10 years have passed and still, one of the most beautiful videos I have seen. The music, the people, the colors, the depth of field, everything is just beautiful. There is something really special about this video, magic!
Thank you Eli! I really enjoyed making it and editing it.. I kinda miss these days.. My creativity level has changed a bit.. Looking to get back at it.. I work on big movies and big commercials, but stuff like this was just fun. All the best and thank you again.
Sometime in 2012 I ran into this video. This video sparked the desire to get into videography and creating content. I now use a Canon C100 mark ii. It's been an awesome journey so far.
@marXthespotfilms. I already have the 7 sets of SLR ZE Zeiss Primes. I'm in the process of buying the Red Epic and CP.2 are the perfect fit for me! I love my 5D and the Zeiss combo it's perfect combo to me.
I'm a cinema student, and I'm following the cinematographer carrer. Yes, me and my friend have Cinestyle installed on all cameras (5D, 60D and 7D). We also have 3 lenses: 24-70mm, 18-105mm and 70-200mm. I just want to know if the Zeiss Compact Prime is worth the price, if it really gives a huge amount of quality to the images comparing to other lenses.
Sometimes you need a wrench, sometimes you need a screwdriver.. Every tool has its place.. The quality/build/interchangeability/cine gear/color matching of these lenses is why I choose them..
Very nice images. My question is: what is the difference between the CP2 lenses and the regular zeiss photo lenses, if these are just re wrapped photo lenses. What do you notice different in quality? thanks.
Nice video and camera. I have been wanting the Mark II for sometime. Now the Mark III will be out soon. Should I wait or do you guys think it can't get any noticeably better than this beast they call a 5D Mark ii ? The price is starting to drop too.
Nice shots, looking very cinematic! I am thinking of buying a Zeiss lens lens for my Canon 5D. Only 1 question in certain shots are pretty strong vignettes why is that? Which lens from zeiss would you recomment to me?
@marXTheSpotFilms I finally got my CP.2 Lenses after a month waiting. Too bad the 21 produce too much in-frame vignette on redrock's matte box but i love the optics, they made my old L series lenses look so flat lol
@cluelessfather Nope, just the 3 way color corrector in FCP.. Honestly, I really spent less than 20 seconds color correcting.. I just brought the blacks down.. The blue is just the way the sky was that day.. The vignetting was a combo of the mattebox and do-nut in the mattebox.. (not done intentionally)
Thanks for the video. I was thinking about these and now I'm sold! Do you mind letting us know what lens you used at 2:42? Performing great in low light there. Thanks for your time.
They are under $4000 per lens, and are the only professional cine lenses in existence that cover the full frame sensor and have interchangeable mounts (PL, Nikon, etc..) Price is a relative term.. If you are a professional and need a professional tool for the job, you get the tool.. If you are a person that dabbles in the industry, then you get the tool that suits you.. Sorry for the rant.. Just stating my point..
@MontesaTV good luck! they are great lenses, but everything serves a purpose that is needed.. so if you DONT need them, dont get them.. it is possible to achieve the "look" with less expensive lenses
@lkorver wish I had some magic to tell you.. It was all shot in the neutral setting.. Much better to shoot neutral then change whatever you need in post..
They are different from still lenses in many ways including the build, iris, glass, color match... Im sure there are more if you goto the Zeiss website
@okeyoku With a 28mm lens it's harder to notice the depth of field focus look I'm sure you are trying to go for.. Shoot at T2.1, use ND's (or change your shutter to whatever gets you wide open if you dont have ND's just to test) Show me some footage.. Why did you buy one lens?
Minimal, as in spent a few min crushing the blacks.. I will try and find some ungraded footage when I have the time, unfortunately I don't even know if I still have it.. It was just a test and we are talking over a year ago..
@freezazoid Freezazoid, I would do your best to get your hands on these lenses. Basing a purchase on what you see on CZcams is not the most wise.. Also, these are cine lenses, you can't compare their features to a canon lens.. I will agree with you that canon glass is great. Thanks for the post..
@alexpho Yeah true, i got the same question. Or is it a lens side effect? Probably a vignette from post production i think. I wouldn't be happy with the idea of buying a lens that costs $3,900 making vignettes by it self. But Zeiss lenses are from the best!
@victormc49 Congrats! You might want to look into the chrosziel super wide matetbox now that you have this great set of lenses.. The one I have is rod mounted or clip on (114mm diameter) so no fussing with rubber rings! It's really nice and liteweight! It's expensive though.. Check a website called 16x9 Inc then call them for info, then call Abel cine tech to get. A price, then tell 16x9 to match it or just get it from Abel.. Good luck!
@mrslippery66 Well Mr. Slippery, I'm thankful that work has been good to me and has enabled me to further my arsenal of tools to do my job.. remember that was your only question, so you can't ask anymore.. (just kidding) but I'm not giving you my credit card info... Unless you ask nicely, that is...
@overhere2000 You've never lived in Florida have you? Overhere2000, that was the sky and light conditions that day... As realistic as it gets.. If you are a professional you should be able to tell that on your own when you look at the skin tones, if I were to color correct it "blue" then you would have been watching a bunch of smurfs.. Thanks for the comment..

Great kit, nice edit, fantastic result. Give us more of this :)
Looks great! Thanks for posting, these lenses caught my eye recently and it's nice to see them put to such great looking use.
looks brilliant the canon 5D is awesome thanks for the upload
beautiful shots!

This Looks Great! Looks Like A Film To Me.
DREAM RIG. i want this cine lens bad!!
AMAZING.
@njengaed would have to choose two! the 21mm and 85mm
Glad you love it :-) The video was filmed in Dania Beach Florida on the pier.
looks great. love to know your scene settings?
Interesting and cool video
Thank you! 😊

thanks.
Is there a slight vignette around the corners ( post production? ) in the beginning or is it the lens?
@DelGeeZee its a good choice!
would you suggest if i dont want the vignette, then i just dont use Redrock's Mattebox ?
Nice video and camera. I have been wanting the Mark II for sometime. Now the Mark III will be out soon. Should I wait or do you guys think it can't get any noticeably better than this beast they call a 5D Mark ii ? The price is starting to drop too.
it looks like you are using a Magic Bullet treatment or similar. Do you mind sharing what you used to give it the look you have?
Nice shots, looking very cinematic! I am thinking of buying a Zeiss lens lens for my Canon 5D. Only 1 question in certain shots are pretty strong vignettes why is that? Which lens from zeiss would you recomment to me?
ah man i would kill for such a lens =)
@bootfruity not too familiar with the 7D.. I'm pretty sure it would be the same though.. Definitely do some tests yourself to find out..
how can you protect this beautiful lens? with a 114mm UV? the big diameter stops me from getting it.
@marXTheSpotFilms I finally got my CP.2 Lenses after a month waiting. Too bad the 21 produce too much in-frame vignette on redrock's matte box but i love the optics, they made my old L series lenses look so flat lol
@mixalisk19 Sure, they are EF mount lenses.
I realy like to see it in full hd in max quality...
do you have any link to download it?
@marXTheSpotFilms would your suggestions be different for a 7D?
well done
@mixalisk19 It's an EF (canon) back, so it should work with any EF mount..
@BensleyH used, 21, 28, 35, and 85mm.. The 18 will vignette on the full frame sensor..
have any comparison with Canon CN-E 24mm T1.5 L F Cine Lens?
@cluelessfather Nope, just the 3 way color corrector in FCP.. Honestly, I really spent less than 20 seconds color correcting.. I just brought the blacks down.. The blue is just the way the sky was that day.. The vignetting was a combo of the mattebox and do-nut in the mattebox.. (not done intentionally)

Love the Video! Where was this pier located? Thanks for sharing
What do you think a bout Blackmagic cinema camera?
Thank you :-)
Filmed with sharpness right down, sharpened in post??
awesome, did you do the color grading?

Was that done with a 50mm CP2 or what focal lenght did you use?
@overhere2000 not the lens, its the Mattebox
How did you get such good quality on 360p?
hey can u pleas tell me what program u use to edit your videos.. for PC ?
I think this looks nice.
@db1violin thank you :-) dbviolin is correct with the song
any post-pro or what color profile you used?
standard?
What range lens are you using to shoot?
@marXTheSpotFilms thanks a lot :)
@MontesaTV good luck! they are great lenses, but everything serves a purpose that is needed.. so if you DONT need them, dont get them.. it is possible to achieve the "look" with less expensive lenses
what lens is this ?
I have the 21 and 28 and there are times you want each one..
Is it worth it to buy a 50mm compact prime for the 7D?
@ullahshariff yes.. very minimal though..
My fault in uploading it at 720.. not youtube
what picture style do you use?
@CommCraftsmenGroup most was with the 21, 28, and 85
i have yet to see it
are they compatible to canon 550d t2i?
@lkorver wish I had some magic to tell you.. It was all shot in the neutral setting.. Much better to shoot neutral then change whatever you need in post..
Very Nice Work!!! this song??? thx
Do you use Final Cut 7? Btw, did you add vignette effects in post?
is this lens a PL mount?
is this really only in 720p or it's just youtube? thanks.
could you please share some RAW footage... so we could get a better idea of the lens/camera combination ?
thanks!
They are different from still lenses in many ways including the build, iris, glass, color match... Im sure there are more if you goto the Zeiss website
is this colour corrected?
@atadair That was the 85mm..
WoW!
@alexpho I should not answer instead of the uploader but the CP2 series are made especially for FF captor without vignetting.
Whats the song?
i think this is the camera that i want to get
@okeyoku With a 28mm lens it's harder to notice the depth of field focus look I'm sure you are trying to go for.. Shoot at T2.1, use ND's (or change your shutter to whatever gets you wide open if you dont have ND's just to test) Show me some footage.. Why did you buy one lens?

thats it dude.. you don't even need to turn the camera on.. the lens does it all..
@mrslippery66 My money tree of course, where do you get yours from?
Which CP did you use? 18m? 35mm?
@marXTheSpotFilms the footage is sublime but the blue is just a little bit "too much".
are you using any filters ?
@freezazoid Freezazoid, I would do your best to get your hands on these lenses. Basing a purchase on what you see on CZcams is not the most wise.. Also, these are cine lenses, you can't compare their features to a canon lens.. I will agree with you that canon glass is great. Thanks for the post..

song:Beatlegras singing Blackbird
Nice video. Is your job film making because the lens itself is out of my budget lol.
WOW! :-)
@choweggtart Minor, very minor cc on like two shots and it was less coloring and more getting a deeper black.. Most is not cc'd at all..
What do you need it for? If you are not doing CINE STYLE with a focus puller, I wouldn't spend the money right now.
@mrslippery66 Usually from the ATM machine.
21, 28, 85mm
With it was that easy Ryan.. Thanks though!

@ziimmster I'm use a mac to edit, sorry..
@victormc49 Not at all, just pay attention unlike I was, I was having to much fun with my new lenses! Hahahha
It's the sensor on your camera.
@db1violin Blackbird by Beatlegras
No need to kill, you can buy them!! ;-)
