Scotty, I'm looking at a 1976 Ford LTD for $3000 Canadian dollars. Its in good shape 100,000 miles and has zero rust. Should I buy it?
Hey scotty I'm considering buying an 06 Chevy silverado with the 5.3l v8 engine, with under 100,000 miles for 15,000 dollars, is that a good buy?
What do you think about a '95 Park Ave with 100k, never winter driven? Is this a reliable daily driver in Canada? I like the old style cruisers...
salty Chrysler owner count: 41
Scotty. 3 licensed drivers in my household. We have 3 Dodges and one Toyota. All 4 vehicles are registered, insured and driven. Should I send any of them to the scrapyard and if so, which ones?
I got 50,000 miles on my Chrysler. 10,000 miles were on a flatbed
LOL!
Im at 67k with a 2015 300S AWD and no problems yet, lucky i guess...
150k and counting on my 2010 300
Cars don't accrue mileage on a flatbed. Wheels are not moving.
Now that's funny!
I have a 2014 Chrysler 300 with 202k miles and the only issues I've had in 2 years of ownership was a thermostat going out due to the dealership filling my coolant and not bleeding the air out... and a wheel speed sensor going out due to stray cats in my neighborhood. I drive it normally and it's in great condition.
Scotty was fired by Chrysler Corp in the late 70s for not keeping his work area clean.
He probably was since he’s so biased
LOL...That I would Believe!!
😂😂😂😂
Allow me to provide a serious response to that! I used to know a guy who was a veteran of the Detroit auto industry, and he said that Chrysler plants had a reputation among auto workers for dirty and disorganized conditions (it was 1983 when he told me this- he had been working in that industry for 20 years)..
🤣🤣🤣
Never had an issue with my Chrysler. It's all about maintaining
@The car enthusiast - Vincent vg
@drhodes75 Exactly 💯💯💯
Nah
Chryslers are trash

When My buddy needed a few parts for a PT, I suggested the salvage lot. There was 16 of them with no collision damage, I could not freaking believe it. Wish Chrysler had decent build and quality. They made some nice looking cars!
I agree, that's why I've always had a soft spot for Chryslers! I loved my 07 Chrysler 300 when I owned it 5 years ago.
But it kept giving me a snowball effect of small problems....... So i sold it.....
But I did like & enjoy the car!
My first car tho was a 1988 Chrysler New Yorker with 103,000 miles & was like 18 years old at the time.....
& to this day, it was actually the most reliable car I have owned yet! fixed a few things for safety & didn't give me one problem after that!

Technically it had a Mitsubishi V6 engine tho.

They are reliable if you do buy one that doesn't have a Fiat platform or drivetrain. If you want to get a newer Chrysler get their actual Mopar products (by that I mean Charger, Challenger, Grand Cherokee, 300, etc) and not the Fiat based ones like the Compass or Renegade.
Yeah, they've always made great looking pieces of crap. Case in point; my 1996 Dodge Decrepit.
my 05 Chrysler 300C with the 5.7L hemi has been going strong for the past 13 years.
Yea i beat the hell out of it, i take it to the drag strip. Do standard preventable maintenance and these cars will run forever, but of course if you dont take care of something, you cant expect it to last.

I have a 1963 dodge dart with a slant 6. Changed it to a 2 barrel carb and chrome valve cover. Runs like a champ.
Those are bullet proof old cars. I'm into early chevy IIs . I have 2 63s. But we had darts growing up and I had a friend with a 65 225 slant 6 and they are a very solid car! The slant 6 is a tough engine.
In the 1960s, Chrysler made a decent engine and automatic transmission. The problems back then were the bodies rusting out.
@@supersixjones8905 The only problem I had with my slant 6 is that the distributor was mounted so low that going through high water would drown it.
Why is it running better with Chrome covers?
That slant six one of the best engines ever produced.

Looks are subjective. I don't care for it personally but mostly due to the interior.

I looked at the inside of a 300 they're generic and pretty ugly on the inside. Maybe I'm to used to interiors of Lexus. But I was disappointed Chrysler can do better
You are correct Scotty when you said the Chrysler has weak electronics. All the problems of the Ram pickups that my friends own are electronics related. I have friend that bought a brand new Ram dually diesel pickup and eventually had to give it back to the dealer under the lemon law. They couldn’t fix it. Great info and great video as usual.

He hates chrysler is an understatement...
No he just doesn't like unreliable
Most current Chrysler cars are still based off the Mercedes designs and engineering from when Daimler owned them. Fiat has yet to really tinker much with the Chrysler/Dodge lineup. Fiat are crap but Chrysler are still decent.
I guess all the reviewers have been paid off to say the products are junk. Yeah, they are using 15 year old designs in their new cars, awesome, where do I buy one?
I had a new 2008 Charger, put over 130k miles on it. Did nothing but regular maintenance. No problems. Remember the Charger and Chry 300 are based on the Benz E platform when MB owned Chrysler. My 3.6 V6 was still running strong when I sold it!
Hi Scotty, I have a 2010 chevy RV, when I fill up the gas tank, the gas nozzle clicks off and I cant fill my tank, then I go to another gas station and it works perfectly, what do think the problem is?
I've got two Jeeps and they are outstanding and take a helluva beating off road. They are solid. I can't speak for Fiat, but the Pentastar V6 in many Chrysler Jeep Ram vehicles is an outstanding engine.
Yes, the 3.6 liter is a great engine. NO Problems.
That slant-6 was a great bullet. They ought to bring back the REAL Dodge Dart.
You couldn't kill those slant 6s. I saw a lot of those go 200,000 miles or more back when 100k was high mileage. A lot of times the car would rust out before the engine quit! The 318s were very reliable as well. The big blocks were more fun..but they didn't last as long.
Facts
Those Chrysler slant 6 engines were the best. My first car was a 1968 Plymouth Valiant with a slant 6. I drove it until 1981 and then gave it to my dad when I bought a K car. He drove it 9 more years until he retired and moved to Florida. It had well over 200,000 miles on it and still ran like a charm. He sold it and I don't know how long it lasted after that. We never had any problems with it.
@@tomsawyer903 You walked away from a reliable car for a K CAR???!!!!! How did THAT work out for ya'?
We're on our second Chrysler Town and Country. This one has 163,000 trouble free miles. The last one, a 2010 model had about the same when it was in a crash and totaled. Up to that time it was a perfect car. Never an issue. Perhaps some Chryslers are bad but, neither of the two that I have owned. I did have a company car, a Durango that I drove the livin piss out of and it was a good car as well.
I have driven Challengers, Chargers and a 300 since 2008.
No major issues at all.

I have a 2017 ram V6 with 35k miles. It’s regular cab 2wd tradesman. It’s been very reliable. The pentastar is reliable 2016 and up; they have different better cylinder head designs. The ZF 8 speed is bulletproof, they don’t have Chrysler trans anymore. My best friend is a tech at Chrysler and i wouldn’t have got it had i not done proper research. I see him once a week and see the cars in there.... it’s normally older pentstar 2015 and older with the older design with issues. Hemi issue is the cam flattens out over time on some but this is fixed with a simple cam kit.
Scotty, my 95 Dodge Ram 2500, 12 valve P-Pump Cummins, NV4500 has reached 287,000 km. What oil should I use now that the break-in period is almost over?

I’ve owned a few charger hemi and one 2006 Magnum sxt fully loaded with a 3.5L high out engine. Definitely fun cars and I took care of them. Only thing I didn’t like was the RWD especially when I moved up north. I had to trend them for another car quickly. The only chargers and magnums I saw breaking down all the time were the ones with the 2.7L engines. They probably broke down because the engines and transmission were smaller and weaker for the size of the vehicles.

@@tleoipl37 Really depends on what you buy. If I'd buy a Chrysler product id only buy their V8s, and ideally a manual. Really most of the time, if you take care of your car it will last, even if its a fiat.
Scotty, What do you think of the 4.7 Toyota engine and it having the starter placed where it it? My 06 Tundra does not have a transmission dip stick should I add one?
Should I go for a 2014+ accord v6 or i4? I'm aware of most of the cons of a v6 (i don't mind the mpg). I'm still favoring it though, because the v6 is paired with Honda's 6 speed automatic transmission instead of it's in house cvt. I drive 60 miles every day through a lot of traffic so I don't want a manual in my daily.

Replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils with all ngk brand. Replaced the whole upper radiator hose set because it blew up on me because it's a cheap plastic (middle part that has a cap) but easy fix (I use Gates brand). And I installed the new throttle body with the updated part because the internal sensor was failing. The new oem (mopar brand) throttle body came with a brand new wiring connector. Wiring the new connector is necessary for the new throttle body. New throttle body makes my 200 more responsive. You have to qualify what era of Chrysler you are talking about. I owned a new '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee and had it for almost 17 years and 235k with just regular maintenance! Now the Mercedes ownership era wasn't as bad as Fiat's present day involvement. Jeep, Ram, and the big Hemi's haven't been hurt by Fiat. The rest of the line up not so much. I wish Chrysler could just stay American and lose the European owners.

With what you pay for a new vehicle, I personally believe you shouldn't have ANY problems, minor or major, until well after 100k miles, and really, just basic maintenance should get you to 200k miles. My opinion, though!
I got a 2010 chrysler town and country with almost 300 thousand miles on it and still runs great

Scott,
Love your videos but you're not totally correct on the Chrysler products. I bought a junkyard 300c, restored it and have been keeping it coast to coast for years.
I have stayed with the 300c because I can run it and rely on it for years. Lots of room and it is not a bad looking car.
Idk what y’all are talking about because my Chrysler has been just fine...
Yeah. No one that I know who has one has had any problems.
@ What it means is that you all are being sensational.
This guy has been a mechanic for 50 years....I'd take his word over chrysler being unreliable than someone who got lucky and or takes care of their car like most people should do but don't cause ohh it's too hard to work on a car...
My dads Chrysler 300C was pretty good except for the electronics but since it was a company car he didn't care about the maintenance. The 3.0 CRD was solid though.
You must be your local auto zones best customer then lol.
Hi, Scotty! In 2012, I bought a 2010 Corolla XRS with 2.4 liter and an automatic trans... it was practically a new car with only 1300 miles...

Let me be honest, I have a friend who owned 5 Chrystler 300 and he used them for long distances and he never complained .. he still owns one.
Anas Alwash the fact that he had 5 in a relatively short amount of time should speak volumes
Yashua Fradkin I mean they’ve only been out for like 15 years so it’s an assumption based on that. He obviously didn’t own any of them longer than that.
Yashua Fradkin definitely could have but hard to judge if a car is good if you only own it a couple of years. That’s all I’m saying. Not really time to put any kind of miles on it.
Friend's don't let friends drive Chryslers.
Don't Rev Up Your Unreliable Chrysler
Please dont!!!You'll be sorry.
my 2007 Chrysler 300 Srt8 with 177k not one issue yet.. crazy lol
"Revs sludged up 2.7 Charger"
That would be every Chrysler out there.
😂😂😂
Hey Scotty! I m considering on buying a used dodge charger srt8 with 35000km on it. It's a 2014 model. Do u suggest I buy this car? I 've always wanted to own an American muscle car. So those who have experience with such cars if you can give me advice would be great. Thanks
How did I just now find this channel???
This guy is great!
My 2006 Chrysler 300 still runs good 😂it only has 456k miles on it and still runs good only problem is that Scotty isn’t getting paid by Chrysler 🤷🏻♂️
What have you changed on that car?
@@kdog773 real question is, "what hasn't he changed?".
I'm guessing you are paid by them?...
Hows it running now cause I have an 06 300 as well with 127k miles and I've always done the maintenance on it. And I swear every 2 to 3 months I have to take it to the shop for something.....
@@blewflag9928 what engine you got
I have a 2018 Dodge Durango RT and honestly love it! Spacious, enough HP, decent MPG, and looks great. I mean how could one complain?
When it breaks down.... With all due respect it's a 2018 car essentially brand new... You shouldn't be having problems with a vehicle that new. Give it a few years, it will start to fall apart. Modern dodge products are unreliable.
You just got it tho ...
When looks (quantity) over quality sells . It’s usually bad
I don't get it I am at 308,000 miles on my 06' Chrysler T&C. I see them on Craigslist with high 250+ milage. I know guys who do them for taxi's with high mileage also.
All I own is Chrysler’s not because every other company has failed me one way or another. Every car I own has over 98k mile grand caravan, 165k mile Jeep wrangler, 45k mile Jeep Wrangler off-road toy, know people with 230k Aspen, over 200k concord, I had 2 first gen Durango’s that lasted forever, these are just my experiences and I have a ton of others, In my opinion Chrysler’s makes good vehicles, while they sucked in the 80s and early 90s I think they make very good high quality cars now. This is just my opinion.
I got a 2010 300 limited with the 3.5L and the only problem i have is finding parts to upgrade. Im in the process of doing a weight reduction, adding a big turbocharger after upgrading the cam, pistions, valves, coil packs, fuel injectors modded to handle high octane gasoline, and upgrade the brakes, suspension, and get some drag radials on it that are hidden with a widebody kit. And ofc ill upgrade the transmission, drive shaft, and the deferential. But i dont know what i should start with any ideas please on what i should do first on that list
Scotty, I have a 2012 Ford Mustang 3.7 V6 6-speed auto with 80,000 miles. The atf was changed at 35,000 miles due to a TSB to replace the molded leadframe. When should I next change the transmission fluid?
Right about now. Drain and fill, not a flush. Change the filter, too, if it's easy.
It was only a matter of time before this video came out.
One of my favourite cars, and a great car to drve, is a mid 1990s Chrysler Lebaron. Those were great cars. So smooth and luxurious riding, even though they didn't cost alot.
Hey Scotty!, Cruise control on my 03 grand marquis stopped working. I replaced the cruise buttons on the steering wheel as well as cruise cut off switch in the brake pedal. Still doesn't work. What can be wrong? How to test?
Watching from Ireland 🇮🇪 great channel scotty 💯👌🏻😎
My brother bough a 2014 ram with the hemi new, drove 100k in 3 years then rolled it. Never did anything to it other than oil change tires and breaks. So he bought another new one.
I had a 2011 v6 challenger, put a 3.90 gear in it from a junkyard 300, put a tuner and a 150 shot of nitrous through it and ran it for 3 years on the stock engine and transmission. Nothing at all wrong with that engine and it was one of the most fun and reliable cars I have ever owned. I NEVER broke down and it had one issue (window regulator) in the entire time that I owned it. It was running the day I got rid of it as well with over 150k miles and not a damn thing wrong. I changed the fluids including transmission religiously and always made sure that the intake and heads were kept very clean. It is all in how you choose (or not) to maintain your vehicle.
Hi Scotty, I know you get a lot of question but I would really like your opinion about buying a Transit type van with a Diesel engine which one is the best, Ford, Mercedes or Dodge? How about towing with one too.
I’m looking for a car to have fun with? Not to beat it up or anything i want an opinion on a Chrysler 300/dodge challenger is it reliable or should I run away
Dont buy a used infiniti or ford taurus sho
Drive what you like they all have problems. I see all of them in my shop. It comes down to how you maintain them . I have a ram 2500 with over 800,000 mile still going strong and a 2006 sebring convertible 2.7 with 180,000 on it only thing done is 1 alternator 1 starter and oil change and spark plugs . Everyone bad mouths the 2.7 but mines been flawless
And i am sure that your 2500 has a cummins
Stanglife 97Cobra I bet so too that’s the only good thing associated with Rams. All their gassers need a rebuild after 150k
Rev up your chrysler😂😂😂
Just don't rev it too much, you'll pop a head gasket.
*engine explodes*
*jesus comes down and asks “why are you volunteering yourself to hell?”*
@@85square lmfao
aaaaand the heads are blown
Would you recommend an 08 Jeep liberty for 1500. Needs a motor and I can get one with 108,000 miles for 1500. Is the car worth it?
Scotty what do you think about a 2012 Chrysler 300 Limited RWD. Do you think I should be buying it?
I own a 2016 Chrysler 300. I enjoy it. Not fast, I don't have the Hemi, but it's a very good ride and has very good comforts. Also I owned a 1986 Cutlass Ciera that I purchased back in 2014. It had 60k miles on it. Proved it with carfax. Its always nice to find something like that.
Tell this to my 2006 2.7 MIND YOU chrysler 300 with 225,334 miles on it that runs nice and smooth 😎
Scotty I’m thinking about buying a 2015 Infiniti QX60 what do you advice?
Scotty, what's a good thing to get inspected while mounting new tires and brakes?
I have a 2009 Chrysler 300c 5.7L Hemi with 220,000 Miles. It's a reliable car!
The 5.7 hemi is the one thing Chrysler did right.
You must have never revved it up 😂😂😂
@@musclebone7875 Over at the RT/SRT forums they rev them pretty nicely and love smoking tires apparently.
@@memphistiger4647 yup until you throw a rod like my cousin did with his RT 😂😂😂
I have a 2004 grand caravan 3.3 with 230K on it, it's been a good vehicle.
Great video Scotty! I’m an aspiring mechanic so your videos are very interesting.
hello and thanks for the support!
Thankyou Scotty!

Silver N Black Mopar Ooh sorry, I forgot the definition of ‘triggered’ was to reply to someone whom replied to the original comment. LOL.
Silver N Black Mopar Oof what an insult
Hey Scotty what do you think about the Toyota Crown Majesta around 2010 with the 4.3 or 4.6 ltr v8 is it a good reliable car?
Hi Scotty, I'm thinking of buying a kia sorento. What do you think of a kia suv?
