  • Fujitsu’s European boss has described the editing of witness statements to defend the Horizon IT system that were used in the prosecutions of subpostmasters as “shameful”.
Paul Patterson told the Post Office Horizon IT inquiry that he was “surprised” that details of bugs, errors and defects (BEDs) in the scandal-hit software were not included in witness statements for criminal proceedings against subpostmasters.
He admitted that BEDs had existed in the system for “nearly two decades” and said the “vast majority” had been shared with the Post Office contemporaneously.

The Post Office EDITED OUT evidence that the Fujitsu accounts programme was faulty when it prosecuted sub-postmasters. What hope is there for the business culture of this country?

It’s totally obvious that this was a huge cover up ,I hope that important lessons are learned from this inquiry.

The fact that none of these scions of british businesses are head hunted by the usa, the eu etc tells us what we need to know. They usually follow the gilded path into the nhs and other taxpayer funded organisations where their lack of acumen is not considered relevant. Who they went to school and hunt to hounds with is what really matters.

The fact that people have gone to prison and been accused of fraud, shows the utter stupidity that infests our large organisations, including politics, the police etc. We have people in charge at all levels of society, in different organisations, who literally do not know what they are doing: and that equates to the mess this country is in.......in all matters.

😮The Fujitsu guy remarked that vital information re. bugs, defects etc. was edited out of key witness statements before evidence concerning the prosecution of sub-postmasters was presented!
If that isn't a blatant attempt to pervert the course of justice, I don't know what is! Fujitsu should be dragged through the courts along with the PO for their criminal actions!

The work was done by Fujitsu UK, a UK company. It is open to speculation whether the quality of the product would have been higher had they used talented and experienced staff from other countries, familiar with rigorous software development methodologies, ACID, and challenges of concurrent distributed system design.

At the time we were part of the EU and we had to use companies as part of a tendering process. We do have more control now and can look after our own interests, it's just that parliament isn't interested in doing so.

They really aren’t. Life for them will be mildly uncomfortable for a few weeks then they continue with huge salaries, pensions, or oh no the dreaded severance package which always involves hundreds of thousands and a step down or resignation.

Blameshifting, Fujitsu should have alerted the press that something was wrong and issued a press statement to that effect , they didn't and IMO are complicit with the Post Office in the cover-up, both companies are pathetic and not fit for purpose and yet our government continues to award contracts to Fujitsu. The government at the time and subsequent governments until now sat on their hands and themselves are complicit. Even now this gross miscarriage of justice continues to be swept under the carpet. Innocent people were criminalised and some ended their own lives as a consequence, so far not one exec from the Post Office or Fujitsu has been brought to task, lost their jobs or prosecuted, and our government pretends to care but continues to do nothing. Another case of the rich and powerful abusing the "little people" who have nothing. Times are changing, the fight back has begun, and it starts at the ballot box, forget red or blue, choose someone you think you can trust, maybe independent, Reform or something else but NOT either of the big two or that pathetic Ed Davey. Neither Sunak or Starmer are interested in us and neither are a majority of their MPs.
