~Freeman Dyson, Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.
