With your feet on the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah (Yeah) Your head will collapse, and there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water, see it swimmin' I was swimmin' in the Caribbean Animals were hiding behind the rocks Except the little fish Bumped into me, I swear he was trying to talk to me, koi-koi Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water, see it swimmin' With your feet on the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse, and there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water, see it swimmin'
My favorite part of the Pixies was always the high tone piece of heaven sang by Kim Deal. That's probably why I love her other projects like the Breeders. Thank you, Kurt Cobain, for introducing me to these people.
adfggffffffddffd In his interviews, he frequently mentioned that the Pixies was an absolutely huge influence to Nirvana and to his ears, Smells Like Teen Spirit is just a Pixies rip off. Also, I have heard that Surfer Rose is his second favorite album right next to Raw Power by Iggy and the Stooges. So, yeah, as you can see, I'm a huge Nirvana fan, and Kurt Cobain really introduced me to many artists.
Damn! Thanks for the post of this rare version. Just look at them, each of them, ripping it apart for the music. Damn, they were so awesome. And Joey, the man with his guitar - Kim with those haunting vocals - wow!
@treblaivan i got to see the pixies 50 times in the 80s b4 they got popular in the USA. there would be less than 50 people at small clubs in boston till 89... mad thrashing small crowds... great times,
Nice to argument about how one speaks, but this is the best video dokument of the beginning of one of the most influencial bands in the 80/90`s. So argue anywhere but not here. Thanx!
why people have to argue about Nirvana on every single Pixies video?? Nirvana is my favorite band and Pixies is one of my favorite bands. Both are pure genious, can we please drop it now? Many people wouldn't have known about Pixies if not for Nirvana, I wouldn't - and Nirvana have a lot to thank Pixies for, about gaining the sound from quiet to loud etc.
That's what I like about Pixies. Same goes with a metalcore band called ''Enter Shikari''. They wear normal clothes and don't even have piercings. They are just simple.
i love that black francis never really did anything to appease the rock star persona. normal shirt, normal haircut. lol he looks like some random guy they found at a bus stop on the way to the show.
The best band, from the most under-rated decade, from the most laughed-at and ignored genre, in a pool of awesome bands in the same category.... Pixies. Not just for breakfast anymore.
The most under-rated band ever. The underground bands of the 80's: Pixies, Violent Femmes, REM, Morphine, etc... so much good music buried in current movie soundtracks and commercials. The kids now-a-days have NO FUCKING CLUE what roots gave them the bands they enjoy today. A sad fucking shame.
@jabuhrer1 I love all those bands and I listened to them before listening to Pixies. But as of right now, these guys are my favorite, you can just tell the huge influence they've had on the indie rock genre. Even Issac Brock said that Pixies are one of his greatest influences. So I wouldn't say ripping off, I'd say paying homage to. Haha
@tnable182 that's what you say. In the history of rock music, both were important in their own ways, and since the Pixies came first and Nirvana were admittedly influenced by them, I'd rather say they were a little more relevant. And cult following doesn't really mean a band is worse than other most-famous bands. The Velvet Underground were mostly a cult following when they came out; that means nothing
He does have a point, just in the fact that if you take any aspect of the song away you'd fuck the whole song. The uuuuuhhh's as @TheKittko put it was an essential part of the song, same as the drums, guitar and lead vocals, all of these aspects combined are what make it such a unique piece legendary music. Also whether they'd appreciate it or not, I'd imagine they'd agree. I mean it's like baking a cake, forget one ingredient, you fuck up the cake.
@enthnd03 I know this was three years ago, but what he was saying was that Weezer stole the this chord progression to make Say It Ain't So. I love Weezer, but it's true.
today's so called rock bands cannot even dream of pulling-off performances half as good as this. .the Pixies were among the pioneers of the glorious 90s music. .i feel queasy about using the term 'grunge' (damn the music industry/media always trying to fit anything they don't understand into a fucking box. .) for obvious reasons. .i think many like me. .who were in their teens (and older) during the early 90s would agree. .sure we missed the groovy 60s. .but we had Kurt Cobain :)
@tnable182 yeah what I like about Nirvana is that they were humble and never cared about success (and I think success itself is what ruined them). And you're right about the son-father thing, but see it this way: if there's no father you can't have a son. And the Pixies fathered way more bands than you can think of; The loud-quiet-loud dynamics were invented by them. Again, I'm not bashing Nirvana, I just suggest that you listen to more than just one Pixies song, you might find out they're great
@enthnd03 play the chords backwards and u will see ;) also check the "hey bassline and "only in the dreams" bassline, i like weezer, i think it is like a tribute
Except... there were the Violent Femmes, REM, Morphine, etc. So much underground in those days, lots to explore. Music isn't dead today, it just went into hiding lest the zombie "new music" find it and eat its guts out.
With your feet on the air and your head on the ground

Your head will collapse, and there's nothing in it

How did kurt cobain introduce you to them?

Look at them all, so much younger. His voice was really fresh.
Best version of Where is My Mind. Massive stuff.
SO happy to be able to watch this any time i want. Sometimes i'm actually happy we live in this digital age..
Damn! Thanks for the post of this rare version. Just look at them, each of them, ripping it apart for the music. Damn, they were so awesome. And Joey, the man with his guitar - Kim with those haunting vocals - wow!

its just the melody to the chord progression with a ton of distortion. so epic
Nice to argument about how one speaks, but this is the best video dokument of the beginning of one of the most influencial bands in the 80/90`s. So argue anywhere but not here. Thanx!

Nono don't argue with this. BEST BAND OF THE 80s'!!
i've seen black francis twice and both times were equally amazing
Hipnotizante, hermosa y adictiva
I am Jack's epic regression of music, comforting me in a time of trouble.
I have a huuuuge crush on 1986 Kim Deal lol The Pixies back then seemed incredible... Wow.
Oh my good! !! Quelle merveille je ne m'en lasse pas. J'adore avec brian de placebo.

I wish I was there that night.

I love Kim!!! Long live the Pixies
this is a tune and what GO OOONNNNN
Funny comments, they turned into an argument about how one speaks. The internets is amazing. Great tune.
I thank David Fincher that he introduced me to the Pixies......
That's what I like about Pixies. Same goes with a metalcore band called ''Enter Shikari''. They wear normal clothes and don't even have piercings. They are just simple.
Классная песня!!!!Супер!!!!!
top Tune!
By clicking on 'Like' doesn't quite equate my love of this song.
i love that black francis never really did anything to appease the rock star persona. normal shirt, normal haircut. lol he looks like some random guy they found at a bus stop on the way to the show.
The coolest band that ever didn't try to be.
fucking love the pixies man!
The best band, from the most under-rated decade, from the most laughed-at and ignored genre, in a pool of awesome bands in the same category.... Pixies. Not just for breakfast anymore.
brilliant
The most under-rated band ever. The underground bands of the 80's: Pixies, Violent Femmes, REM, Morphine, etc... so much good music buried in current movie soundtracks and commercials. The kids now-a-days have NO FUCKING CLUE what roots gave them the bands they enjoy today. A sad fucking shame.
Great song. I came to the song after I watched the excellent movie "Mr. Nobody".
so ahead of thier time.

For some reasion, this sounds even better with an exclamation mark in the title.
@Omnilegence

@jabuhrer1 That's good, it's always good to find another music lover on youtube!
Just look into the face of the creator of one of the best songs ever! and stay calm!
classic !
this isnt a cover this is the real deal
It sounds like the studio version wow
The Pixies! That is all.
Haha
Pixies you met me at a very strange time in my life.
Kim has left the Pixies - I am Jacks inflamed sense of rejection.
I am Jack 's eargasm.
@tnable182 that's what you say. In the history of rock music, both were important in their own ways, and since the Pixies came first and Nirvana were admittedly influenced by them, I'd rather say they were a little more relevant. ooooooooo-oooooooooo!!!!
Ahead of their time because they're what inspired everything that came after them.

@jimmyjnas RIGHT ON BROTHA!
@enthnd03
I know this was three years ago, but what he was saying was that Weezer stole the this chord progression to make Say It Ain't So. I love Weezer, but it's true.
Querras decir los pioneros del Rock alternativo y el Grunge

Fight Club! XD
шикарно,
today's so called rock bands cannot even dream of pulling-off performances half as good as this. .the Pixies were among the pioneers of the glorious 90s music. .i feel queasy about using the term 'grunge' (damn the music industry/media always trying to fit anything they don't understand into a fucking box. .) for obvious reasons. .i think many like me. .who were in their teens (and older) during the early 90s would agree. .sure we missed the groovy 60s. .but we had Kurt Cobain :)
Mind-blowing. Does anyone know where and when this is?
@torarne1 it's so underrated that it's known to be kurt cobain's main influence...
@tnable182 yeah what I like about Nirvana is that they were humble and never cared about success (and I think success itself is what ruined them). And you're right about the son-father thing, but see it this way: if there's no father you can't have a son. @soundofmusic94 yeah man, it's cool no problem
Шик и блеск.
@toribjork10 then who invented it? I'm not contentious, I'm just curious because I've always thought they did
@enthnd03 play the chords backwards and u will see ;) also check the "hey bassline and "only in the dreams" bassline, i like weezer, i think it is like a tribute
The coolest band that ever inspired nirvana :P
