    My tall Namwah is very prolific here in Bradenton!! My dwarf namwah never even produced in 3 yrs although it was in a more dry part of the yard.

    Variegated bananas are white striped and will not be confused. Many banana leaves have the red spots or stripes and is normal.
    Crazy how hard it is to really ID these fruit. How the fingers attach is also an identifier. I’ve seen the difference, but have no help for ya as what matches to what. 😂
    Have a blessed day!

    I planted several banana pups from different places and one is variegated, so maybe its a Gros Michel? I'm on St. Croix, so who knows 😂

    Paul... I have 100 namwa bananas. Forget the banana... look at the lower trunk for a red flush. Manzano don't have the red flush but all namwas do.

      How long does it take after plant, for one to produce food?

    • @bandit4true
      @bandit4true Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@Maria-tq8ck about 10 to 11 months if they are placed in a place where the soil is good and they are getting sufficient water. I have always used my lawn clippings to help to enrich the soil.

    Hope you didn't throw away the banana flower. There are some great recipes for the flower. Banana blossom stew, pork & Banana blossom in coconut milk, banana blossom curry.

    One sure way to identify Dwarf Namwah is they have a pinkish hue when their younger on the underside of the leaves right along the leaf stem on both sides. They also sometimes show a little pink when young on the pups pstem.

    @chaselex Před 2 měsíci

    10:15 that red in the leaf is normal for bananas, it’s only red in the leaf like that when they are young. It’s not variegation I don’t think. The cavendish does it as well

    You should have done the last Netflix episode of the Mystery Banana with the Fruitful 5. Done with this Season 1, Season 2 will be Tall or Dwarf Namwah. Enjoy that rack!

    Did you eat the flower? I hear you can treat it like cabbage. If not do a taste test for us.

  • @lorenbush8876
    @lorenbush8876 Před měsícem

    At least they taste great, so you didn't totally waste your money. Can't you just leave the rack on the tree and just pull the ripe ones off as they get fully ripe?

    • @FruitfulTrees
      @FruitfulTrees  Před měsícem

      Yes you can do that but the full rack will become ripe within a few days

    I grow dwarf Nam Wah, Manzano , and Santa Catarina. Paul, your bananas look to me like Santa Catarina, the dwarf Brazilian, known here in Hawaii as Hawaiian Apple Banana.

    It's not variegation , those brown spots usually indicate that the banana tree is getting a lot of water or nutrients

    • @FruitfulTrees
      @FruitfulTrees  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you but the tree in my neighbors yard isn't getting water or nutrients at the moment
