The best looking Japanese WW2 fighter. And it's a Kawasaki, like my bike. Awesome work mate!
Awesome brush and camouflage works, brilliant vintage whethering, inspiring job. Thank you Tony!!!!
A great model of a beautiful aircraft. I live in Kobe City, Japan. On the mountain behind my house is a crash-site memorial to the aircrew (both Japanese and American) killed in a mid-air collision in March 1945 between a Hein/Tony interceptor and a US B-29 which was firebombing the city. It is generally believed that the collision was inadvertent (eg during a strafing run on the bomber) ie not a 'kamikaze'-style attack.
Highly inspired from this masterpiece, I bought the kit, and won a COMMENDED in ADVANCED Category in 37th Annual Contest of IPMS HELLAS last year. Thank you very much sir!
Thank you for posting this excellent work. I have this kit in the stash, and it’s great to first watch someone that knows what they’re doing...
Great job. That synthetic hair is perfect for the scale look of the antenna wires.
Best build yet. I loved this from start to finish. Awesome 👍
Love the 68th and 78th Sentais who operated in the New Guinea theatre of operations against Gen. Kenney,s 5th Air Force. Thank God! They're a variety of 1/48 decals for the KI-61 Tony fighter.
Bravo on that free hand camo painting - magnificent model - thanks for posting.
it would about kill me to cover that beautiful shiney aluminium paint job with all that camo What a Stuning work of art sir. Cheers.
that green over the NMF with the red and blue accents is quite something. great subject chosen by tamiya.
👍 Bravo superbe travail de précision et de réalisme 👏
Beautiful looking model. Another excellent build.
A beautiful kit. And it certainly seems to be engineered to allow the production of a Ki-100 in the future. It's the only reason I can think of for the separate panel in the center section of the wing underside. Hopefully it won't be too long coming. I've been waiting a while for earlier versions of the A6M model 11/21 and/or 22/32 to go along with the new A6M5 tooling.
Brilliant job dude just bought this kit :) its a beautiful kit, great presentation from tamiya, i only made two airfix planes so far :))
Well done! That Tamiya kit is a superb model.
Man' What an artist, Great job man, good technics. One of my favorite planes and you just make it look better... keep it coming!..
Thank you very much! Stay tuned for more videos!
nice build, loved the camouflage technique 👍
Thank you!
Something about mottling and bright squadron colors on a NMF. Probably my favorite build of yours. And you've taken Tony's realism to another level--right down to the engine that doesn't work. ;)
Looks like a speeder. Beautiful.
Wow!!! another terrific build.
Thank you very much!
Hermoso trabajo! Felicidades
wow thanks for doing this video very nice work
Beautiful! :D Very very nice job! :D
Awesome work, thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much George!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you very much!
My mouth is open. I can not close it. Masterpiece.
Superb detail!
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks for posting them.
Beautiful job on the Tony, but you sure went to a lot of trouble to get the gloss black undercoat for the Alclad. I use 40% Tamiya X-1 / 60% "slow" automotive lacquer thinner. It gives a brilliant, glossy finish that bites hard into the plastic so your Alclad will not pull off no matter if you leave masking tape on for a month. Try it: you will love it and it will save you a lot of time.
Thank you very much for the tip!
Absoutely beautiful. And this was all ootb.Superb!
Thank you very much Robert!
thank you very nice job
Great work!!!
very nicely work
very nice work
You sir, are a true artist! I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I've enjoyed every single one of them. I used to build models myself (never even close to your skills, though!) and I found it deeply soothing and relaxing. Now, with work, and kids and what not, I find it pretty hard to make time. So, your videos make up for that. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Patagonia!
PS: No doubt this a stupid question, but what is IPA? As far as I knew, it had something to do with brewing, but I don't suppose you're thinning your paints with beer, are you?
Thank you very Much Pablo! NEIPA and IPA my favorite beer type but no I am not thinning my paints with them. It's isopropyl alcohol. That's my bad I am adding this information on my new videos.
anyone that can free hand camo like that has got my vote!
Solid work!!
Great model, great video.
May I suggest to make more videos like this in the future?
Though I'm interested in your modelling, I don't want to
watch a an hour long video where only a part of the actual
build is shown.
Hi Sebastian, thank you very much for feedback. There are so many inexperienced modeler following my channel and copying my builds step by step. I upload uncut videos for them. After i completed a model, upload shorter version for advanced modelers and other viewers. I agree with you, it's real pain and deadly boring to watching long and uncut videos but it works when you copying it. I decided to upload longer versions when someone started to build a model first time in his life for a gift his grandfather using my Hellcat build video. Maybe i will split my channel for build logs in future.
nice! this is art work
Stunning :-D
Thank you!
Great build! You are an excellent modeler. I also really enjoy the soundtrack of your videos. Where is the music from? Is it available somewhere else?
Inarguably stunning work, but I reckon Kawasaki could build a real one in less man hours than it took to finish this. ; P
Stunnig work my Friend :) Pure magic :)
Thank you :)
Awesome builder! Subbed! :D
Thank you!
What kind of glue are you using? Also, what grit sandpaper do you use when sanding the seams?
Me encantan los vídeos y además aprendo un montón.
¿Puedo preguntarte si vas a poner algún vídeo más de la maqueta del F-14 de tamiya ? Es que tengo una y estaría muy interesado en ver cómo la pintas.
Muchas gracias.
Thanks to Google Translate :) Muchas gracias. Nuevo video F-14 que viene el próximo mes.
Hmm, I always wondered what type of beer you used to mix your paint with for airbrushing, turns out it is IPA. Will give that a shot next time!
Very good!😳
Y existirá actualmente un Hien en condiciones de vuelo??
Brilliant. You probably showed in the video, but was that Alclad black gloss you used as the base coat for the aluminum?
Thanks.
Thank you! No, i used Tamiya X18 -> 2000 grit sanding paper -> X-22 -> 2000 grit sanding paper -> Tamiya compound -> cleaned compound under the running tap water -> Alclad aluminum.
Hola, la sigla IPA significa alcohol isopropilico? Gracias-
my work sucks so much now that I have seen this video. How much PSI are you using when you paint the cockpit?
I don't know how you do it, but I totally stuffed up the paint. So much so I got upset with my self ( being nice ) and binned it.
Just marveless
Excellent paint job.
Do you mind if I ask you why use sand paper and compound after priming?
Polishing the surface is important step when you want to glossy finish like that.
Scale-a-ton thank you for the reply. Doesn't sandpapering removes some of the primers? Or remove some details ?
did the alclad paint ever come off while masking? Also what brand would you prefer for metalizers
Alclad paints are the safest metallic paints i ever used. But i prefer Mr Color metallics for all interior and engine paintings.
Could you explain the hairspray method? Is the paint not adhering well enough to the surface, and you can then create a chipping effect simply with a 2000 grid sandpaper?
Hi Harris, here's the link about it migjimenez.blogspot.com.tr/2009/11/hairspray-technique-vol1.html But i use sanding papers instead brush. Ofc i don't sanding just touching on paint layer gently. If it not works paint layer not enough wet. Water is the key for this method.
Thanks for answering! I'll give it a try. I used the sponge method before with moderate success.
qual cola é essa?
Outstanding job! I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to your future builds.
I take "IPA" stands for isopropyl alcohol; Does it matter which alcohol you use when you paint....70% or 90%? I can't remember which type I used but as a cost saving measure I tried to airbrush Tamiya paints with IPA few years ago and it didn't work very well.
Thank you very much! Yes it's isopropyl alcohol. It works with Gunze and Tamiya acyrilics perfectly. Also i use ethyl alcohol too. IPA is cheaper.
Thank you! I'll give it a try next time. I just purchased an 8 ounce container of Tamiya acrylic thinner for nearly $9 and for that much I can buy a LOT of IPA.
Curious to know how long it takes you to complete a model from start to finish? Your work is excellent
Thank you very much! It depends on which model you are building. I built Tamiya's P-51B in 8 hours for a workshop in a museum once. Also i built WnW Fe.2b in 4 months.
Great work mate, thinner IPA works with Gunze paints??
Thank you very much! Yes it works with only Tamiya and Gunze acyrlics
If you don't mind me asking, what camera do you use to capture your builds?
Not sure for this build but my current camera is Sony FDR AX53
Lovely build .. the only thing you didn't do was to sand a flat in the tyres
So, I have a question, it might sound stupid but I'm a beginner: why do you put a coat of black paint before the metallic one?
Nope not at all stupid question. This is must for metallic paints because metal pigments get more realistic reflection when apply over black and glossy surfaces.
I would have added aluminium variation, some dull parts.
Awesome build video, too many ads tho
Do you do requests?
If so, how about the new Revell Halifax BIII? Just a suggestion!
Hi, i build 1:72 only for comission builds. If my customers order it i will record full build session. But i prefer 1:48 and 1:32 for my CZcams channel.
Looking like me 109
Same diambler benz engine. Nothing more.
Great build! btw, what is the name of those music?
Thank you! Can you link the video with time? I need to check it before answer.
1:45- 4:32 Thank you!
You are welcome! Here are the links, have a great week! czcams.com/video/wCvgc6Gahk4/video.html czcams.com/video/lnyqkbAmhJk/video.html
Thank you very much!
TONY!
pardon my asking, what means ipa?
Isopropyl alcohol.
when you finish your f 14?
Hi, i can spend only a few hours a week for it. I hope it will be completed in June :)
When I was 7 years old I have read a book "The end of Empire". It was about 244. Sentai fighting against B-29 to the end of war. This unit was fighting on Hiens, so I consider it a point of honor to build this plane, especially Teruhiko Kobayashi's machine. He was my favourite character :)))
One of my favorite builds so far!
How do you avoid dust particles under the paint, sir? I just covered my mustang with metallic finish, carefully trying to get rid of all the dust before spraying, but still I have some dust which is very visible under the metallic coat. Not a tragedy, of course, but very embarrassing.
you cant avoid that unless you live in a pressurized room. Polishing is the key! Paint the model than after a few layers of clear coat you need to wet sand the whole surface with at least 2000 grit sandpaper than polish it with a rag and tamiya compound. It will shine like a mirror.
5:23 looks like those times japan allows its pilots to shit in the air
What is ipa?
thank you
It's isopropyl alcohol.
Thank you very much
Music made me ears bleed but great build nonetheless 👍
IPA=isopropilic alcohol????
I Vrok yes
As Fernando said yes.
Thanks
what kind of airbrush and how thin you do the paint? amazing my friend. i wish i can learn how to paint this good.
what can I say???? just WHAWWWWWWWWW
Great vid thanks, but that music man is awful no need
Yes, one of my older videos :) Check my latest videos for my current setup. Thanks for the feed back.
Hate the ads man.
"No nonsense, just scale modelling"
Given that it took 25secs of bullshit intro before i even saw the box, id say theres plenty of nonsense.
