Underrated creator. I absolutely love your Life is Strange game’s analysis. You’re very right about other installments not living up to the original’s impact. I think that the studios and directors never realized the potential of this series, and chose to mire it down in mediocrity instead of approaching it with utmost care. I think that looking at Life is Strange as a template to tell teen/adolescent-related stories is a waste of potential and not at the core of the game’s philosophy. Whichever it may be, I think it would’ve been better if they tried to explore the nature of “the powers” with each installment. Imagine if they gave LIS2 a “Chronicle” type of treatment; setting Daniel as a certain villain while still playing on the inevitability of the outcome regardless of choice. Imagine if the third LIS was about a gruff, old and weary detective trying to investigate the “Strange” incidents of the first and second game as well as giving us insight that it’s becoming reoccurring events in parts of the world, while playing around the detective’s want to believe in the strange given a troubled history with faith. Keeping the anthological approach but at the same time staying within the same universe and telling stories that usually represent life periods. I know I’m self-inserting or reflecting at this point, and I’m not saying that my approach would’ve been successful for the franchise, but there’s gotta be a better treatment for Life is Strange.
And the funniest thing is that LiS 2 was the complete opposite - just after I played it it was my least favourite LiS game, I didn't connect much with the story, but now after 2 years have passed and I thought about it more I think it's the best one
I think the biggest difference in LiS1 and TC is Max is essentially emotionally stable and needs to mature. Alex is not. Alex is emotionally repressed and where Max's anxieties are with her throughout the game and the nightmare scene brings them all together, Alex's emotional trauma has led her to suppressing her emotions to the point where the only way she can emotionally connect is through the emotions of others. Her nightmare sequence is more of a psychological breakthrough where she's breaking past the emotional barriers to discover where her pain originally came from and actually learn to express her own emotions about those events rather than just be a mirror for other people's emotions. It's also why she didn't have a stronger emotional reaction when Gabe died - she was closed off from her emotions and tried to repress them rather than experience them.
Very good life is strange essay video. Objective view, great analisys, great montage, what can I say, I agree with everything you said! It was pleasure to listen to it.
I can't even put to words what was so good about this game for couple first weeks and I don't think it was because I played it for the first time and it was fresh, because I played LiS 2 for the first time just before True Colors came out, (I was prolonging playing it for a long time)
I dislike true colors so much, probably more than Life is Strange 2 and that says something. LiS 2 at least tried to do something new and interesting, and even though it failed miserably, I’d take that over this poor attempt at recapturing the magic of the original life is strange. I agree with pretty much everything you said, especially about the lifeless environments and characters. Through its main and side characters, life is strange dealt with friendship, love, growing up, nostalgia, bullying, grief, guilt, mental illness and the inescapability of consequences all at once. And what does true colors deal with? A whole lot of nothing. But my biggest gripe with the game is probably still the insultingly bad super power. The whole concept is dank, I don’t need a super power telling me that Steph is sad when I can see that she’s crying and melancholically staring out of a window. But in execution it’s even worse. It doesn’t contribute anything to the story or gameplay and basically just creates plot holes like you said. It’s cheap and honestly feels like another case of "well the first game had a superpower so this game needs one too."
I cannot comprehend why ANYONE would sacrifice Arcadia. Chloe was literally meant to die. Joyce deserved to live more. And Stella, Dana, etc. And all of the other kind characters. Chloe's actions with Nathan brought on her end. The other characters did not bring on their end.
True colors despite being hollow is still the closest I have ever felt to the first game and in all honesty I actually prefer true colors more I like the characters more in true colors. I like Alex way more than Max and same with Steph as a love interest than Chloe however chloe is one of my favorite characters in the series
Im late to the party but, excellent video, I did like true colors if im honest but I agree with you on everything and yes, Lifes strange 1 is definitely my favorite and the most enjoyable experience. True colors is not bad but its also not amazing.
But after months and now even 2 years have passed, I think it's the worst one (but not bad, because all LiS games are amazing, just some are better than other)
I haven’t played LiS 2 or True Colors but saw that the “Wavelengths” DLC had fookin’ pride merch & pronoun use. Cue major sigh & eye roll from me. I can’t go anywhere or watch anything w/o that šhît being shoved in my face🙄 The original LiS knew how to tell a story w/out pushing a message.
You told Gabe about Ethan going to the mines so why later on after you tell him about your powers and told him ethan was going to the mines and he said "why didn't you tell me this earlier?"
The weakest entry of the series yet. Not a bad game, but way too short, the bad guys were not surprising and all in all the characters were all just „meh“. Nobody to emotionally bond to, because every character appeared just a few times and was very clearly not real at all, just playing their role.

Love it when they dance in the beginning with no music, it's just wood and footsteps
seeing charlottes anger and putting it in perspective like that, with the music, tension, colors... extremely powerfull. im truly just speechless

Hey man, well done on these videos. I think what you're doing is truly valuable. Keep it up.

“Watch your feet now, it’s getting windy”

Still can't believe they spoiled Gabe's death in the trailer, this was quite the surprise in my blind play through
The color aura is a reference to the animation movie "Inside Out"
all life is strange games giving us a full immersive graphic adventure with more choices and paths.

Max will always be my favorite protagonist ;;
The thing is, after I've played True Colors (couple first weeks after playing) I thought this is the best LiS game
True colors despite being hollow is still the closest I have ever felt to the first game and in all honesty I actually prefer true colors more I like the characters more in true colors. Alex has to live with the death of her brother, father and mother. knowing the fate of her family was so hard to watch
Looks great but Max and Chloe are the legends🔥🔥🔥🙌
so when’s the next game coming out
I don't know what spell does this game put on player, but it's effective only for a short period of time
So did you put different clips from different gameplays into one video?
Im late to the party but, excellent video, I did like true colors if im honest but I agree with you on everything and yes, Lifes strange 1 is definitely my favorite and the most enjoyable experience. True colors is not bad but its also not amazing.
This game singlehandedly showed my why pre-ordering games is a terrible idea.
A true moment to capture memories
"aw man, this just got real" CUTIE
Why didn't Alex say she was shot?
It's really curious how all this works
Been waiting for this!
Completed arkanoid. 😎
we collecting infinity stones with this series?
Come back rye rye we miss you :( or at least i miss you
Yo Alex Chen is an empath!!!!!!!!!
Inside out: THE VIDEO GAME
Ummm... ok...nice cinematics but where is the actual gameplay ??
That looks awesome
sun breathing sun halo dance dragon
But after months and now even 2 years have passed, I think it's the worst one (but not bad, because all LiS games are amazing, just some are better than other)
*So is this a game or a 🎥?*
I got to get this game

Boring 🙄 there are no hard choices because there are no stakes or risk of characters dying. These new developers don’t have guys like that in 1 and 2
sounds boring but fine ill get it
so much time in this game was just wasted with filler, god
Games like these in my opinion aren't worth 80 bucks. You play the game once and beat it and you won't want to play the game ever again lol.
It keeps getting worse

Looks interesting but potentially super corny. Is it?
O pior de toda a saga
lis 2 was amazing? wtf are u on
Woke
