yep u gotta make sure you like them less trust me. my best friend i slept with for years she would always hit me up to kick back. i fell for her became needy and attached and slowly she pushed me away and id question her and do everything wrong till she was turned off. havent spoken to her for like 5 days now and we talked everyday but argued alot and stopped talking. Dating should be all about you having fun and engaging your creativity as you once did as a kid to create fun situations out of mundane situations. Be honest about your desires, which will mean all kinds of things for everyone on here. Seek to add value to peoples lives, while enjoying your own. Through this people who are not a good match for you will filter themselves out, and the good ones will remain without you worrying about how you are perceived by anyone or having to chase anyone. Life is nothing but a game and you all need the reminder that it is in your power to create all kinds of cool shit for yourselves and the people around you, and it all starts with your perspective.

Reminds me of actually experiencing this myself many years ago when I finished high-school, not with a girl but with my parents. As a gift they took me on a "unexpected secret journey" with the car. The actual destination was nothing special, just two nights in a hotel in a nice place with good food and so on.
But the anticipation of what this exiting adventure was about was something I really remember.

But as soon as you sense her interest, you quickly try to figure out what she does in her spare time, and try to become that person. And that’s when you screw up. Rather than letting her become a part of your life, you have become one of many that has become a part of her screwed up life. You still might hook up with her, you might not. But there is nothing special about you now. Just another guy to do shots with and smoke weed with after work.
Backward test this and look a girls in your past who were initially interested in you and what you tried to do because you thought it would make her like you more, or would escalate things. You probably thought you saw a way in. But what you really saw was a trap where you would start acting out of your norm. You might have done it out of fear that she wouldn’t think you were as cool as she did when she met you. But the truth is, that’s the person she was looking for.

I successfully did this with a girl that I deeply fell in love with. But I was her rebound, and she likes colder and more macho men. I was manly, but too sweet and caring. She won't forget me or our time together, which was shortlived, but now she is back with the guy who uses her for sex, and she cannot stop obsessing over him.
