Cheap Charging Wires Are Destroying Your iPhone...

- I explain why cheap charging wires are killing your iPhone, and why you should never use them.
You should only use brand named MFI certified charging wires such as belkin, anker, cellhelmet, and ampsentrix.
Cheap charging wires you buy for under $10 are not MFI certified even if they say they are in the title.
One of the wires I bought in the video stated that it was an “MFI certified” charging wire. Cutting them open revealed that they were in fact not.
If you keep using these cheap chargers, it causes stress on the iPhone’s tristar chip and it will eventually fail. The Tristar chip in iPhone tells the iPhone to charge so once this fails, your iPhone motherboard will need to be repaired which costs a lot of money. Don’t risk damaging your phone over paying $5 extra for a good charging wire.

Don't you just love how apple could've so easily just put the protection inside their phone, but instead to make a couple of bucks the put it in their certified charger. Where as on my galaxy device with USB-C there is no such issues.
Android phones are trash.
@@eri1382 Someone needs a little nappy poo.
Sounds like a filthy uneducated communist just popped up to once again take everything out of context. To whine and justify his pathetic existence.
You can't even spell capitalism correctly. That shows the extent of your education thus destroys any weak argument that you may propose in response, child.
LMAO
I agree with you though. Apple really could have put it in the phone without being greedy douche bags about it. Glad I have an Android.
Greed supported wholeheartedly by the apple cult. 👌
I agree completely.
I feel that Apple makes great products (in general), but I will not own one. My reason is what I see as their customer unfriendly policies, such as this cable, and their uncontrollable urge to have some degree of control over your content. Also, the absence of flexible and controllable widgets is just stupid.
As a corporate I.T. kinda guy, I feel that Apple has some similarities to Oracle, who makes the user pay through the nose for every little thing. Some parts of Oracle are incompatible with other products, and everything needed to make changes is concealed from end users; you must either hire a full time Oracle certified database manager, or pay an Oracle certified consulting agency, which cost us about $10,000 per month.
I see that I have strayed off topic a bit, but really, I am eminently enraged at both companies!
It's another way that Apple tries to be proprietary. Like Liam Hill said, they could of put the chips inside of the phone instead in the cable.
Isn't the chip usually inside the charging brick itself?
It does have the protection inside. I don't know if this dude is telling the truth, for all I know he's making all this up because well.. people do that I guess? But even if you spoof the chip and forcibly shove a massive current into your phone, it'll work just fine. Probably better than a cheap Samsung (not android, just samsung, who doesn't even put brackets on their connectors for the cheap phones).
@@krislarsen6546 That's not a chip, the adapter (brick) is a tightly packed device intended for voltage regulation. It takes the massive amount of electricity that the outlet puts out, then it keeps a bit of that stored and discharges the rest. The amount that it keeps stores and is able to safely transport using the cable is measured in watts (W). That's all an adapter does. The phone regulates how much of that enters. All devices have a seperate amps/volts recommendation and charging them with chargers specific to those numbers will be the best for their battery health, no matter what. That being said, the second best option is to multiply the two (V*A) and get Watts. If the Watts then match up the charger, the device can usually function the same. These are however, newer batteries with newer devices that have some super wacky hi-tech amazeballs charge regulation built-in. Things just won't have much of an impact on your battery, even if you shove a USB killer in or something.
I would like to see if this is actually a problem if you use a quality power supply. Somebody should hook up an oscilloscope to see if there’s actually voltage spikes when plugging in the power supply, turning on a computer, etc. Because Apple is known for being incredibly manipulative with its designs and I wouldn’t be surprised if this voltage regulation circuitry isn’t actually necessary if you’re not using a crappy wall adapter.
This has happened to me on my iPad and is still actively ruining my sister’s iPhone. I thought before that it was the bad chargers that stop it from working, and this just confirmed my suspicions. Thank you
I've been using a cable I brought at a grocery store 3 years ago with my iPhone SE 1st gen to this day. Hasn't fried it yet... either I'm lucky, or it apparently it's somehow MFI certified despite being a incredibly generic brand cable. Or it's also possible the adapters I've used with it are actually of good quality & as such have voltage regulation in them in the first place.
All adapters do, that literally is what an adapter does. Adapters don't do anything else other than that.
Yes. But there are some dodgy adapters on the market which don't do a great job of regulating output voltage.
As a rule of thumb, output voltage of a charger should be rated ± 5% at any given moment. That means quarter a volt above or below (assuming rated one is 5v), the cleaner, the better. Circuitry of your phone should be able to handle it just fine. But what if your charger produces very dirty power, for example, if there are 20 ms spikes of a whole volt below rating each given second? That ain't a good power supply.
Yeah but your battery lasts 4 hours lol
Me uses old Apple cable. “ this accessory not supported” humm
Feels like this is an Apple issue. I get the point about the cheap wire .. but this feels like something that should be regulated by some chip inside the phone .. and not dependent on the charging cable. But hey .. it's why I am broke and Apple is beyond loaded! 😂
No to be honest I think this should be regulated by the charging brick
@@krislarsen6546 that's stupid as fuck
I can wait to see my phone fix 😊I just send in today yay I love what u do finally someone who understands my needs yay 😅
I don’t cheap out on my charging cables, I’ve never had a problem with cables frying my phone, but the cheaper stuff tends to break far quicker than more expensive nylon weave cables
Yikes! I didn't know all this!!! thanks for the info
Very intriguing indeed loved this video
Great info!
Great video. Do these wires that are certified get made in the US? Also why do you have to use the discord sounds man. I kept looking at my chat to see if someone was logging in lol
Is there a way to verify whether or not the chips are legit?
Great info. I'll buy tigris/tristar IC for every iphone model. 😁
I recover computer hard drive data.
I've been wanting to recover data from bad phones also. How did you learn to do what you do? Any suggestions of resources that I can study or learn from?
Hello, I’m new to your channel, I love your works though! Please o want to ask, is it possible to fix/repair a faulty external hard drive that takes time to read and doesn’t allow files in or out
Only the cable is the issue or should you use the adaptor too?
Hi, I have a question, I have a gaming laptop it's a gate way that is about a year old. Its screen Parshley went and when I set it to the company (which was $50 to ship) it came back working for about 5 days then the entire screen went. I have emailed Gate way multiple times in the last few months, but I have got no replies.
in the meantime, I have hooked it up to a TV, but it would be great to have it working again as a laptop.
I love seeing your videos there great. 😀
-THUNDERBOLT
Does the same apply to iPads (7th gen)? Thank you❣
do you think anker is a good brand?
Dope video bro
2:13 i’ve been trying to discover what are those chips, and from what I found the smaller with 3 leads is a p-channel mosfet, while the biggest with 6 leads looks like some sort of p-channel mosfet driver.
Since the Tristar is a chip that manage what type of accessory is connected (it can even enable serial communication for the DCSD cable), I think that fake charging cables kill the Tristan ic because, instead of sending a code to identify them as a charger, they send voltage to the chip to perform a power glitch attack and make it think is a legit charger.
Hey MDrepairs want to ask that if you can repair an old Panasonic phone model SC3
My mum bought a off brand apple charger set for 90 dollars it came with an adapter and a charging cable. Now first of all that is so expensive just for an adapter and a charging cable but not only that the off brand cable doesn’t work on any other adapters besides the one the company sells but you can legit buy a apple adapter and charger for 60 dollars and the apple charging cable can connect to any adapter AND SHE CAN BUY A EXTRA METER LONG APPLE CHARGER AND IT WILL STILL BE CHEAPER FOR ONLY 80 DOLLARS long story short just buy original products and don’t get scammed
Is a Native Union charger good for you?
You explained it perfectly!
Shilling for Apple i see.
A voltage regulator that protects against surges and spikes is one of the simplests circuits / ICs to make. So unless these fake cables only _pretend_ to have a voltage regulator in them (ie just a functionless piece of plastic stuck in there) then there should be no issue using aftermarket charging leads and chargers.
What is probably going on is that Apple is deliberately and unnecessarily making their devices intolerant to anything but their own certified and way overpriced accessories.
Why do no other manufacturer's phones, tablets, laptops etc have this problem? Consider that for a minute.
Hi can you repair mi x11 pro motherboard. If yes please reply
Thank you , I really like this content
Can we just test this thing out from these two cables
- The fast charging thing
- Voltage spike
As a subscriber I request to make video on this
I have a iPhone 6 that kinda got bent and can’t recover my photos. I live in Canada and could really use your help. Could I email you and possibly see if it’s repairable? All the shops here say they can’t. But I watch some videos on iPhone repair and see worse off phones
I have a serious question, I have an iPod from 2011 they the password was changed and still keeps me from trying to access it. Is there anyway to bypass the password or recover all the photos from it?
He'llo sir
I do also have this problem with my pendrive
It's not working and it does have so much data of mine
Can u help me please
I played football at the University of Colorado and me and my teammates would go to the Frat parties and we would say we're coming in and that was the end of story
Do you think you could fix a ecu out of a car?
This doesn’t matter if the over current protection is in the brick right?
😂😂
Why don't they make the chargers w/a ground prong, do you know?
Is there for Samsung's phoner is a seam situation ?
Only use good quality switch mode power supplies, got it.
nest time, can you check the five below chargers because I buy those for my children
Mine says its fast charging cable it does the job but my phone keeps on draining i barely can use it the whole day... im planning to buy the official apple charger to see if the issue is the charger or the battery..
Man you know your stuff
what about wireless charging?
Does this count on Iphone 11?
One time I couldn't find a cable to charge my M1 Ipad pro. Took a cheap USB-C Cable and plugged it in. It did not work through my magic keyboard which was weird so I plugged it into my ipad port directly. 5 minutes later I smell something and see the charger smoking. I pulled the cable out and it was literally on fire!!! So I presume apple also does this for their USB-C cables? Why put the mechanism in the cable and not the device itself? Foolishness. Apple did this intentionally, I am not speaking from my ass either. I almost lost my ipad, it wouldn't charge for two days straight, luckily enough it somehow repaired itself before I had to tear it apart to fix it.
Is the iPhone charger from a brand called Oraimo safe to use?
Rule of thumb, if the wire is less than $10 it def doesn’t have the MFI certified board. The MFI chips cost $3.5 alone from apple.
What about wirelessly
The bcm should be enough protection because it is on android
Voltage regulators can be designed into the phone like in all Android phones- but no, Apple needs MFI certification to make more money. Apple can't even get their USB C stable in their Iphone 15 series, as though USB-C is new tech...duh.
Not only fry your iphone if first plugged in car before starting, it fried my brand new CD mini cable tv flip screen player too .
Are you still fixing phones? I have a phone of my daughters that every place in my city says can't be fixed. The screen went black after only 6 months. It has VERY important pictures on it of my grand babies birth. Can you help?
Why would they put the voltage regulator in the wire instead of the phone itself? Sounds like one MORE reason to not buy any kind of iPhone.
If that tiny tiny tiny tiny chip can protect your phone, that means Apple is negligent in not putting it in the phone. Not sure that I believe the entire narrative though, I charged my phone for years with all sorts of crap wires.
Hi bro, what revolution is your iphone
My original cable is not broken, hence, the o.s. starts up, when the charger is plugged in, but still the lightning icon doesn’t appear on the battery icon. So why is that? It counts plug ins, to make me buy new cables? Why is there a circuit at the connector? All it has to do is connect power. If there need to be data sent over the same cable, it figure this out otherwise, than with a complete circuit. Right. Why does the cable have a circuit with microchips? Why do these cables break anyway. Ever had a broken cable on a Nokia charger? These don’t break when used normally. I don’t roll up my Apple iPhone cables, but still they break, or better said, there is power connected, otherwise the o.s. wouldn’t start up, but it won’t charge.
what about android cables?
I use MacBook Pro 140W adaptor to charge my iPhone, is it safe? Both wire and charger are original.
What iphone you use? It safe because your iphone will receive the limit watt it can receive..but..better you use 20w adaptor
I only use my iPhone charger …. Literally I would assume it’s a super charger thing cause it chargers my phone in like 20-30 min.
now my phone only charges using knockoffs as well as all other products, its an update/software issue, not hardware.
Does anthony Fantabo know you’re using his not good font ?
My brand new iphone 11 got fried by using a chinese cable which has RGB in it. I was so dumb to buy that7$ cable despite having the original charger just for the sake of RGB
BRO killing me with the discord sounds >:|
Are they safe for Android phones?
most if not all android phones have the voltage protection build into the phone.. cause they're competent.
But wait,.......does not apple products have protection for these thing built right into the phone even on the older models?
Anchor has treated me and my phones well over the years and they’re an Apple certified manufacturer
So no one will talk about that A113 easter egg
anything to keep it alive
Is Anker good?
Yes
Good but expensive I use mcdodo and kuula brand like original
I have a better idea:
Put the damn gatekeeper into the phone and let me use any cable. That way doesn't even need any chip inside. But wait, apple would lose money if they did this. What a scam.
those discord noises messed with me
chargers have voltage regulators in them so this can't happen
Cheap cables are a bad idea. Cheap chargers are an even worse idea. The isolation on some of those China specials are under 1mm! Nobody needs their 5v cable connecting to 120v.
All the discord sounds throwing me off😂
Never heard a charging/data cable being called a "wire" before
"Don't be cheapy mccheappants" lmfao!!😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My phone blew up, iPhone4 had to find a charger
Came from tiktok 😁
Thanks for coming!
I only own cheap ass wires. The kind that has usb-c, lightning & micro-usb on a single wire. Or I use a cheap adapter micro-usb to lightning. No problems so far after 2years. No original wire came with the iphone.
Apple is strictly using patents on usb surge protection on their apple eco system..
Yet another reason why apple should switch to USB c
Your mobile shows danger warning because of msi certification, apple demand's high royalty for msi certification and thats why small company's are not certified by apple but you mentioned that only apple's chips(IC) are good but it's wrong there are other company's which make good quality cable and far better than apple, I think you should research on why all company's had launched their own protocol. And for your kind information chargers already have circuit protection so when the high voltage try to flow from the circuit ghe circuit breaks so it does not matter if the cable has charging protection or voltage regulation chips.....
So i believe someone hacked my my , Its driving me nuts! Can you please help me???!!! Please!!!
Does using fake wires reduce battery health?
no
fake wires lmao
Make a video on how Apple charging cables destroy themselves because they are biodegradeable. 👀👁👁
If the Apple phones are that delicate, you'd have to be an idiot to buy those phones. I've used cheap chargers with tons of phones over the years, with plain old cables with no form of protection in them whatsoever, just plain old data or direct wired charger cables and no damage. I call BS on your claim of a voltage surge when a car is started. That's not how automotive electrical systems work. There is actually a voltage depression while the vehicle is started and stable voltage after that.
Grab a multimeter and measure it for yourself. It's called science, collecting evidence and that whole prove your theory thing.
Ever since my iPad was fried due to a cheap cable, I’ve only bought Apple cords. It’s a real hole in my pocket, but I only have to replace them every about 10-12 months
I’m feeling enlightened lol, (no I’m not really laughing out loud) but informative and my man is not endorsing it to the point where he’s including a link to Apple, which tells me he’s not getting paid for this, bottom line. But there’s a lot of intelligent comments here and I’m with most of you, all in all, I think I’ll finally give in and get a “genuine con-rip off Apple charger. Ugh 🤦🏼♀️
This sound like apple user problem
Don't use Discord notification sounds in your video >_>
Apple want to gatekeep your phone charging on their cables simply because they’re designed to be fragile and they’re £40 each. It’s a much simpler issue.
srsly 10 watt charging doesn't need expensive cables ppl ayre not fools
Apple is a money grubbing company, as a android user, I actually liked tim cook because he actually cared about the customers.
Why if even use an original charger, battery dies less than 80% after 1 years?
What doing control charge at iphone?
Maybe apple is sucks?
Just use induction charging , much easier.
Sounds like a problem Apple created to sell you overpriced cables. They could build a voltage regulator into their phones to solve this issue, but then again they would call it "electrical cleaner pro" and charge you another $200 for it
i watch the whole video and come to the conclusion to buy android
2:34 "So don't be cheapy mac cheap pants, and go buy yourself an Apple certified..."
A.k.a. be an idiot and let yourself get screwed sideways by Apple....
Please stop using the Discord connected sound...
Why? Because Apple doesn't want you using cheap cables when they can rip you off with a expensive cable.
Bruh 😐
Guess this IPhone 11 I got bout to cook tf up cause Apple stay on that bs at least it didn’t come out of my wallet
